It's unfortunate as we never had issues with Tommy T's on past car repairs and all of the service techs have always been honest and trustworthy BUT do not trust Don as he is a liar. He will quote you and charge you double with no authorization. You are supposed to inform customer of cost if higher than originally quoted price. Don claimed he was given verbal authorization to do any work when car was dropped off in his care. That is a lie! No verbal or written authorization was given as we never received notice for any of the extra charges. We have no reason to post a bad review as I mentioned before we had no issues with Tommy T's with previous owner and all their service techs could always be trusted and were honest with us. Always fast, efficient and high quality oil changes and service. They go above and beyond to take care of their customers. They don't try to upsell you or sell you things you don't need (i.e. window wipers every time you go in, the most expensive oil for a car that doesn't need it, additional unnecessary additives, etc.). If they try to add something, do it, because you need it. They are hardworking and honest, and treat everyone with respect. I despise places where they treat women like ignorant creatures only to be ripped off, which happens at pretty much any major chain, like Super Lube. Oh, wait, due to being overpriced and treating people poorly for so long they had to change their name to "Take 5" in an attempt to escape the bad reputation they earned for overcharging, overselling and horrible customer service. You will not experience that at Tommy T's. They treat you like family. Respectfully, like they would their mother, father, brother or sister. Another bonus? I have never felt creeped out or uncomfortable like I have at other places. I'm an outgoing, independent woman who does not rattle or get intimidated easily, but several places here in town have questionable employees who make you uncomfortable, using perceived opportunities to hit on customers. Ugh. No one wants that! Tommy T's takes additional time to listen or thoroughly explain things without frustration. I've never had a negative experience in the 15 years I've lived in Tallahassee. This is the only place that we will take our cars to in Tallahassee. As a college student, I was always afraid of being taken advantage of and after being recommended to go to Tommy T's by multiple other students I ended up trusting this shop more than my one back home! They are reliable and helpful while explaining everything that has ever needed to get done. They are always so friendly and helpful on the phone when setting up a time to come in and the staff has always gone out of their way to make sure I get an affordable quote for the work that needs to be done. They were extremely fast and honest when I took my car in for an oil change. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes and they checked all my fluids and even added washer fluid without charging me. My car is making a weird noise now and I'm taking it to them later today because I only trust them. My cousins have been going there for decades. I've been lied to by every mechanic in town except for them. They were very nice and didn't try to upsell me on anything. Lovely people. I'll definitely keep going there as long as I live in Tallahassee. Especially as a young girl, mechanics love to take advantage of you. This is the one place in town where that hasn't happened. In the past Tommy Ts had excellent service. I came to Tommy Ts a month ago hoping to get the same friendly service. Well, I walked in the office, was totally ignored for 7 minintes while two workers were chatting. Never a hello or even acknowledgd I was there. Finally told them my issue and gor a new battery. A week later my car didnt start. Had to call tripple A agian to start it.Gave me another battery . Instead of not looking ino the the real problem why my bat would not start, I ended up calling Tripple A again! THis time I decided not to ever go back to Tommy Ts! read more

I always take my car here for oil changes and car questions. Even as a female driver, they never pull the "up sale" on me and suggest I replace all the filters and belts at every visit. If you're interested, they explain, but not in a patronizing way, everything from trivia about your car to proper suggested and required maintenance. They've even talked me out of costly repairs i thought may have been necessary-- what mechanic does that? They always earn my return business. read more

Largest group of nit-wit's I have ever met. I had a car for sale a little while back. A young girl from FSU drove the car, liked it, but wanted it checked out by Tommy T's on Thomasville Road. I pulled in the place a little early for our appointment, and when the girl and one of her friends pulled in , all of the trolls seemed to be more interested in putting the moves on the girls than anything else. When they finally got around to looking the car over, all they could talk about was the paint job. Now I thought that they were suppose to check the car out mechanically and the girl agreed. The morons then crawled under the car, nit-picked it a bit, and then tried to convince her that she needed to have the timing belt and water pump replaced. Knowing that I had just had all that done 3 months before, I asked them if they could inspect the belt and see if it really needed replacing. They said that there was no way they could do that. I took the keys, got in my car and left. I called my mechanic and asked him if a timing belt inspection was possible. He said that all they had needed to do was pull the timing belt cover back and they could have easily seen that it had a brand new Gates timing belt on it. Their whole addenda was to get work into their pitiful little hole-in-the-wall shop! read more
