I heard about Rug Mart from an acquaintance when I asked her where she purchased a beautiful rug in her home. So we decided to check them out when we were shopping for a new rug for our living room. Rug Mart Houston has an incredible selection of rugs, on site, ready for you to see and available immediately for purchase. Considering we were searching for an oversized rug (12x15), being able to see the rug - full size - and not in a very small sample size, on-site availability was very important to us. Latif, the owner, listened to us describe what we were interested in and even asked to see photos of our room (which we happened to have), as well as paid close attention to the rugs we liked as we were looking through the vast selection, and he helped us quickly narrow it down to a couple of favorites. Latif was very polite, professional, and followed up with us in an appropriate time frame (he was not pushy at all). He has a HUGE selection of every type of style of rug one could be looking for and in many price ranges. Bottom line, we would buy from Latif again. We could not be happier with our rug purchase - the large rug and the runner to coordinate with it - look fantastic.

I was concerned about the smaller one because it also needed some repairs and it was a sentimental rug given to me by my father and I didn't want anything to happen to it. About a week or so after, I got a call that my rugs were ready. There's a very nice seating area with water and some cookies where you can sit and relax while they get your rug from the back. Everything in the store is very neat and clean and the staff are very friendly. I'm glad I worried for nothing because my smaller rug was seamlessly repaired and both look brand new! So given this, why would I give them such a low rating and the answer is their service is quite poor. I paid for my rug gave the owner an option as to when they would deliver it understanding that I needed assistance in laying the rug down over and already existing carpet, but that there were enough furnishings that I would require assistance so much so that I sent the owner in the process of our discussion and at her request pictures of the room and the furniture in the room so she knew precisely the situation that was being presented to her, but she assured me that that would not be a problem. I paid for the rug. The owner told me that she would have it to my home one week after the day that I had purchased it, which was a Tuesday before I left, and after I paid for the rug, she thought through it and asked if it would be acceptable That she delivered on Wednesday rather than Tuesday. This was after I had paid for it. I still consented because I did not see one day as critical, and she said she would confirm with me on Friday of the week in which I had purchased the rug. Since she had not called me on Friday, I called her since they were closed on Mondays and she said that she would confirm the following Tuesday for a Wednesday delivery since it involve my emptying two curios of glassware. I asked respectfully if she would, please confirm on Tuesday so that I had sufficient time. She did not confirm so I called her on Tuesday afternoon at which point she informed me that I would have to move the furniture she could not she did not have a sufficient number of workers and that they had gotten a bigger job. She then said that she might be able to do it on Friday, but she would have to confirm with me on Thursday. Given the track record, I asked her to refund the money. She said she could not do it immediately, but that she would do it in the afternoon. I thought better than to just leave the issue go given her performance and her inconsistency and so when I arrived at her office later on Tuesday afternoon, in point of fact, she had not even started the process of refunding the money , and I was informed by I believe it was her husband that she could not return the money without the credit card on which I charged it. So that her promise to refund the money could not have ever been executed unless I presented the card. Since I was there, I presented the card. I did receive a credit at that point and financially there was no loss. There was only loss of my time. Why do I post this with a negative review? It was clear to me that she had no concept of service. Furthermore, after refunding the money, she told me that it was never her intention to send staff to help me with the furniture, which was the whole basis of the transaction to begin with.
