First time user of Aspen Kennels. It was very refreshing and a relief for me when I drove up to see the dogs and employees all at playing in the snow. The area was secure and clean. My dog and I were greeted by a friendly and happy employee. I felt comfort in leaving my dog there for a few days. Rates are very reasonable. Employees attentive and kind. When I returned to pick up my dog they didn't know I was there yet - I noticed how kind they were treating the other dogs. Mine looked comfortable around them. Definitely will use Aspen Kennels again. My pup seemed happy and tired. Big bonus is that she didn't stink - which is the usual from other boarding places. read more

OUTSTANDING!!! Sherry and her team are friendly, knowledgeable and extremely caring for the dogs they care for. We usually board our dog at a local in kennel in Burlington, WA. when we go away for a night or more; we just made a last minute decision to go to Winthrop for the night over Memorial Day weekend and our local kennel was full so I did some research and found Aspen Kennels in Winthrop. Our dog had the vacation of her life! The large yards were perfect for her to run around and play with the other dogs of similar size and temperament and she was cared for by the staff as if she was their own family pet. We have found our new favorite kennel anytime we go east again. read more

We needed a place for our dog to be safe and not barking while we were staying in Winthrop, so we could ski for the day without worrying about her. We felt so lucky to find Sherry and Aspen kennels. The whole process was very easy - made an appointment, sent over our vet vaccination records and dropped off our precious family member. I felt so at ease with Sherry - lovely and calm and the type of person your dog likes straight away :) Aspen kennels was a beautiful spot with place for the dogs to run in Summer or chill out in the cabin in the Winter. Honestly, a one star is generous for this place. When we went to pick up our dog after a two night stay, he was in the wrong kennel & eating the wrong dog's food which he proceeded to throw up the minute he was let out of the kennel. His bed was in the kennel with the other dog and he did not receive at least three doses of medicine which he needs as he is an older dog with health issues. As well, there was food left over and we had left the exact amount of food to be fed while we were gone. Regardless of having "staffing issues" (doesn't everyone) none of this should have of happened. It took 2 phone calls & 2+ hours before they even called me back to discuss this horrible experience. There is no excuse for this and I would highly recommend finding a dog sitter or some other place beside this kennel. read more

I left my dog, Mocha, with Sherry for July 4th weekend. From all appearances, Mocha had a great time. Although I don't mind boarding Mocha when she has to sleep in a crate, I was pleasantly surprised that Sherry has large pens for each dog to sleep in rather than a crate. I'd definitely bring Mocha here again. read more

We were camping in the Methow Valley over 4th of July weekend, and wanted to spend a day down at Alta Lake kayaking with the kids and decided to see if there was any doggy daycare we cold drop our pup at for the day and found Aspen Kennels online and were able to get Roslyn in for the day. The property was beautiful and the owners were kind and could tell loved animals as much as us. We felt no hesitation leaving Roslyn for the day and 7 hours later when we picked her up she was just as happy as could be. Needless to say after a day at Aspen she was ready for a long nights sleep. We will definitely be using Aspen Kennels the next time that we are in Winthrop and want Roslyn to have a play day as well! read more

Owners were nice to listen to my concerns about my dog and his ability to get along with other dogs. With a large outdoor play area my dog did well with the other dogs who were grouped by size/activity level. WE had a happy and tired dog at the end of the day. Great place for dog daycare! We took our GSD and Rottweiler here while visiting Winthrop so they could have some fun while we were riding bikes. There were 6-8 other dogs there, and they all appeared to be having a great time. The fenced area was nice and large and well kept. It was important to us to not have our dogs locked in a 4x8 chain link, cement kennel, and this place delivered an open, green space that was perfect for the day! Our dogs were so exhausted, they went to bed early. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Aspen Kennels when I boarded my young Weimaraner over the holidays. The facility was clean and the customer service was excellent. They really made an effort to make sure my dog got exercise and stimulation-- so important for a Weim! It was my first time using a boarding facility, and I was initially apprehensive about boarding a young working-dog-in-training, but if I'm ever back in the area, I will certainly use Aspen Kennels again. read more

