*CASH ONLY* A server at a restaurant downtown recommended we stop here for dessert! Boy am I glad we did! There was a crazy long car line so we decided to park and walk in. There were 5 people in front of us, we waited outside for about 6 minutes. Upon entry we were all torn from so many great options. Each of us made our order and when it came time to pay, we were informed it was cash only. I only had $16 on me, so we had to take one item off. Overall the ice cream was amazing one sundae is sharable! Will for sure be stopping in again when we make trips to starved rock!

Stopped here on our way home from Starved Rock Park. Overall it was a great stop. It did take a while to get served it seemed most of the team was focused on the people in the drive thru not people walking in. Once we finally got to order and got our orders it was fantastic. Husband and I went with dipped cones. They were delicious. I love good soft serve and this was good soft serve! Got a little messy because the melting cone was going through the opening at the bottom of the chocolate but was still good. Wish I lived closer to try more on the menu. There are so many fun options

Really lovely soft serve in classic vanilla, chocolate or twist. Plenty of toppings! The cones are huge! I was glad they offered baby cones that was just enough for the little ones.

    They only take cash.

During my brief visit to Ottawa, I was told Tone's Cones was the place to be on a hot summer's night. Long lines awaited us in both the drive thru and walk up so we decided to stay in the AC while we waited for our turn to order. It wasn't long before an employee was walking up to the car asking what we wanted. As a visitor that had never been to this place before I was hoping to see a menu before ordering. I asked for another minute, scrambled for a menu online, and was still looking when the employee returned less than a minute later to retrieve my order. I ended up just getting a basic cone with sprinkles. As my stars indicate it was A-OK. Not better or worse than a classic Dairy Queen. I think I might have appreciated more of the charm of this local joint if it 1) wasn't so crowded, 2) wasn't during the time of COVID, and 3) I had a chance to peruse and choose.

A small Ice Cream Shop in Ottawa IL that is loaded up with nothing but Big Flavors Of Sweetest. Ottawa 1# HotSpot for some good Ice Cream. Yes, I Scream Ice Cream, sundaes, shakes and funnel cakes. There is just so many interesting goodies to choose off this menu. Cloud Cone (cotton candy that is spun around on a sugar cone with your favorite flavor of soft serve ice cream with toppings. Smores Sundae, Confetti Flurry. You get my point. LOL Just a variety of sweet and tasty flavors. Nice portion size and reasonable prices. The Drive Thru was packed with cars around this tiny shop but the employees moved fast with accuracy. Fast and Friendly Service. I wish Tone's Cones could relocate to the Chicago Area. Watch Out Dairy Queen

Cute little ice cream place with a unique menu but also has all the classics. My turtle sundae was amazing!

We had burgers and milkshakes that were solidly good and really hit the spot as we were stopping here along the way home from a long road trip. What really sets this place apart is the service! Everyone here was so friendly - and even though this is very much a "local" spot we felt completely welcomed. When they found out that we were from out of town they immediately asked us if we wanted a picture outside with Papa Burger and one of the waitresses enthusiastically led us outside for photos. This is exactly what you want from a small town root beer stand - a homey vibe, great food and friendly service!!

Just a heads up that it is a cash-only spot, though they do have an ATM on-site if you need it. The service was quick and incredibly polite from start to finish. Food-wise, the burger was fairly plain but was cooked well, and the fries had a great texture and crunch even if they were a bit bland on seasoning. The side salad was essentially just chopped lettuce, but it was noticeably crisp and fresh. Overall, it is a fun, nostalgic pit stop with friendly service if you are looking for a quick bite.
