We went on a Friday recently around 1pm. It is new, very clean, well organized, and casual. Very cool "new" spot off dyer in the NE! Tommy owns it, it's an express kinda place (fast), and it's Korean. They make a lot of bowls and you can customize how you want it, but if I'm being honest I'm there for the RAMEN! Absolutely love it, loved it living in Korea all 3 times, still love it here in EPTX. I got the bowl with noodles, pork, and added other items with the bibim sauce and it was all great! The ramen bar looks neat but I didn't try it. The mango juice was great as well. The service was fantastic, the staff was helpful with explaining everything from the beginning. I'm not sure if he was the manager but he came over to ask how everything was and brought us tops to our bowls and even informed us on how to warm up our food for it to taste best. Wow, some of these reviews though... would make you think that this was the best place this side of the Atlantic, lol. No, it's decent, nothing special. First of all, this is like a fast food Korean place...thus Tommy's "Express". Like a typical Asian "bowl" place, you pick your base, protein, and veggies, then sauce, if desired. So it's fast, if there isn't a line. The base noodles are Jab Chae noodles, which I love, and are hard to find anywhere but Korean restaurants, and not all "Asian bowl" or Korean places have it. They are really skimpy on the veggies, but you can ask for more... but they are still skimpy. The ramen bar (see below) has some different veggies, which I helped myself to for my Jab Chae bowl. There is a ramen "bar" for you to prepare your own ramen from dried noodles, if you prefer that. It seems like something you'd find in a 7-11 or Circle K, but hyped up 10x. There's plenty of instructions on how to heat it up, and there's also a "help yourself" bar with veggies. The food is decent, again, nothing special. The owner(s) was super nice and helpful. Super atmosphere. I drove from Las Cruces for this, on a Sunday (no other day would make sense when we have the best Korean Bowl place this side of the Atlantic!! And it is closed on Sundays!). If we were in town, in that particular area, for some other reason, it's a possibility, but otherwise, we're not going out of our way for it again. This is my first time at Tommy's Korean Express. Everything is amazing!! The owner and the chef are very friendly. All the staff are knowledgeable. You can build your own kimbop bowl or have a preset bowl made. They also have a build your own ramen bar. The food is delicious. I tried a build your own kimbop bowl with spicy pork and fried rice. It was well seasoned and spicy. I had a peach smoothie drink, which was sweet and refreshing and calmed down the spicy-ness. The ambiance is super minimalistic and modern. Everyone is super friendly. They also have some Korean drinks and snacks. If you are a fan of Korean food or just willing to to try something new. I high recommend checking out Tommy's Korean Express!! Save your money, and stomach! THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. For starters TikTok is not what it makes it seem at all! The instructions on the ramen area is unclear. Which is why people want to come here for the "experience" but no bowls in sight, employees look like they hate their jobs. When asked for help everyone there was useless. So excited to have something like Tommy's Korean Express in Northeast El Paso! This place is brand new and already one of my favorite spots in town. It's Korean fast casual done right--fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Think of it like a Korean-style Chipotle--but way better. You build your own bowl, starting with a base: white rice, fried rice, or japchae (sweet potato noodles). I went half fried rice, half japchae--absolutely delicious and highly recommend the combo. Next, pick your protein: tofu, steak, chicken, beef, or spicy pork. I chose tofu and steak (you can add a second protein for a small upgrade), and both were super juicy and perfectly seasoned. Then comes the toppings--and this is where Tommy's shines. No extra charge, and you can load up on all the Korean favorites: Radish kimchi Seasoned potatoes Shiitake mushrooms Carrots Spinach Cabbage Lettuce Egg Bean sprouts Everything tasted fresh and vibrant, and you can tell they prep everything in-house. Nothing felt pre-made or reheated, and the ingredients are rotated regularly to keep things fresh. You also get to choose your sauce--bibim, soy, citrus ponzu, and more. They also have kimbop, tteok-bokki, and a ramen/stir-fry station but I'll save that for when I come back again. Out freaking standing!! There's something for everyone to love for any group setting! The place is even fancy enough to decorate if you really wanted to use it as an event space! First and last time going to this establishment. The location was nice the restaurant was clean but other than that the experience was not enjoyable. There was an issue with giving me a sample of meat in a cup to try. However did not supply utensils. The employee that rung us up did not know how to and struggled a bit. However, that wasn't an issue. We finally get to the area to cook the ramen and instructions were unclear. I asked for assistance and first person did not how to use the machine so she asked someone else to assist. The second person did not know how to use the machine and asked "do you want me to cook in a pan instead?" That defeats the purpose of the whole experience no? At this point I was overwhelmed and asked for a refund. No one knew how to void out my order and had to google how to refund it. Long story short if you have never visited this establishment DON'T because no one is going to be able to assist you. Not even the one at the entrance whom I think was the manager.
