My favorite theater in Portland! The employees are always say friendly and work so efficiently. The prices are great and they always have a great selections of movies. The popcorn is amazing and I love that they offer a CBD beverage. My only minor complaint is the pizza, which has been a bit too thin and stale lately. Overall, it's an excellent theater and our go-to spot.

Aesthetic: Old school movie theater with great movies, pizza, snacks, and beer. My Favorites: Love the veggie pizzas, popcorn with tajin, and local beers. Experience: This is my favorite theater in America. When I lived in Portland, this was my regular weekly movie night theater, and I miss it all the time. We've been to lots of small indie theaters since and none quite match the magic of Laurelhurst. I can't wait for our next visit, please support this theater so they're around forever.

I love this theatre! The food and drinks selection is great and the seats are comfortable. The theatre is not super big so it is always easy to see the screen. It is also easy to get snacks and drinks during the shows, super fast and easy service.

I celebrated my birthday at the laurelhurst theater watching Bone Temple. It's my 65th birthday. I'm so bad with names even when I asked the gentleman his name. I was gifted a bag of popcorn and a token for the photo booth. Thank you thank you for making my birthday special

You are the reason that people hate customer service jobs. The customer is not always right. Yes, the tickets and the food are on the pricier side. YOU CAN SEE THAT ONLINE... where you order your tickets? Some of the comments on here complain about the food options, prices and menu, then order food still...? Only to complain more... Parking is not horrible or bad. I do not know why there were comments about that? Maybe people want front row parking? Get over it. I have NEVER had a problem with parking. Have you been downtown? where you actually have to pay for parking, and where there is literally nowhere close by to your destination to park? If you are a picky eater, cheap, or both, learn how to cook, and take the time to make yourself something to eat prior to heading to this, or any theater. The seats are comfortable; the staff has been great (at least from the many experiences I've had). The popcorn has always been good; I order it almost every time. (I like the Herbs De Provence). Mindset is everything. If you enter a building mad about the money that you spent on the tickets, and/or about the prices of the food (LEAVE). If you are the type of person who needs attention right away and they are busy (LEAVE). If you need front row parking and you get bent out of shape over having to walk a few feet (LEAVE). You, this establishment, as well as the staff, will be better off.

Honestly, this place sucks…read more Walk in for a movie. The vibe is immediately off. Is this place even open? Are we supposed to be here? I ask the bartender if I can order a drink. "No, go over there." She gestures vaguely in a direction... I guess I'm meant to walk down the hall? As I wander down the hallway, lost like it's my first day at a new school, I notice the decor. Koi pond screens in the floor. It sort of feels like this place was designed by ChatGPT. Or maybe some guy who went to Las Vegas once and took every idea home with him. (More on that later, but let's just say it's absolute chaos in there. I'm surprised there isn't a McDonalds ball pit in the entrance) Anyway, I walk toward a small gathering near the door of one of the theaters, where a man is physically blocking the entrance and giving people an extremely thorough sales pitch about the menu. When he sees me, he sends me back to the bar. What da hayl? After a few minutes, he returns, walks me back to the theater, and gives me the whole spiel on his iPad. Can I unsubscribe from this part? It feels like sitting through a timeshare presentation to get a free vacation, except the vacation is just entrance to the theater you bought overpriced tickets for. Okay, finally in the man cave, er, theater. Every room feels like a man cave with a different random theme. Man cave, but vaguely Japan? Man cave, but, dunno... log cabin? Man cave, but what if the floor was also a television? It feels like every idea anyone had during construction made it into the final draft. (I'm not sure if there is a log cabin room but there probably is) 15 minutes into the movie, a waiter comes in to take orders. Not during the previews for some reason (remember, you can't order for yourself at the bar before the movie). The waiter is talking as if we're having a conversation at a bar, and for some reason, he's printing paper receipts and tearing them at a decibel so extreme an erupting volcano would've given him a side-eye. Oh, the movie has subtitles? Yeah, he's also standing in front of you. I can literally hear every part of every conversation he's having with the other patrons. "DO YOU WANT POPCORN AS WELL?!" Overall the experience feels like a psychological experiment. I'm convinced that somewhere in Studio One a lab coat-clad scientist is asking: 'What if every single aspect of this experience was bizarre and awkward?' Or maybe a prank show. Is someone secretly filming us? Did I just drop money to be pranked? This is the only local theater I've ever been to that made me want to go to a corporate theater instead.

