I called Tom's for a repair on a Subzero freezer that was flooding my kitchen due to ice maker water line break. Tom and his son were prompt and very courteous. They fix the leak and replace the icemaker since it was badly corroded. Tom gave me other great advice regarding the maintenance of my stove and a flat top grill. Much to my surprise, the following day, I received a phone call from Tom checking in on the quality of the ice and his work. Called Tom about my over-the-range microwave oven that started making a horrible noise, and asked whether he would recommend fixing it or buying a new one, in which case I asked him if he would install it. On the phone he seemed courteous, knowledgeable and professional. He asked me to send him some pictures of the microwave, which I promptly emailed to him. Then--nothing. More than two weeks later, and after I sent him two more emails asking whether he got my pictures, and left two phone messages, I've heard nothing back. He seems to have ghosted me for no discernible reason. He may know how to repair appliances, but what good is that if he ignores potential customers who try to engage his services? I recommend giving him a hard pass and finding someone more reliable and responsive. read more

I've used Tom's Appliance Repair Service two occasions. First one my Wolf stove oven door was not properly closing. Tom came by offered to replace the closing mechanism or fix and adjust the existing one. We discussed the issue and he suggested to adjust the mechanism which took care of the problem. He also adjusted and leveled the stove and oiled the knobs to turn easily. Price was minimal. Second issue was a rental refrigerator that had a bad door seal in the refrigerator. I sent Tom the Placard information and he suggested for me to order the part Via Amazon. He gave tips on installation or offered to come bye and install it himself. I tried do it myself and Walla! Do not waste your time on this guy. He is rude and unprofessional. It's obvious the positive reviews for this guy are not reliable. I called him to see about getting a quote, got his voicemail, left him a message. He responded via text using his email address, not even his phone number, saying: "Were u located at what brand of machines." I replied with the information he requested, and radio silence. I figured I'd give him the benefit of the doubt; maybe he was at a job site. So I waited several hours and sent him a second message, asking him if he works on the brand I mentioned. Excellent service, good price and fixed our washing machine the same day, in the evening. Tom was proactive, did some troubleshooting over the phone, asked me to take a picture of the washing machine and brought with him an extra motor ahead of time. It's exactly what the machine needed! Tom and his son have done warranty repair work on my Viking refrigerator. Each time they replace more parts. This last time they replaced 3 different parts. When I returned home after being gone for 10 days, the refrigerator was at a temperature of 78 degrees. Obviously all of the food was spoiled. Today they came to fix the refrigerator again said they need to replace another part. Furthermore, Tom will tell you an appointment time but he shows up much later. The work was covered under warranty and that is why I had to use this company. The most disturbing in his recent two service calls is he was called about a beeping sound. After replacing multiple parts, he stated he wasn't sure if the parts were the most up to date with our model! Then the unit stoped cooling. Tom is not only a great appliance repair guy, but he is also very honest and customer oriented. We came back from a trip and our housesitter told us the oven was not working. My wife called Tom, who has been great for us in the past. He suggested shutting off the breaker to the oven for an hour to see if that fixed the problem. If it did not, he said to call him back and he would come right over. It fixed the problem! Rather than charging us for a service call and coming out and doing it, he solved the problem over the phone and said he was happy he was able to do that, no worries that he did not get paid for anything to do it. Tom really knows how to fix an appliance. My freezer was making an odd noise, which I took a video of since I would not be able to reproduce the sound for Tom on his service call. He listened to the video twice and was able to figure out what was wrong with my sub-zero freezer. He even had the parts that he needed on the truck to resolve the issue and was able to complete the entire job in an hour. Both Tom and his Dad are appliance experts and can assess and fix your problem quickly and reliably. Horrible! Total scammers! Came by to ck. my refrigerator. Disappeared for 7 days. Called them he said part just came in. What part? They never said what was wrong, they never gave me a quote other than a verbal one. They were referred to me by another appliance repair Co. and said it would cost around 700 to 800 to fix. Toms started with a verbal of $1000 and that it might be more,..,, What? Once I asked him to explain the charges... he hung up! Then my husband called for a break down and he hung up on him too! I wish I could rate with no stars. Tom of Tom's Appliance and other guy came to my home to check a washing machine. They didn't fix the machine, yet they still charged me for the trip. They said it was the main board so I gave them a new board and guess what? the machine still didn't turn on. They claimed it was another part that was not working. That's how this works? GUESSING? They BROKE something else inside the machine. I spoke to Tom and he said that he was going to come and fix the piece. Later he called and said that someone else broke it. They never mention that something was broken when they were leaving. They never said it was broken when they opened the cover. They just left the piece hanging on the hoses. They didn't put the back cover correctly and they even took the screws. What a shitty person. One of the guys was pounding the circuit board because according to him sometimes the pieces in the board get stuck. Seriously? I filed a report with the Police and the BBB. They might not do anything about it but my complaint is going to be for everybody to see. I really hope people read reviews before hiring these useless people. Fast, polite and professional. Was having trouble with my dryer after going from 3 prong cord to 4 prong in my new house. Kept tripping the breaker. Tom and his son figured out the previous owner had installed the outlet improperly. Fixed the problem right away and taught me a few features about the dryer I didn't even know it had after owning it for 6 years. read more

EXPENSIVE WORK THAT'S NOT GUARANTEED My mother hired Tom and his son to fix her oven, which needed a reset of a tripped breaker in the back. The sensor tripped a second time after it was put into self-cleaning mode, and he charged $160 to reset it. He said this time he moved the sensor so that it wouldn't trip again, but I don't know why he didn't do that the first time . When I asked him why it was so expensive, he said it was a 2 man job to remove the oven. He was there for 20 minutes, which means that BOTH he and his son are charging $400/hr for EACH of them. I just found screws on the floor that he either didn't bother to put back in the over, or he didn't bother to clean up. She had also hired earlier to fix her in-wall Viking refrigerator because he was the only certified Viking repairman in town. He seems like a nice guy and my mom's old school, so they gave him other work. But, she told me that he had come 4 time to fix the fridge and wound up charging $130 - $140 EVERY TIME he came to work on it even though he hadn't fixed the problem the times before. It isn't right that he charges more each time he comes out to fix the same problem. He's just taking advantage of a nice old lady. read more
