**BEWARE*** Felt like a dangerous situation. I was very disappointed with the service from ToolsToDo Handyman today. Their man was at my house to work on my drywall to make space for my dryer vent hose and showed up 2.5 hours late. He was super unprofessional, and very belligerent. He didn't seem to know what he was doing at all, and couldn't explain how he was going to do the job. He didn't have a tape measure with him and he wasn't measuring anything, which was the most critical aspect of the job. He also didn't know the difference between the dryer and the washing machine. He also made me do all the work of moving the dryer I felt very uncomfortable with him in my home, and I was about to call 911 because he was directly in my face and wouldn't leave when asked to. read more

I hired them to install an electrical box and run a wire from our house to our pool pump. Our quote was $1400 for THE ENTIRE JOB plus materials. We invited "Inkosi" in for dinner because he was working late, let him borrow our headlamp to work at night. 1. Upon paying our bill, they jacked up the price $1000. $2400 for taking longer than they expected. Remember, they quoted the JOB, and gave us absolutely no time limit. No one said anything throughout the entire process that the bill would increase. When we talked to tech about it, he claimed his internet wasn't working properly and that's why we didn't receive notification. So we paid the bill and then asked Thumbtack to help us with the situation. (--- In retrospect, we should not have paid it!) 2. The work was done incorrectly! The new electrical work was wired completely wrong which created a short, plus they left a hole in the side of the box that left live wires out to the open. The trench he dug to run the wire to the pool was 2-4 inches deep when the code says 18 inches! Then he left the pool pump running dry for hours because he didn't understand how pool pumps work. There's NO WAY they have an electrical license, they had no idea what they were doing. 3. As if this wasn't enough, they "accidently" took the headlamp we lent them, and claimed to send us a new one, which has never arrived. Thumbtack has kicked them off their listing service and has been unable to contact them to mediate. Over a month later and the electrical system STILL doesn't work right, I'm out a headlamp, the trench is not to code and I'm still waiting on thumbtack to finish processing my refund. I told him multiple times to cease contact and he refused, making threatening comments like "try me, b****". I ended up filing a police report against him where they said I had enough for a restraining order!!! ***BEWARE!*** Invoiced MORE THAN 3x the amount of initial estimate - UNETHICAL - Shoddy Service - Review BBB complaints (C- BBB rating as of 4/5/19)! This was the most unpleasant experience and I'm entirely disappointed in their handyman services and baffled by their customer service approach. After submitting detailed photos of pipe fitting clothing racks, a request to change light bulbs requiring a ladder, and assembling wheels on a grill, I received an estimate for $178 (with an additional 10% off). It was in line with a second estimate I received ($175 but not immediately available) so I signed up with ToolsToDo. The initial repair man caused damage to the clothing racks, chipped my wall, and didn't bring a ladder. The following day, a 2nd repair man arrived and assembled the racks completely unevenly where they are leaning to different sides. After complaining to the office about the initial repair man, I thought my complaint was taken seriously as Ashanti promised to replace the tech, he returned to my doorstep on the 2nd day as well which made me very uncomfortable, being a single woman who just made a complaint to his employer. He "repaired" the chip with the wrong color paint, incorrect texture, and didn't even make a clean corner. It looks awful! I was later invoiced for $518 by the exact person who gave me the initial estimate! After a full day of hearing their phones from multiple texts accompanied by phone conversations (additionally 1 repair man disappearing for ~2 hours) they upped the charge! Mario informed me that they ALWAYS estimate a low amount and then charge exponentially more after I asked him how the invoice amounted to MORE THAN 3 TIMES my anticipated amount when he personally saw the emailed photos, personally provided the estimate, physically appeared on site to assemble the same items, says absolutely NOTHING about extra charges, then drops a bill for $518 and says he gave me a discount! I understand estimates may have overage, but 10-20% is acceptable and still requires customer sign off from any responsible company or contractor. After emailing photos of the shoddy fix to my wall, their customer service told me that I would be charged for a proper fix to my wall from the damage THEIR technician caused. After requesting an amicable resolution, ToolsToDo responded with this quote: "You are free to voice your opinion online of course, we just have to warn that any false or untrue statements or claims will result in a defamation lawsuit." Seriously. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company unless you enjoy filing complaints to the BBB. read more

I just have to say that I had a wonderful experience with my handyman from Tools to Do! I had a leak in my bathroom that started getting out of hand in the last few weeks. My handyman was very professional and reliable. He came during our set appointment time which was very important to me since I work on the road. I appreciated him explaining the problem and resolution to me in detail. The price was very competitive and transparent. The best part is, I no longer have to worry about the constant "running water" noise in my restroom. As a manager in customer service and leadership/development, I highly recommend great service when I experience it. Please consider Tools to Do for any handyman services. First I sent in a quote request and Kim got back to me right away! I was able to get an estimate and an appointment set up for two days later within an hour of the first quote request being sent. The repairman, Mario(I believe that was his name I could be wrong), got here within the time frame quoted me and immediately got to work. In the end the entire thing, with materials, cost about $100 LESS than they had quoted originally. I highly recommend them for pretty much any 'handyman' jobs and plan on using them the next time I need help with something. read more
