The mushroom starter in dough was amazing. Delicate mushroom flavors came through with a subtle cream sauce. I had the gnocchi which were delicious and we also had the veal steak. I can't find anything negative to say. As Americans they offered us a take out bag for what I could not finish. I am delighted!!! Ambiance transported me to a small bistro in any European city. Certainly competes with the best.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and there is always a relaxing ambience, which makes a great intimate dinner, either with your partner or with a family. At first when you enter the restaurant you are seated in a little section designated for pre-drinks and nibbles before being taken through to the main restaurant for dinner, where the food is served not long after being sat down. This is great as means can have relaxing chat before being sat down for dinner. The menu is in Italian, with English underneath, with a large focus on beef, chicken and seafood. This restaurant is suited to kids as the chefs will make anything plain if you ask for it. Furthermore, this restaurant has a dessert trolley with all homemade fresh Italian puddings and you can choose there and then which one takes your fancy. I would highly recommend this place for a truly special dinner.

Catching up with my reviews - ate here on 14th September, in my bid to try out the new local…read moreplaces. Very busy restaurant and had to book in advance to try it out, following a takeaway option the week beforehand (which was very average). Extremely modern fresh interior and friendly enough welcome in. Was a noisy night as a live band was playing at the other end of the restaurant. Sat us down at the end of the restaurant in a booth and waited a few minutes before getting waiter back to ask for drinks. Ordered a bottle of wine and soft drinks. 25 minutes later... they appear back.. Not a good start already, given the waitress had taken our food order before the chap came back with 2 soft drinks and a bottle! Mum was the only one to order a starter of minestrone soup & as you can see from the photos - a tuscan bean soup would be a better description, not a minestrone soup of any shape or form. No one came over to ask how it was either. Mains arrived shortly after and I went for Milanese Chicken with pasta, mum had pasta with spicy sausage and Fi, pasta with prawns. Side order of focaccia bread. Simplest way to describe the food. Bland and tasteless. No seasoning in any of the dishes whatsoever. Pasta was dry and not fresh tasting in the slightest. Worst part - the bread. It wasn't cooked and dough was still raw all across the edges and the rock salt... OMG.. Anymore thrown on & I'd be in hospital! Not to worry... oh wait, thats right, no one came over again to ask how things were, or even acknowledged you at the table. Didn't eat much, but still opted to try desserts to get a better feel for the place on a review. Sticky Toffee and Tiramisu are always winners & they were okay - not stand out, but the better out of the 3 courses. Another thing that lets this place down, is the ambience or lack of. It's just so loud in here with the tunnel design and you can't hear yourself or talk without raising your voice. I was quite disappointed with Nonnas Kitchen, given the takeaway the week before wasn't great, but put that down to it being a takeaway. Clearly, things don't improve much eating in food or service wise. Popular down to nothing else is really in Kirky and it's big and modern. Not a winner with me or anyone that expects freshly cooked and lovingly prepared food/service. You Don't Gotta Eat Here... Sadly!

All was delicious and flavorful. The salad was beautiful - everything you would want in a salad. I would have liked more cheese on my dish, but it was good. The pasta was also al dente - something I'm not accustomed to, but it was good and freshly made. Service was excellent. We were seated quickly and servers were attentive. It was a noisy place - very busy - but with a good vibe. We were seated near the kitchen so we could watch the chefs. One gentleman ran his ungloved hand through his hair, put the hat back on and then proceeded to grab a ball of fresh noodles and drop them in the water. The gloved hand wasn't used. I don't know what to think, but not very sanitary, but then nothing the boiling water wouldn't take care of either. ;) The cook staff were constantly busy and were not standing around. The system worked well and our meal was served quickly. A good thing when you're hungry. I would recommend Sugo to spice up your visit in Glasgow.

It's one of the most authentic Italian restaurants I've been to, without a doubt, and it's because of Pino's exquisite style of old school Italian cooking. The service is always absolutely perfect; friendly, welcoming and warm, without being in your face. Even though I think Pino should have a restaurant that can seat 1,000 with this quality food, the restaurant is very small and only has about 10-15 tables. Topping everything off with an extensive wine menu, and a full bar, I see no faults with this place. The menu is brand new every day because Pino only makes meals that day using the ingredients he has. I love this aspect because every time I've been the menu has been so different, as it changes with the seasons and with the chef's mood. You can order from the menu normally, e.g. starter, main, dessert, but every time I've been I've gone for the gourmet tasting menu. This is a 7 course meal consisting of 3 starters, a pasta main, a fish main, a meat main, and a trio of desserts, all very small in size. For £25.95 it's absolutely fantastic. This evening as always, I chose the tasting menu. The most exciting aspect is you don't get to choose what you're having; Pino does. So even if you went two days in a row and the menu was the same, you could have 7 different things. Tonight's 3 starters consisted of Smoked Duck Salad, Grilled Asparagus in oil and vinegar, and Stuffed Aubergines. Absolutely heavenly. Our pasta main course was Tortelloni with Ham and Black Truffle in a Creamy Sauce. The fish was Salmon alla Romana, and we had an Aberdeen Angus Fillet, cooked rare to perfection, for our meat main. Without a doubt the best steak I've ever tasted. The trio of desserts consisted of homemade apple cake, homemade dark chocolate mousse, and a selection of berries drizzled in maple syrup. This place is absolutely outstanding, and despite the fact it's not in the city centre, I would definitely advise making a point to get out to this place for a meal. You definitely would not regret it!

The fake fireplace humoured us at first but later on we forgot about it and it seemed like the real thing. We were happy, warm, and in good spirits. Gorgeous was the creamy carbonara with Parmagiano and Amatriciana, which were wallops of a finish to the nights eats. The staff were lovely, the male wait person in particular was very accommodating and his sincerity was felt. We really wanted to do dessert..but alas again too full! Why did I not see Donald and Peter's rave reviews before now? The world is a cruel and wicked place, but I have to let bygones be bygones and accepted that I am, indeed, a douche for not finding this place sooner. Nestled in Mount Florida near Hampden Park, you wouldn't necessarily find this little place. From the outside it looks nothing more that your typical Italian joint. Almost neglected you may say. There's nothing particularly appealing about the shop front. Furthermore as they have no website I had no real idea what to expect food wise. So, I went in completely blind, not knowing anything. First impressions were excellent, very cosy, only 8 or 9 tables, nice Italian music in the background, the chatter of Italian in the kitchen and amongst the waiters. It all boded very well. We ordered some drinks and after a quick rummage through the menu (which all looked great, and very well priced) we were recited the specials of the day. In true Italian style we took the plunge and went for a mega feast of four courses. Nothing particularly challenging for a Wednesday night I must say. To begin, we had a duo of bruschettas - one, a classic tomato and the other with friarielli (or Italian wild broccoli). Afterwords we had a wonderful seafood caserecce pasta dish (primo) with fresh clams and squid. It tasted just like the real stuff I would get in Italy. After, yes there was more (or a secondo), a huge fitto misto (which we shared) which is basically battered and fried seafood. The batter was so light and crisp, and served with lemon its a simple and easy dish that is difficult to top. Finally for desert was a home-made amarena cherry and amaretto cheesecake. It was oh so rich and creamy. Exquisite!!! All this was washed down with some rather darn fine Soave white wine, and the best part was the final bill, incredibly good value for money considering the quantity and the amazing quality of the food we had. I could not recommend this place enough. A real proper Italian restaurant, which is going straight into my top Italian eateries list. I simply cannot wait to go back.
