One of the most beautiful and relaxing coastal walks in Ucluelet. We visited the Ucluelet Lighthouse Loop, a 2.6 km loop trail that is part of the Wild Pacific Trail, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish.
The trail begins with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, there are countless benches perfectly placed at scenic viewpoints, making it easy to slow down, sit, and enjoy the waves, coastline, and peaceful surroundings. This is an easy trail that is suitable for visitors of all ages and hiking levels.
The lighthouse itself is not accessible, but it is still a beautiful historic landmark. The current lighthouse structure replaced the original and has been standing since 1915, adding a bit of history to the coastal adventure.
At the end of the Ucluelet Lighthouse Loop, before heading back toward the Whale parking lot, you can also explore the BOG Interpretive Loop. This short section is a great addition to learn more about the different plants and unique coastal ecosystem.
Parking is free, and the lighthouse loop can be completed in about 45-60 minutes. However, with so many stunning lookout points and benches along the way, it is easy to spend an entire afternoon here just enjoying the views and peaceful moments.
For photographers, this trail is a must-visit. Sunrise, sunset, or even storm season can create incredible ocean views and dramatic coastal photos.
