She listened to what we wanted from the tour, was great about giving us some history of the area, and shared her knowledge about the local wildlife and ecology. This was our first real experience sea kayaking and I felt safe the entire time, and knew safety was of upmost importance to our guide. When the tour was over, we had coffee in the shop that's associated with Tofino Kayak, looking out over the water. Overall, a great experience, and would highly recommend this business.

Well, it was T.J.'s dog, Sawyer, who went with us on the boat, but it was a dog and we watched him. What a laid-back, loving boy he is. We watched a sow and her cub forage on the beach for about a half an hour. In the kayaks, we could get closer than any of the boats could. What a treat! Then we watched maybe 20 or 30 harbor seals sunning on an island. So, if you're headed to Tofino, you MUST contact Black Bear Kayaking. Worth every penny and they don't charge extra for Sawyer!

Clayoquot Sound: A Kayaking Trip To Remember…read more Make sure you take a kayaking trip while visiting Tofino. We signed up for a tour with Black Bear Kayaking. Our tour guide Colin was awesome. Kayaking and hiking with him felt like hanging out with an old mate. He was also very knowledgeable about the trees and plants on our hiking trip. We highly recommend this tour. This was my third sea kayaking trip, and it won't be our last. We really enjoyed ourselves and were so proud of ourselves that we were able to paddle through the tidal currents. Our wildlife viewings included bald eagles, seals and crabs on bull kelp. The hiking portion of the trip was fabulous. It was a nice walk on an old boardwalk. This forest had some incredibly old and very large red cedar and western hemlock trees. You could sit there for hours to stare at the trees and plants. A four hour paddle (more like five) on Clayoquot Sound and hike through the ancient Big Tree Trail on Meares Island - magnificent!

Our group of 3 had contacted GPO for rates and information for our 5 day kayaking trip to the Broken Group Islands and were completely blown away with the service that GPO provided and were very impressed with how knowledgeable Dane was of the area. This guy loves what he does. The rates are very competitive and you get a lot of added flexibility. If you are heading out to the Broken Group Islands, you can schedule in when you want to be dropped off/picked up as well as time and location. On top of that, there is only an additional $5 - $10 charge per person for some of the more distant islands. The best part is, GPO tries to get you as close as possible to your drop off point so that the initial paddle isn't too arduous. The only downside is that you need to drive out to Bamfield which means you are driving down a gravel path once you pass Port Alberni. However, the trip down there is well worth it and I will definitely use GPO again!

Instead we took some photos and chatted with the employees. They were very helpful and offered a lot of information about the kayaking and ziplines. We watched others do the ziplines and saw the area where they take the kayaks out. What gorgeous land! It was exciting just to watch. Recommendation: Make your appointment before you arrive so you have a good time reserved. There's no guarantee if you just show up. Chris was knowledgeable about the wildlife and history of the area that we were kayaking in but also had suggestions for us of other things to see and do while in the area on our honeymoon. We felt very comfortable with the covid health precautions they were taking. They provided us with jackets and water shoes which we turned it at the end to be washed and sanitized. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is I do find the price to be a bit high for the area you get to see. We would love to return in the future for one of the full day or multi day tours they offer outside of the harbour.

Tour: we took the 8 am whale watching tour out of Ucelulet. It was so foggy the entire 3.5 hours of the tour we could barely see 5 meters ahead. I know it wasn't there fault, but the staff barely interacted with the passengers and we were so bored we fell asleep. That's a pricey $140 nap. The coffee and blankets provided were nice. Customer service: while in their T&Cs, it was nice that if you don't see any whales you can do another tour for free. But you couldn't use it for a different tour AND it's standby only. So there's no guarantee you'll get a seat. Their staff handled this news terribly and kind of pulled it out of their hat without any transparency or apology. To top it off, we grabbed lunch up the street and 1.5 hours later came back to use the washroom before hitting the road back home. There is an elderly lady that works there and she literally snapped her fingers at me to get me out of the washroom, even when explaining I literally just came from one of their tours that morning. There's many other companies that offer these tours. I suggest looking elsewhere. When you're spending $140 for an experience, I expect incredible customer service, not being snapped at like a child.