I was passing through town to visit family when my grandmother passed away and we had to fly to LA for her funeral. Boarded my dog and my aunts dog Mon-Thurs evening. My dog had a large chunk missing out of his leg and my aunt's dog was showing ribs (but his food bag was low). My Rhodesians wound is about an inch wide with visible tendon. Sherri was conveniently unable to be there at pick up and claims she didn't notice my dogs wound. She offered to pay for a vet visit. I took him Friday morning and Winthrop Vet (they were wonderful) said it was too old to sew shut so gave me cleaning pads and medication. Sherri first told the vet to add to her bill then called back to say no during our appointment. I paid a portion of the bill and took the remaining invoice to her kennel and to show her his wound. She said he wasn't in a fight. So I said she may have some sharp edges on her property. She said maybe it was from playing with my aunts puppy..clearly reaching for an excuse. Regardless of how it happened, if she fed him, she would have immediately seen the wound..upfront and gaping on his front leg. No way to miss it. I told her had she called to tell me he had an accident, I would have paid the visit. But she neglected to do anything. Sherri eventually snatched the invoice from me, said "no good deed goes unpunished" and stormed away. I asked her to remain standing close by while I called vet to get a group confirmation she was paying the rest. She shut the gate in my face, stomped back to the office and angrily yelled 20yds away the vet phone number off the invoice before slamming the office door before they could even answer. She may be great for day visits because all she does is put them in the yard and let them do what they want unsupervised. I would not recommend overnight care here. So much neglect. Poorly handled. I will be reporting to the BBB for future occurrences at this establishment. ** Scratch that...she is not registered with BBB and her LLC is nonexistent as she told me she does not have insurance. read more

We needed to find a kennel for our pup while attending the Winthrop R&B Festival and were fortunate enough to find Aspen. Shadow needs a little special attention due to some bad experiences in the past, and Sherry was able to accommodate our needs.. Last summer, we were vacationing in the Winthrop area. One of the resorts where we stayed had a "no pets" policy, so we kenneled Moka at Aspen Kennels. Since she was free to socialize with other dogs and have lots of area to explore, she was a happy camper! Now, we are happy to drive four hours each way to kennel Moka when we're going to be gone several days. We know she will be well taken care of and feel loved. What a great place! read more

Perfect place to bring your dog for daycare, especially for rock climbers visiting Mazama (only 15 mins away). The owners immediately answered their phone when I made my last minute appt the day before (also a plus!) and were extremely friendly and flexible. They have tons of space, green grass, fresh air and just an overall calm space for the dogs. They charge the lowest I've seen for dog daycare, but provide top dollar value. Drop off/pick up times are 7am-7pm, which is also very convenient. Best of all my dog was wiped by the end of the day, which is a hard feat for him. Definitely recommend for anyone in the area. read more

Sherry was extremely friendly and helpful. I called an hour before I wanted to drop off my dog for the day! The facilities are fabulous--the dogs get to socialize and play in a large fenced area instead of just being in a kennel all day. You'll almost feel guilty paying such a low rate! Aspen Kennels was a great help for us with our 2-yr old German Shepherd. We had a wedding to attend along with a late reception and our dog had never been with anyone else. We made a short-notice reservation and it was immediately clear to us when we dropped him off that Sherry & Thom are very good with dogs. Thom took him into the common yard - his pack - and clearly had all dogs under control and close supervision. Nico got his first night away from us. Next morning, he was well-rested and relaxed - no evidence of any stress or discomfort. We had no idea of what to expect from Nico and told Thom and Sherry. Nevertheless, they were happy to see him and were so confident and in complete control. His visit to Aspen, and our biggest problem solved - what to do with the dog - helped make our vacation time in Winthrop so much fun. We are so very grateful. Aspen Kennels saved the day! I love Aspen Kennels. The dogs are given freedom to roam inside the fence and interact with each other without being confined to a tight space. I dropped my off my 15 yo lab twice during my recent visit to the Methow while I went hiking. Sherry balanced her time outdoors (very hot weather) with time indoors where it is air conditioned. The kennel was also very flexible since I wasn't sure which days I would hike. I would definitely use Aspen again!! read more

amazing place to take your dog for boarding.I was vacationing in winthrop and my resort didn't allow my Bingo to stay with me..in a panic mode..I called many kennels..but sherry was the only hope I could find.Took care of my bingo..the place is awesome.
