Service great! Drink selection awesome! It's a Tuesday and around 4pm, so it's not busy. I ordered calamari and it was not good. I've had it here before and it usually is so good. It was mushy and parts of it taste raw. I'm positive the manager saw me grab a napkin and spit it out but then looked away. If you scroll through pictures for this restaurant, you will see how it's supposed to look. I will post on how unappealing it was. I did say something to the bartender. Waste of $13. Second time being here and it gets better every time. Order the blackened salmon sandwich and it was amazing! Love that they had the windows open on a beautiful day. The waitress was attentive, vibe was relaxing, and all the food was great! Will definitely be back. read more

This review was based on one visit for happy hour for drinks only. I came here with a colleague after work for an audit. We came straight to the bar because we had decided on a different dinner destination. We sat at the bar and were greeted promptly. We didn't know what we were going to order because they have a good selection of beers on tap. We asked for a few samples and I am glad that I did. My colleague and I both ordered "Blow Your Face Out," which is a double-IPA with 101 IBU and 10% alcohol; it was an excellent choice for one beer on an empty stomach. "ROAK'S BLOW YOUR FACE OUT DOUBLE IPA WAS CRAFTED TO MAXIMIZE THE DARK CHARACTER OF HOPS WITH PINEY, TROPICAL AND STONE FRUIT AROMAS AND FLAVORS. WITH 101 IBU'S THESE HOPS ARE READY TO EXPLODE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOTTLE." This place was moderately busy when we arrived and was completely packed when we left. I also would only write this restaurant 2 stars, We came off the bike trail looking for a brewpub it was told about this restaurant. Attempted to lock our bikes to the railing in front since there were no bike racks the manager sent a young girl out to tell us we couldn't do that we had to welcome to a light post. I understand if the city won't let us do that but I felt the manager could come and tell us himself, the food was good they had lots of beer but we would not go back nor would I recommend it for anyone else especially the people on the bike path coming to town for lunch read more

Had a late night dinner at this restaurant. It is a nice casual place to hangout with friends and enjoy drinks, food. They have a nice menu with choices that are all appealing, not your average, run of the mill pub food. I ordered the TRL burger with onion rings which was generous in portion and delicious, nicely seasoned. My friends ordered the Irish nachos. This was very large - fresh fried tortillas chips with fresh toppings and white cheese sauce. The qty of brisket meat was very small compared to the amount of chips and toppings on the dish, but it was tasty. Drink menu is extensive- lots of craft beers, cocktails and a large whisky menu. Let's start with the positive about this place. The bar looked busy with a bunch of Plenty of Fish first dates LOL! Ok, now that we got that out of the way, once you enter beware the hostess looks miserable. Once you are sat at a table, you will then wait for a server to even acknowledge you are in their section. Once they do, don't expect water. Then you order a drink from the menu only to find out it's out (no worries, it happens). Then you order a food item from the menu only to find out it changes (no worries it happens). Then you realize you don't have water, silverware, plates, condiments etc. (no worries it happens). Right? Please say right? Then you see another table walked out because the service was so bad (no water, no drinks, no food, no service). Then you realize another table across the restaurant left unhappy as well. Then you see another table try to eat their appetizer without silverware or condiments. The you hear a table was charged incorrectly. My hearing is not great but so far that's 4 + 1 tables having an issue of a restaurant that had less than 10 checks (without counting the awkward POF dates). Not bad! It's rare to see a restaurant perform so poorly on the only thing they can control, themselves and their service. From the hostess, to the waitress to the manager, to whomever else was there, perhaps something other than the service industry would be better fit. read more

