Bonus that your boots wont get muddy during the rainy season because the trail is on a boardwalk. You wont get scenic views of mountains, but you will get some wonderful views of majestic trees and moss covered streams. I'm not doing justice describing the view you see along the trail. It really is cool! The trail meanders and does go up and down steps so it may be steep in places. There are handrails during the places where there are steps. I'm definitely going back to check out this trail again!

We hiked this trail just north of Long Beach on a beautiful day. The 2km trail traverses through a…read morelush rainforest on boardwalks and over a number of streams via a series of wooden stair cases. When we arrived at the end of the trail, we discovered reaching the beach would involve clambering over a number of driftwood logs so we turned around and headed back. We were not a third of the way back when my wife slipped on one of the moss covered stairs, rolled her ankle and twisted her back. Fortunately her fall was into the soft, moss covered earth, but she ended up face to face to a 5 inch banana slug. We have taken several other trails in the Pacific Rim National Park and this was the best though you do have to be careful.

We passed this spot multiple times when driving to Tofino. We actually really wanted to do the…read morezipline, but unfortunately we were drained from traveling the day we arrived. Instead we took some photos and chatted with the employees. They were very helpful and offered a lot of information about the kayaking and ziplines. We watched others do the ziplines and saw the area where they take the kayaks out. What gorgeous land! It was exciting just to watch. Recommendation: Make your appointment before you arrive so you have a good time reserved. There's no guarantee if you just show up. We will definitely be back here soon, and when we do the zipline we'll add the photos and our experience on how much fun it is. Can't wait!

For 3 days we…read moresoaked in countless beautiful sights, lost track of how many eagles and otters we saw, learned new knowledge of the local area, ate incredible food, and enjoyed genuine connection and new friendships over crackling camp fires. We were so privileged to have Andy and Ben as our guides and what they contribute to this world is deeply meaningful. They met our humor, excitement, and passion step for step and this trip was made all the more incredible thanks to them. As Ben and Andy shared with us local history, resiliency of the Tofino community to protect the land, or fun facts about the local plants and animals - they spoke with such an overflowing passion that truly brought everything to life. They love what they do and it made our trip so much more fun and meaningful - all thanks to them. Extra Props: - Our paddle started in some challenging weather, yet Andy + Ben were great at reading our group and we always felt safe and supported in all conditions. - 10/10 shout out for the food. You won't go hungry as PWK plans for teas, coffee, snacks, and each meal was balanced and filling! They did a great job accommodating dietary preferences too. I still dream of the salmon chowder! - We saw: sea otters, seals, bald eagles, a pine marten, so many starfish, fried egg jellies, moon jellies, banana slugs, and a garter snake. - Our paddle was in late June and we had 1 day of heavy rain (which really added to the adventure!), 1 day of sun, and the last day was partly sunny with rain that evening. On our last day as our trip was coming to an end, my heart was as equally full as it was sad to be leaving. I only hope to make it back again sometime soon. If you're even remotely on the fence about taking a trip with Paddle West - DO IT!! I promise you'll love it and then some!

Sam, our guide, is studying oceanography, so was a good resource in showing us the sights as well as explaining about the currents and tidal flow in the area. The boats and gear were all good quality and using the online registration made check in a breeze. Our only negative was in the timing of the outing. The other group in our tour, a family, was late in arriving, then needed time to get organized. We ended up starting our on shore orientation quite late. In addition, we returned to the landing before the scheduled ending time. All in all, we lost probably 30 minutes of the scheduled 2 hour tour, which was a bit of a disappointment. Also, the level of paddling was easier than I would have liked, but that is to be expected in a shorter family - oriented trip like this. Overall, a fun was to enjoy the beautiful coastline around Tofino and learn a few things too.

She listened to what we wanted from the tour, was great about giving us some history of the area, and shared her knowledge about the local wildlife and ecology. This was our first real experience sea kayaking and I felt safe the entire time, and knew safety was of upmost importance to our guide. When the tour was over, we had coffee in the shop that's associated with Tofino Kayak, looking out over the water. Overall, a great experience, and would highly recommend this business.

Everyone else was probably spending their time whale watching, beachcombing, or kayaking. Just think about it, who the heck would even imagine a bog in a wet and rainy place like Tofino? Shorepine Bog Trail is part of Pacific Rim National Park, so expect good things. The entire trail is made of a wooden boardwalk and it's circles around a 800 metre loop. Once I hit the trail, I was awed by the "Out of Africa" landscape. My brain was like, woah, where are the lions, tigers, and giraffes? Unfortunately, the only animals that roam this trail are cougars and bears and they were plenty of warning signs. While I was walking the boardwalk, I was surrounded by dwarfed and twisted trees. They were like big bonzai trees and my head was just spinning with confusion. I wasn't prepared to see anything like it in Tofino. Luckily, there were enough green covered trees and plants to make this trail very photo friendly. This trail is a GEM!

The trail that meanders via a continuous boardwalk for 0.8 km through an area that receives 300 cm, 118 inches, of rain per year. The bonsai-like shore pines in the bog grow only meters tall in century due to the acidity in the soil. We spotted a few warblers flitting from bush to bush. We saw three or four eagles, starfish, sea ions, and various other birds. Chris was knowledgeable about the wildlife and history of the area that we were kayaking in but also had suggestions for us of other things to see and do while in the area on our honeymoon. We felt very comfortable with the covid health precautions they were taking. They provided us with jackets and water shoes which we turned it at the end to be washed and sanitized. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is I do find the price to be a bit high for the area you get to see. We would love to return in the future for one of the full day or multi day tours they offer outside of the harbour.
