I bought a 100% silk carpet in the Middle East and my puppy bit off two sections of the carpet. It didn't take long to decide over David's Oriental Rugs for repairs. The owner thought I was not serious about my intend to use their services as well as the quality of my rug. So after insisting and assuring him I was not shopping around for prices he penciled me in - and the following week my rug was with his master rug specialist - about 20 days later we get our rug back and you can barely notice the repair. We've purchased several large, beautiful rugs from David's Oriental Rugs about 10 years ago and have been very satisfied with the high quality, great value and huge selection offered. Just bought a BEAUTIFUL Persian rug for my baby's room and I can't express enough how much I love it!! What's more is the exceptional service that Mahan and David provide. Super friendly people and took their time to educate me about each rug I picked out but NEVER pressured me into buying. I really appreciate that. I went back and worth for 3 days because I just couldn't decide on one rug-- they're all gorgeous. During that time I checked out other places too just to make sure I make a levelheaded choice but nothing beats the superb customer service and price at David's Oriental Rug. Also worth noting is the excellent repair job that Albert did on our rug! Even threw in a complimentary rug pad! The icing on top: they are HONEST people, not just trying to squeeze every dollar they can make off you. I consulted Mahan about a rug we bought second hand and wanted to know if it's worth getting professionally cleaned. He told me to bring it in and he'll assess the rug. They even got right up close to try to find any traces of dog urine (previous owner had a dog, wasn't sure if there was an accident). We went to David Oriental Rugs just out of curiosity after seeing the store next door to where we were going. We had never read any reviews or knew about this store. We were so surprised to see their selection of beautiful hand made rugs and very fair prices. David and Mahan took the time to teach us about the rugs and show us every single one from a large pile. We didn't buy anything that day but kept the store in mind. A few weeks later we went back after seeing other rugs and comparing prices in other stores. Customer service was excellent, Mahan and 2 other employees showed us every single rug from a large pile of modern rugs they just received from a brand new shipment. He offered to bring 5 of those rugs to our home that same day so we could see them with the furniture. Not only did Mahan and another employee bring the rugs but they even moved all our furniture to place the rugs and then turned the rugs around so we could see them from both the light and dark sides. He was very helpful and patient while we were trying to decide, and didn't make us feel rushed. The furniture was moved several times and they offered to do it all, very nice guys, we were so impressed. We bought one rug that day and the next day decided to get a second one for another room. Mahan and the other employee came back 3 days later with another 3 rugs and did the same thing all over again. We really appreciate how easy they made it for us. Davids I'm really shocked to read these reviews. David does have an extensive selection of nice rugs. Organized by style, which is most helpful. And he seems knowledgable, but in a I KNOW IT ALL AND YOU KNOW NOTHING way. Way EXCESSIVE BS and self praise that drives you out of your mind!! Just SHUT UP and let me concentrate on what I need!!!! He needs to learn a thing or two about how to treat customers - particularly women. I have recently purchased a third home in La. And I was in need of at least 4 large rugs, and a few small ones for a new home. (NONE of which I let on initially - because I hate the overzealous fake enthusiasm and high pressure that comes with knowing you are a potential high dollar sale) Really, I just despise hard sale tactics. He first told me I couldn't return the rugs -only for credit and must be within 24hrs UNLESS I brought my husband!!!!!! LOL! my husband, while very good at his job, knows NOTHING about color or rugs - I have had to buy his clothes and pick his ties out every day for 40 yrs!!! What an arrogant and ignorant assumption to make - that I need my husband to purchase a rug. Another customer (man in a suit) walks in with a filthy rug and he proceeds to talk to this man for 30 mins to an hour ( ditching me) - to negotiate this filthy rug -covered in animal hair and full of dirt - to where when plunked on the floor - a pile of dirt/sand dropped out. (After telling me he doesn't buy rugs!) I really wanted to buy several rugs in there. But after being insulted too many times to count - I had to walk out of there. I told him I had already purchased 3 hand knot rugs for a really good price, from a store going out of business- that didn't work for the house - and I didn't want to make another costly mistake.. (but I bought them for a good price -knowing I could turn around and re-sell them) Without seeing these rugs - he said they couldn't have been hand knot or worth what I paid - and that the company wasn't really going out of business and ON AND ON INSULTS ABOUT A COMPANY HE DOESN'T KNOW OR RUGS HES NEVER EVEN SEEN!!! AND that no one in La is as good as him. And that he is the best dealer in Texas and La. Wow. If you are the best, you should know - don't insult your customers- not everyone shops in stilettos or dressed to go work - I have never HAD to work! I wear comfortable clothes shopping. I don't need to "dress up" to project an image. And that's your judgement problem, not mine. Ignorance, is when retail clerks who work 9-9, for an hourly wage - judge their customers, who don't have to work, based on how they are dressed. David seems very knowledgable - and has probably the best selection of rugs anywhere, and fair prices - but he needs to learn how to treat women in America. My husband is not my master. If you want someone's business - you should not "assume" anything you do not know. His prices are good, supposedly because of the method of shipping to him as opposed to other dealers. Well David, should people assume because your rugs are $2K instead of $8K that your rugs are fake and machine made????? Don't assume you know everything about every dealer in this country. The first half of the showroom you walk into then you will be surprised by the massive other half around a wall. Super cool set up and very easy to find what we wanted. David and his staff were so sweet to lay all the rugs out for us and give us a full background on each one. After recent rains brought water into our home, we were in need of a professional