Also, the music is so loud that you have to repeat your order to the waitress. I'm writing this review in hopes that management will make some changes for the better. My husband and I used to live in downtown Rochester, we recently moved about 15 minutes away for a shorter work commute due to a job change. Too-Ra-Loo used to be "our spot" 2 years ago. We waited ~10 minutes before any server came to our table and the place was not busy, we walked in and were seated right away. Our 2 person table was awkward, it did not push all the way up against the wall because the stand at the bottom hit the wall before the tabletop, was worried I was going to lose utensils or my phone in the crack the whole dinner. I had the nachos, they were good aside from the canned chicken on them. No canned chicken, ew. Otherwise had a good amount of fresh tomatoes, green onions and peppers. My husband had the TRL burger. We used to get the burger alll the time and it was the best burger in town. Now, the patty has changed. It's thinner, dry, overcooked. We had the sautéed calamari for an app, that was actually pretty good. The cinnamon sugar dip for the sweet potatoes fries also changed, but not improved. The music was TERRIBLE. SO BAD. It ruined the vibe. It was 7pm and they were playing Taylor Swift Lovestory and Backstreet Boys. If I wanted to listen to terrible music I would go to Main Street Billiards. That's not dinner music. As a local of Rochester I've seen restaurants come and go my whole life but TRL has remained consistent in quality, service, and just straight up good vibes. As a connoisseur of quality food I often find myself exploring the entirety of the menu. That being said I've been frequenting the battered chicken sandwich as of late. It has absolutely SLAPPED each time I've gotten it. Now if I may be so bold, I recommend getting a side of syrup to drizzle all over that bad boy. It really gets the palette singing praises. Wash all that down with a glass of Final Absolution and that's enough to turn any bad day into a good one. That meal combination is almost as sweet as the wonderful server Sarah! I haven't been back here since they first opened. I liked it then but knew they had some work to do. That was several years ago now. My sister comes here on a regular basis. She loves their brunch. She knows all of the bar tenders. She was here the day the restaurants were shut down and stayed until they had no choice but to close. Lol. So when we came in, everyone pretty much knew her. The bartenders were quick to come and say hello. They were extremely attentive and very personable. They were quick to bring us our drinks and to keep the full. My niece wanted a fun "grown up" drink. She is 18. They all out their heads together and made her a fun virgin drink that made her feel special. Definitely went above and beyond. I ordered the chicken quesadillas. They were good. But I wouldn't order them again. Nothing was wrong with them. just too many peppers and onions for my taste. Overall this was a very fun experience and it was great to have bartenders that were so happy to go the extra mile. Oh, one more thing. I was worried about parking. I thought for sure this would be an issue and that we would be walking pretty far. I was surprised to see that parking was simple and close. They have parkmobile parking so you pay on an app on your phone. Quick and easy! I'm going to take my sister's word for it and come back to try their brunch. I love going to this place! Love the location. Love the feel inside. Love the garage doors to allow open air. Beers galore. Food is always great. Our server, Justin, was nice and offered the perfect amount of service. Checked in when it needed to happen. The hostess was nice and removed our final plate when we were finished. Seemed like really great teamwork amongst the crew. I had the Baci, it's sausage in a pasta with cheese and some sauce, server with garlic bread. It's really good! It has just the right amount of spiciness, you can still taste your food but if you aren't partial to spice (usually I'm not), it may be too hot for you. I like to order mild spice on my Thai food if that helps. The man had the chicken and fries dinner and ate half and took the other half home. Portions are good size. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service at Too Ra Loo. I visited with a handful of friends around 3:00 on a Friday. The waiters were very attentive and served drinks and food quickly. I ordered the quesadilla with chicken. It was served with an guacamole and sour cream. The quesadilla was fresh and loaded with chicken. It wasn't overly cheesy, which I really enjoyed. Too Ra Loo is doing a wonderful job at keeping up with COVID standards. It was very noticeable that the menus were washed between customers (you could smell the bleach on them) and all workers had masks on. Too Ra Loo has been on our bookmark list for quite some time and I'm glad we were able to finally dine in last weekend. The restaurant/bar is super huge - something I wasn't expecting. It seems like you could always be seated without a wait with how many tables there are. The open window seating was a fun sight-seeing touch. I ordered the Pretzels and Beer Cheese as an appetizer, and unfortunately, this is what brings them down a star as we only got two seemingly-microwaved pretzel sticks with the biggest bowl of beer cheese. We had only used 10% of it and decided to keep it on our table to use it with the rest of our order. Either more pretzels, or less cheese. Hard to pay that price for what we got. As my entree, I got the Lafayette Pizza. Sooooo good! Very tasty thin crust pizza, which seems to be their calling card. I want to try different variations of their pizza in the near future. I understand Rochester/Rochester Hills has some sort of inferiority complex when it comes Birmingham and Grosse Pointe, but my goodness, they are going to have to up the food game in this town to even be considered. Our bartender was very nice but not very attentive. We did not come at a busy time, there were only a handful of people in the restaurant and only two others at the bar. Finally the food, it was as about dull and plain and flavorless as you can imagine. I get it, you're an Irish bar with irish standards but in this day and age it doesn't mean you can't try to modernize it. Menu says "breaded" onion rings and that's what we've ordered in the past and have received. They have obviously changed the recipe as what we received tonight was "battered" onion rings, not "breaded". As someone who loves onion rings, there is definitely a difference.
