Despite it being a cold day, it was packed with surfers ready to hit the waves. Thankfully, we claimed what I think was probably the last parking spot within walking distance. I needed to use the restroom, so I hit that first. Only one or two were in operation, sadly but at least they had them. There were also changing rooms available so that was nice for the surfers who were changing. The beach itself is cool. It butts up right against forest, so there were tons of old downed, sand-beaten trees that sculpted a beautiful backdrop for the mellow ocean waves. The beach itself was very clean & the walk was quite nice and serene. This beach is a nice little hidden (or maybe not-so-hidden treasure to find) and I welcome a return visit if we ever visited this area again.

Chesterman Beach was a nice stop for an evening walk. There were plenty of fire pits going with…read moregroups sitting around them on the driftwood. We saw a few people surfing as the sun was setting. It's perfect for an easy, long walk. It's a quick drive south of Tofino and we found it easy to park with a very short walk from the parking lot to the beach. There are restrooms near the parking lot as well. Overall, a great beach.

I came here in October during the evening, and there was only one person sitting on the beach. I was expecting more people because it was so beautiful. It was so quiet and peaceful too. I could only hear the waves and the wind blowing. The sands were almost completely untouched by beachcombers; so pristine, and very clean. The sunset on the beach was like a Roy Henry Vickers painting.

The whole park has just recently been completely updated with new trails, walkways and beach access. Parking is pretty limited. Walk down the path, down some cool stairs to the beach. It is quaint and very much undiscovered from the general tourist population. Talk about stereotypical west coast beauty. The rocks and trees make for a beautiful little cove. When you get down to the beach from the path, another trail picks up to another set of wooden stairs up to a wonderful trail system through the park. The trail walk took my wife and I about an hour with lots of breaks to enjoy the views and explore the surroundings. It was a great pre-lunch walk to build up our appetite to eat at Sobo nearby (best food in Tofino... scratch that, one of the best places on the Island!) This was my first discovery of the park/beach after seeing it on Yelp and it did not disappoint. Tonquin Park will be one of the places I will visit every time I go to Tofino from now on.

Super easy to rent boards and wet suits, especially during COVID. Filled out our forms outside, got our wet suits and as we came back to the car, the staff had already strapped the boards on. Such efficiency!!

This has been the worst customer service we've EVER experienced from a campground. We booked 4…read moresites with our extended family back in October and we're told that we'd have to move to a different site for our last 2 days. That's alright, we understand they're booked up. But what made zero sense was when we noticed the site we were to move to had been vacant for 24hrs prior to us moving, they wouldn't let us move over to it 2 hours earlier. They kept saying it "was their policy that you can't move early or you're charged a $25 fine", shouldn't your policy be to make sure the guests have the best possible experience, especially when they're having to move campsites mid stay? When my father-in-law tried to reasons with them they were completely rude and unsympathetic. He's a retired CPA and when he said that in all his years of owning businesses he'd never treated customers like that, the manager insulted him saying his businesses probably all failed. Seriously?! What kind of manager insults their customers? When my FIL tried to explain that we had a trailer, a puppy and a 3 year old with us and it would really help out if we could move early the manager just said "I don't care". "I don't care" sums up the experience here. The showers are filthy and cost a fortune. $2 for 2 minutes. There are literally holes in the shower walls between stalls where the wood has rotted away and people can peep through and see you. At one point a staff member was using a leaf blower to blow dirt? pine needles? who knows what! off the road but all she succeeded in doing was blowing dust all over the campsites. Our clothes that were hanging out to dry were covered with dust. My sister-in-law is in a tent site and there has been a dog barking all night every night in the site next to them and no staff have done anything about it. DON'T STAY HERE! Campgrounds shouldn't be allowed to get away with such horrible customer service just because they're in a nice location. Oh and we've also heard from others that they've been denied their refunds even if cancelling within the allowed cancellation window

Husband and I did a private 2.5 hour harbor tour. The first half hour was set up (all essentials…read moreprovided including water shoes, glasses strap, phone holder, dry bag, spray skirt, and of course lifejacket), instruction, and safety (we had 4 bald eagles fly directly overhead during the set-up!) then we were out on the water with our guide, Hailey. She listened to what we wanted from the tour, was great about giving us some history of the area, and shared her knowledge about the local wildlife and ecology. This was our first real experience sea kayaking and I felt safe the entire time, and knew safety was of upmost importance to our guide. When the tour was over, we had coffee in the shop that's associated with Tofino Kayak, looking out over the water. Overall, a great experience, and would highly recommend this business.