rug cleaning for our 9' x 12' Persian rug. A gift from friends who had traveled through the region years prior, this is the "real deal" and we knew we needed to find a true professional to handle the cleaning. The last time we took it in for cleaning, about two years ago, we used a place on Westheimer near Fountainview which consistently gets good reviews, but were terribly disappointed. The rug smelled so strongly of chemicals, that even two years later we could still catch the scent. David was totally wonderful when we brought the rug in. He examined it closely, provided an appraisal, and agreed to work with us on the pick up time once it was clean knowing that our home may not be ready after the remodel that was necessary from the flooding. Weeks later, our home is finally back to normal and we've picked up the rug (without storage fees, as promised.) The difference from the last cleaning we had done is night and day. The rug looks a lot better and has virtually no smell. He was even able to remove a couple of very old stains. I traveled all over the Houston area in search of a quality rug for my transitional style living room. This was by far the most positive experience I've had throughout my search. Other places charged high prices, told me that I ought not judge a rug by its color, insulted my design choices, and practically drove me out of the store with their high pressure sales tactics. I am a homeowner, not a rug dealer, but I can tell you that I have had a thorough education in oriental rugs and am now well-versed in quality, thread count, and design aesthetics. Here, there were no high pressure sales tactics, just a professional sales staff that went above and beyond the call of duty. The price was reasonable, and the quality was quite good. His staff spent hours assisting me with my selections. I visited the store three times before making my final decision, and I did not feel pressured. Compared to other oriental rug stores, the designs in his collection are contemporary and the colors were beautiful. Defying the usual trend in rug stores, the owner actually encouraged me to wait to make my purchase because it was tax season, even though I liked the rug and was ready to purchase. He also let me take the rug home and try it out with my decor without charge. After almost six months of searching all the high end rug stores, furniture stores, and discount retailers in Houston, I finally purchased my rug here. I could not be happier with the final product. I went to David Oriental Rugs after reading all the stellar reviews it has received on Yelp. So my expectations were pretty high, but my in-store experience actually exceeded my expectations. The store is very large with a wide inventory of rugs. I was looking for something fairly specific and I was not hopeful I'd find it here as my initial impression was they carried a wide array of more traditional rugs. Mahan showed me a pile of rugs that he thought I'd like and he pretty much nailed it--I wanted something with red-orange as the predominant colour with a geometric, multi coloured motif. Actually, he had several rugs that fit my criteria. So I was very happy. The prices are absolutely unbeatable. I purchased an 8x10 Kazak handknotted wool rug for $1,900. I've been to other rug stores in town that didn't have near the selection that cost 3x what a better rug from David would cost. I asked how they kept prices so low, especially in comparison to other stores. The store is in a less expensive neighbourhood (next door to a great Arabic grocery store) and they ship rugs in bulk by sea container rather than more expensive modes of transportation, such as air. I'm so glad I found David Oriental Rugs. It's the first place I will go in the future for rug purchases or cleaning. I will also recommend without hesitation to friends and neighbours. read more

We wanted to take the time to write an accurate and detailed review of David's Oriental Rugs. This was our first oriental rug purchase, and it was a learning experience for us both. We first did as many of you are doing and did an extensive search on Yelp and Google to find which places around Houston were most reputable. Through our research, it didn't take long before we noticed review after review praising the professionalism and service they obtained at David's Oriental Rugs. We chose to go to David's and simply browse the rug selection and had envisioned a warehouse of rugs and salesmen who wanted to push rugs on you. We arrived to David's Oriental Rugs, and a man immediately greeted and welcomed us and asked how he could help. We asked if he was David, and he said yes. We informed him that we were in the market for a couple of rugs for our new home and he took us step-by-step through the rug purchasing process. He was able to help us find our style and taste and educated us on current, "trending" rugs. We found that our taste was very neutral in tone and color, but he insisted we not make a purchasing decision before seeing the rugs in our home and with our furniture. David and his exceptional team brought several rugs to our home and promised they wanted us to 100% satisfied with our ultimate selections. David and his team let us return and take other rugs a total of four times and at no point were David and his team pushy or impatient. We had a feeling David was having just as much fun as we were and could truly see his passion and knowledge in rugs. Each visit, he was taking notes about our taste and continued to suggest alternative rug designs to find us "our" rugs. After three weeks and trying over a dozen rugs, we were able to make a purchase two rugs that we couldn't be happier with. David Oriental Rugs is an authentic Persian rug store with beautiful rugs for sale. I took my genuine Persian rugs there to be thoroughly cleaned and maintained. Not only was the cleaning done by hand in a very careful manner, but they were also able to bind the ends to protect them from further wear. My two original rugs were inherited from my Armenian family in Lebanon. They are quite old and had not always been maintained well. I had also recently Aquired a silk vintage Persian rug which was a gamble because it had obviously been maltreated. David's Oriental Rugs was able to clean it well. It's beautiful. It was such a delight to see the colors re-emerge and to know that they will now last another generation or more. I am a Certified Professional Organizer who was working with a client who has several lovely rugs that hadn't been cleaned in close to 30 years. They were moving and we all agreed that the rugs needed to be cleaned before they were moved to the new house. Mahan came to pick up the rugs, carefully measured and assessed each rug.
