I've been using Top Chef to have prepared meals delivered to my client who cannot cook for himself. What I like is the wide range of dietary choices and preset suggested meals and combinations. My client is diabetic so ordering and reordering is easy thanks to this. There is a fair range of selections of entrees in the way of protein and vegetable sides. The meal portions are maybe slightly bigger than a lean cuisine so it may not be for everyone as those portions can be a bit meager. I had one of the meals that my client didn't want - pork tenderloin, carrots, and string beans. I heated it in the oven as recommended and the pork was not bad, nor were the beans. They went a bit heavy on the carrots though. This is only one meal of many however and my client overall has a favorable opinion of them, his favorite being the "American glazed meatloaf" Top Chef has come through in a big way for me with delivering about 2 weeks worth of meals for my client that come about three days after ordering it (If it isn't before the weekend). With the rising popularity of heat and eat and fast prep meal kits, like Hello Fresh, Blue Apron and more this is great for elderly, disabled or otherwise, perhaps people who have next to no time to cook. with a nice selection, good packaging, quick delivery and even a senior discount I'm very satisfied with Top Chef Meals. read more

I recieved my order as expected and on time 2 days ago. After trying 2 entrees, I am sold! Even the vegetarian stuffed portobello mushroom didn't feel like it was missing a protein. Really delicious, not overly salted and processed tasting like the usual frozen foods you'd buy in the supermarket or Trader Joe's (nothing against Trader Joe's. ) Top Chef Meals have great flavor and seasonings and tastes like real food that your best friend made and would send you home with! I wonder if something has changed since the review comparing these to frozen meals in the grocery store. That's what I thought I was getting and since I was picking only keto friendly meals I didn't feel cooking...I was ready to ignore the nasty and shovel them down. But they're effing delicious. They're actually real food that's cooked and sans grocery-store-type preservatives are flash frozen. You don't heat em up from frozen, you defrost like regular food and then microwave. You know they're not lying about it when the veggies come out like they've been freshly cooked. I've had 14 different meals and loved them all except the ahi tuna. I mean loved. Tasted like home cooked meals. What else can you ask for here?! That said you have to follow the heating instructions on the papers that come with your food and not on the containers or you'll over nuke and ruin the food. Why not stop putting those same labeled directions on everything?! read more

These meals are really great and I love the way I can customize the sides and all the paleo and keto options. They even have gluten free pancakes that don't taste gluten free at all. As a single person working long physical days, these were a godsend at dinner time. And I always felt full after one, even when having breakfast for dinner. So why only 3 stars? Because while they have got the food and customization down, their packaging is abysmal and downright dangerous. The frozen meals are placed in a cardboard box with an inch of carpet padding all around and a layer of dry ice on the bottom and top. Of 3 deliveries, only 1 arrived on time. Fed Ex arbitrarily delayed the last 2 by a day. All 3 boxes, even the one on time, arrived with the cardboard damp, misshapen, and the seams splitting, indicating a lot of thawing going on. The last shipment was during the recent heatwave and all 21 of my meals were thawed, liquidy, and squishy. The customer service rep kept trying to tell me that they packed extra dry ice in case of delays and that this food, which contained fish, crab, bacon, and eggs, was still safe to eat. However, while this box contained the most food I had ordered thus far, it also contained the least dry ice. Kelly, the service rep, assured me the manager would call me the next day but I never heard from him. A day and a half later I called back and this time the rep admitted they were having problems with food going bad in transit. This is not my first meal delivery service. Everyone else I have ordered from has used the biodegradable frozen gel packs and I have never received spoiled food before. I would go back to Top Chef in a heartbeat, if they would switch to the gel packs. The food is that good. But unless you live close to them, I would not feel safe eating their food as it is currently shipped. Top Chef, I would love to hear from you if you ever do fix your shipping issues. This service is so convenient and I look forward to continued business with them, one thing I wish I could have on paper maybe on the order summary is the calories for each line item, otherwise I'm extremely happy!!! I just discovered this service last week. I looked everywhere for low sodium prepared meals and this was the only company that offered that option. The food is tasty. Portions are good. These are ... not bad. I mean, get real, they're frozen meals, they're not ever going to be gourmet. But if you're looking for an easy, relatively inexpensive, convenient way to get your meals-- this is a good one. I wouldn't say i enjoy the meals, but I can eat them so that's all I can ask for really. Some are better than others, and definitely DONT over microwave or the quality deteriorates rapidly. These meals are absolutely delicious!! Being a college student it is so difficult to get fresh delicious meals on campus. There is nothing better than some homemade chicken parm or a nice steak to end my long school day. Most colleges take advantage of us by supplying us mandatory meal plans for poorly prepared food. This service started great in early 2018 however the quality has dropped off dramatically. My wife has gone back to school limiting the time to prepare and shop for food so we decided to try "Top Chef Meals". We really liked the idea of the meal being pre-prepared AND you could select what you wanted on the plate for the entree. We had tried numerous services that send the ingredients but the preparation time was too long for our schedule. Something has happened with "Top Chef Meals" as the quality has noticeable gone down-hill. The vegetables now consistently have a "smoked" smell to them and some actually taste rotten. This is a great service. Reasonable prices, and all meals can be totally customized. I order meals for my mom that meet her strict dietary needs, and I order for myself also. Huge variety of high quality meats, fish, vegetarian, etc. Diabetic, kidney, paleo etc., they do it all. Delivered to my door since I live nearby. The order process is easy, I can even do on my phone. This has been a huge convenience for me, as I was cooking mom's meals while working full time and facing other challenges of my own. I ordered food to be delivered to relatives out-of-state who were going through a death in the family and Top Chef was ready to help by delaying the order for a bit to accommodate the changed scheduled delivery. Customer service didn't change a delivery address (despite agreeing to do so) after a call to them was made to update the order. Order went to another location in an apartment complex. They refused to rectify the situation despite having put the wrong address (and us having no immediate way to go get the rogue package). They refused to give any names of the customer service team. We now have no food and paid for food that is sitting, thawing and rotting. Apparently it isn't their problem. They told me that they "send 8-10 thousand meals a day and have great customer service". I guess they don't need even one more customer because they are doing awesome. read more

