I was referred to Top Choice Transportation by a local private school, which provided their contact information. I opted for TOP Choice due to the limited options for transporting children to school.
Unfortunately, my experience with Top Choice has been disappointing for several reasons:
1. UNPROFESSIONAL:
There is no formal contract in place, and the owner/driver (Hector Clarke) lacks an answering service. He refuses to answer calls or text messages. He is unreachable by phone or text, and his expectations seem to shift without clear communication. For instance, he requires that you be ready at a certain time but he arrives late and frequently changes the pickup and drop-off times without any prior notice, leading to daily uncertainty about when he will arrive. This unpredictability causes significant stress each weekday, as I am unable to inform my employer of potential delays due to Hector Clarke's lack of updates or submit a request to leave earlier to be at home when he drops off my child.
2. MISREPRESENTATION:
The company's advertisement suggests multiple drivers and vehicle options are available. In reality, the owner/manager, Hector Clarke, is the sole driver. While the vehicles are clean, they are basic SUVs rather than the variety implied by the marketing materials. In addition, He tor Clarke initially informed me that the payment schedule was every two weeks. It is very important to me that I respect others and therefore I began paying him at the end of each week. I even gave him a Christmas bonus and an end of the school year bonus. He then decided that my efforts to respect him were entitlements.
3. POOR COMMUNICATION:
On multiple occasions, Hector Clarke has failed to pick up my child for school, leading to missed days. As a single parent with a demanding job, this has left me scrambling to adjust my schedule. Despite being one week early extremely with payments, making sure my child is ready with coat, shoes and backpack on 30 minutes before the time Hector Clarke has indicated he will arrive, he has still neglected to provide notification when he will not dhow up or arrive late. Recently, I was compelled to ask my manager for a schedule adjustment just to transport my child to school after Hector Clarke failed to show up or call. This is significant since I have only been in this job for two weeks.
DISHONEST:
I attempted to contact Hector Clarke to address these issues, but he did not respond to my calls or text messages. Please note that I only left one voicemail, one text and two notes on my mailbox. All communication was polite and simply inquired about confirmation of pickup. I recall thst during the summer of 2024 Hector Clarke failed to communicate about transporting my child to camp. I stated to him that I would only be able to send my child to the private school camp if he was willing to transport. Hector Clarke agreed but he never followed up after I paid him for the last week of school transport and gave him a bonus. As a result, I was trapped. My commute is two hours and therefore with traffic it was challenging to also take my child to camp and pick up. My summer was spent anxiously worrying that I would be in trouble for leaving work early or that I would not make it on time through Virginia traffic to pick up my child before the camp aftercare closed.
It is now January 2025 and Hector Clarke abruptly stopped showing up recently without any notice. Again, my child missed school. I called and sent a text. Hector Clarke never responded. I left a note on my mailbox in the event that he arrived later. When I had someone else reach with me in a three way call, Hector Clarke answered and provided misleading information. Again he claimed his phone blacked out. He did not apologize. He did not say that he was not transporting other children that were riding with him. Again he claimed to have a phone issue but during this call on my friend's phone Hector Clarke claimed that his phone had blacked out but he also indicated that he knew thst I had tried to reach him, yet he made no attempt to let me know of his changes with the transportation. He was not courteous enough to reach out to inform me that he would no longer be able or willing to transport my child to school. Please note that my child is small and not a behavioral problem. My child is able to operate a seat belt and does not need assistance. I have never been impolite or less than courteous towards Hector Clarke.
Summary:
This experience has left me feeling that this business operates unprofessionally, and dishonestly. In summary, my experience with Top Choice Transportation has been far from satisfactory, and I believe it is important for potential customers to be aware of these issues. read more
