Okanogan Valley Veterinary Clinic - Miley

While outside doing chores, my dog was shot with a gun! It happened in the evening (it was just getting dusky out side). I called the emergency number, and lucky for me, Dr. Rust was on-call that evening. I had difficulty getting my dog's bleeding to stop. Dr. Rust gave me instructions to care for my dog until I could get to the clinic. I live approx 1.5 hours away from the clinic but I felt like Dr. Rust was right by my dog's side the entire time. Dr. Rust has the experience to care for animals in critical emergent situations (with successful outcomes) and to manage your pets health overall health (vaccinations, wellness checks)‍‍‍

Never having been here before my first impression was that it was a very tidy, well kept, spacious clinic. We showed up with no appointment but the staff worked us in and we were seen immediately. It turned out that my girl had a serious infection raging inside her and needed hospitalization. After meeting Fallon and hearing her plan of action and going over our options I had no doubt that she would be well cared for and that Miley would have her best chance if she stayed with Fallon, as opposed to us trying to treat her at home. Unfortunately my girl didn't make it through the night but I really can't thank Fallon enough for sacrificing her weekend to care for my baby. We received regular updates on her condition and i truly feel that Fallon did all she could for Miley with the resources available to her. Her care, compassion, and professionalism to Miley, myself, and my husband will forever be appreciated.

Animal Hospital of Omak

Animal Hospital of Omak

1 Star I had an…read moreextremely upsetting experience with Omak Animal Hospital and would not recommend them. Last week, my 14-year-old Yorkie was in critical condition. I called around desperately trying to find help and was told by Becky I had to pay $130 upfront just to be seen because it was considered an emergency. After arriving, we waited about 45 minutes while my dog continued to struggle. When we were finally seen, the vet provided a high-cost estimate that only addressed symptoms and did not give us clear guidance on whether this was end-of-life. Then we were told the clinic was closing for lunch and we could return later--but likely wouldn't be seen again for hours. At that point, we left because our dog needed immediate care. We went to Okanogan Veterinary Clinic instead, where they got us in right away and treated us with compassion and honesty. We ultimately had to put our dog down. The situation got worse afterward. A week later, Omak Animal Hospital called demanding payment for labs. When I called to pay the $200 bill, Becky told me it was now $250 because they had "held a spot" for me. She also claimed my initial $130 payment had been reversed (which I did not do), She accused me of stopping my bank from payment, and said I owed $200 plus additional fees of 50$ because they held a spot for us! When I tried to resolve the situation and pay what I owed, Becky transferred me to Cindy, who was immediately rude, talked over me, and threatened collections and small claims court. She also said she didn't trust me to call back and pay, even though I was actively trying to pay during that call. This experience was stressful, unprofessional, and completely lacking compassion--especially during a time when I had just lost my dog. I strongly suggest going somewhere else for care.

Do not take your beloved pet here. The receptionist was…read moreextremely nice, but there was a woman beside the main veterinarian (possibly an intern) whose behaviors were creepy. This woman (bob light brown or blonde, tall, slender ) came into the room I was waiting for a veterinarian, stood and said nothing. I had to ask if she was there to look at my cat. She was extremely ill mannered the entire time. She commanded me to hold my cat, then without any warnings, she inserted a stick into my cat anal. If she told me that's what she was going to do, I would cover my cat's head and legs with a cloth. When I explained to her about the cares received from another veterinarian prior, she acted as if I was lying and said " what? is it really? oh, I have to check that", and ran to back room. When I showed her my cat's woulds, she just stood in the room, and ignored me. I suggest you don't let this woman touch your pet or even come close to you and pet. Her behaviors are disgusting.

Keystone Animal Rescue

Keystone Animal Rescue

I question how good of an organization the Keystone Animal Rescue in Riverside, WA really is. I…read morehappen to know that they adopted out a rescue dog to a family that does not have a permanent address & is living in an RV on someone else' property. Most good rescue organizations screen their applicants very carefully and require a fenced yard. Without proper screening of the applicants to make sure these animals are going to good homes, Keystone Animal Rescue may be setting that poor animal up for future failures, abuse, neglect and abandonment. I also happen to know that the people who adopted the dog didn't have the $50.00 for the adoption fee and the person at the rescue facility told them they could go ahead and take the dog and pay the fee later...THEY NEVER DID. What kind of a rescue organization does that? If adopters can't afford a $50.00 adoption fee, they can't afford to be adopting a dog in the first place. The worst thing is this dog is in serious need of dental attention and turned out to be pregnant. It had three babies and only one lived. What kind of a responsible rescue organization adopts out animals without having them vet checked, spayed or neutered and medical/dental issues dealt with before adopting the animal out in the first place. I gave this facility one (1) star because I like to think that the woman's heart was in the right place to begin with but she is poorly equipped (in experience, financially, and with business/management sense) to run her rescue facility the way it should be run. I usually use Yelp to praise well run businesses and organizations, but this has bothered me so much that I just felt I had to speak out. People, I urge you to do your due diligence and research a rescue organization before dropping off a stray, abused or neglected animal to such a poorly run organization. Make sure the organization tends to the animals medical needs, spays and neuters the animals, updates the animals on their inoculations and, above all, screens the prospective adopters to make sure that the unfortunate animal in their care is going to be going to a good, safe home. For the animal's sake. Thank you.

I would just like to say, that I really appreciate this facility as it is the only one of its kind…read morein all of Okanogan county. There is a real loss of any animal rescue services what so ever within a 200 mile radius, and this place is the only one that takes in stray or abandoned animals in the area. Without this place all of these animals would be left for dead, so before you judge the specific details of what an animal rescue should or should not be, think about the resources available in this area and the alternative for these animals. They all deserve a good home regardless of their current level of care, please know that if you are adopting a dog you should plan on having to take them to a vet and incur some expenses for their care, sometimes the facility is just not able financially to do all of this for you. I adopted two of my rescue dogs from this place and they had been found in a box, on the side of a main highway, and would most certainly have died there. They had been vaccinated and were well taken care of at keystone, I will be forever thankful. I would recommend if possible that all who read this please offer donations to this wonderful place, for the sake of all the animals in the Okanogan county. Thank you.

We looked for a service that would come to our home and anesthetize Sophie while we held her. We found Nicole Vega of Hummingbird Veterinary who came promptly. She answered all our questions and offered all of the other end-of-life services that might be required. After anesthetizing Sophie, she lined up a cremation service, source for an urn with inscription, and took Sophie with her to follow through on all those services. Dr. Vega was thorough and compassionate at every step of the process. She was thoughtful enough to create a clay medallion with Sophie's foot prints impressed in it (see pic). It turns out that Dr. Vega is well known and highly regarded in this area. She substitutes for other veterinarians when asked. We've decided to take advantage of the preventative care service she offers. Her philosophy of "an oz. of prevention is worth a lb. of cure" makes excellent sense in a time when other veterinarians are scheduling their services one to two months out. Her services to us were 5-Stars!

I feel very fortunate Dr. Vega was available for us - she was so organized, communicative, and professional from the first email communication until her departure from our home. I was really impressed with her calm demeanor, that it was important to her that we were all as comfortable as could be before moving forward, and that we had all our questions and concerns addressed. She was kind and efficient in all the right ways and I wouldn't hesitate to call upon her again or recommend her to a friend. Thank you, Dr. Vega, for your compassion in such a difficult time. You are a blessing!