4.5 stars! I was surprised that it tasted so good. I was expecting it to be a little like Lean Cuisine (let's be honest, we eat those for the convenience only, and to keep us from going out and getting fast food........NOT for the taste). But it wasn't anything like Lean Cuisine. I was completely surprised! It was actually flavorful and it filled me up. I had a few bites of ice cream afterwards and felt like I was still within my calorie limit. I had the meatloaf, potatoes and brussel sprouts and my boyfriend had the pulled pork, potatoes and broccoli. He said that the pulled pork was actually pretty darn good, and he's harder to please than even me. I will definitely be ordering again soon. Working 12.5 hours a day at a hospital, I literally can't bring myself to cook after I get home from work (too exhausted), and this saves me from spending a ton of money on ordering delivery... and a LOT of calories, too. Almost every meal is around 450-550 cals. I expect I'll be losing some weight pretty soon, so that's exciting. read more

Top Chef meals are awful. Soggy potatoes and mushy vegetables. Meats are hard, crusts are soggy and all have no flavor. Meals come with 3 different versions of heating instructions, enough to confuse any senior. Tried 6 different meals and all ended up in the garbage. Don't waste your money. I feel bad for trying to feed my elderly parents such horrible food. Those good reviews baffle me because that was not our experience. I am on my second order of food from this company and I have been pleasantly suprised with there product. I love how the meals are shipped with alot of dry ice to keep the meals cold. Most of the food taste pretty good some items I like more than others. The vegetables are great very fresh and not overcooked. The meals are all packaged very well and elegantly presented. You can tell this company puts alot of care in their products. The best thing is its good quality food at a very reasonable price. Over the past year in a half I have used several well known meal delivery services and the price of Top Chef meals is much more reasonable than there competitors. Very disappointed! I ordered 10 different meals for my elderly parents. There were 3 sets of confusing cooking instructions but no matter which way the meals were not edible. They were all soggy, tasteless and meat the texture of cardboard. After trying the 4th set of meals we threw the rest in the trash. I contacted Top Chef but they totally ignored the complaint and offered no response. A waste of money and the worst customer service ever. read more

Wow, this is a GAME CHANGER!!!! I work full time, so does my husband and both our kids have sporting events 4 nights a week! We're all running around the minute we get home from work. Instead of hitting the drive through we have meals ready to go! Heat them up, grab a plastic fork and everyone is eating a healthy meal in minutes! Upon ordering I had no idea what to expect. First off my order came all frozen! Therefore meals were made on Tuesday, frozen and then delivered (frozen) on Thursday. Since these meals are not full of all the "chemicals and sodium" a typical frozen meal has they do have a freezer life. This is like making meals on your own and freezing them, yet who had time for that! The Breakfast options are GREAT too! My husband ran out the door with a hot meal just this morning! I never write reviews but I have to give this place 5 stars for helping me lose 40lbs in 6 months. Losing weight is 80% what you eat and 20% exercise. This place helped me create a regular eating schedule of healthy food for a decent price. Most meal prep places were too expensive. Given, it's not INCREDIBLE food but if you try enough items you get a good feeling of what is good vs. what is average vs. what is bad. I just keep an excel sheet marking what I liked and what I didn't and just reorder what I liked. Now that I lost the weight, I am not using it as religiously just every once in a while for maintenance. I recommend for an affordable way to "shortcut" to lose weight. Of course you can lose just as much weight if you properly mealprep but that takes time, effort, and I can't even cook so this place works great. I was extremely skeptical however this service and meals have been a godsend to my family. I work a lot of hours and our daughter is a Type 1 diabetic so she needs a specific number of carbs per meal and I haven't been able to cook in a long time. Not only is the food actually delicious but you can calculate the number of carbs per meal based on what you add or subtract to your customized order!!!!! GAME CHANGER! They should market this more as more Type 1 families would definitely order from them. My husband loves it too and he is a big guy with a huge appetite. The only thing I wish is the "add more protein" option would add MORE protein for those that have bigger appetites (so something like doubling a portion). We have worked around this by ordering two for him. I thought I was coming to a point where I would run out of menu options that I haven't tried yet but as I logged on today to order for this coming week I see they've added menu items. Due to a health issue my siblings and I decided to use your service to send meals to my parents as a Christmas gift. Our mother was scheduled for back surgery and was not able to cook the way she used to and we aren't able to be there to help her daily. We found your service and sent the first delivery the week of christmas and have been sending meals every 2 weeks ever since. My mother raves about your meals and I had the ability to try one while visiting her and agree completely, they rival a restaurant and surpass all other prepared meals I have tried in both quality of food and taste.