While the building had a nostalgic vibe, the ticket price didn't entirely correlate with the comfort level inside. Matinee tickets are $13.49, which was higher than expected given the lack of updated features. The seats were older fabric chairs without footrests or reliable features, and my seat had a constant creak. The sound quality itself is decent, but poor acoustic isolation was a drawback, since loud bass from the auditorium next door was heavily noticeable during quiet scenes. Logistics Tip: The theater has a classic, older layout where the main restrooms are located further down the hall near the concessions area rather than tucked near each hallway. If you like retro aesthetics, this is a fun throwback ambiance, but those wanting modern luxury seating and tight audio isolation may want to try other options.

This really made no sense to me as then we all had mob the concessions at once and a long line formed. That put me off. But once we made it through and got our food, our experience improved. I hadn't been to this IMAX before. It was great! The chairs are very comfy and the temp in the theater was also pretty comfortable. I was drawn back because they were the only theater showing the Rocky Horror Documentary. I am so glad I stumbled on it and was able to squeeze in a showing! It was such a great movie. Then, just the other night I saw The Samurai and The Prisoner. I am ADA and usually have no issue getting into an accessible seat. I did show up, purchased a ticket on the way in for ADA - the whole row was marked empty... when I walked in, imagine my surprise that it was full of people who were supposed to be seated elsewhere. Being honest, people are so crazy these days - I am already exhausted so I just crawled up the stairs to the seats empty above. My food gets delivered and the guy was confused trying to deliver it to the guy manspread over three seats of ADA with his girlfriend and his coat and all his stuff thrown over chairs. I waved saying I had to move because they were in my seat. Suddenly manspread guy - it was exhausting seriously. He kept getting up and sitting back down and getting up and sitting back down while apologizing and saying I'll move all my things... at this point I'm already seated dude. I really just want to eat my flatbread pizza in peace and watch the previews. I genuinely had to ask him to please stop and sit down. So, hay - usually, us disabled people are already tired and broken and in pain - I really don't have it in me to deal with you. I get an ADA spot because walking up even one stair is painful but asking you to move and standing around while you do so - it's easier just pole vaulting up the stair. Being able bodied is temporary and I encourage you to please just be mindful of how your actions affect other people.

Just east of the river, in the middle of a residential part of Portland lies this little theater. Something I was not expecting to see when I was invited to watch a friend's movie that he filmed. Let me share some information on what to expect before coming here: * Parking * Once you spot the place and drive past it, you won't find a garage anywhere. Street parking only. So be cognizant of street parking signs as well. * The Theater * A classic type of theater reminiscent of days passed with a marquee above the entrance. Upon entering, there isn't much of a lobby, but a concession stand selling everything from candy, popcorn, and drinks. They even sell beer and wine, and local canned ciders. I also heard, they're cool with you bringing in food from outside. Just not alcohol, which is understandable. Although the lobby is narrow, i still loved looking up at the movie poster decor that lined the walls. There's only one movie screen as far as I know of, so don't expect a huge building with 20 screens. I mean it is an old building with old wooden doors, brass doorknobs, heavy curtains, and tiny restrooms with exposed pipes. Inside there is a small stage in front of the main screen, available for performers and events. Yes, you can even rent out the venue as well to hold an event. As for seating, the chairs are pretty wide and fairly comfortable. There may have been only about 200 seats, so expect the closeness of audience interactions and the quiet whispers to be heard loud and clear. In short, this old school theater is definitely a historical icon of Portland, with its marquee board changed by hand and little box office up front selling tickets. Come here for homemade movies, B rated films, as well as weird random classics. Just check their website for what's showing. I enjoyed my friend's event and I wouldn't mind seeing another crazy movie here like The Toxic Avenger!
