03 Mar 2025 It was pretty dead at noon. Walking up, we thought it might not be open. It was open. Just us and one other customer. Well, it is a Monday. Didn't see a server, so sat at the bar. Carlos the bartender took our drink and food order. We both ordered the lunch boneless garlic Parmesan wings. The six wings came with fries and ranch dressing. Also a Diet Coke and iced tea. The total was $25 and some change. Not too bad. The chicken was pretty tasty the fries while OK, had that rough exterior texture a lot of places like to offer. They have several other flavors of sauce. One is peach habanero which sounds interesting and tasty. Carlos checked on us periodically. A server delivered our food. She asked to take a pic of the lunch menu. OK? The venue is quite large. In addition to the bar, there are many tables and chairs inside. Outside there is many more tables and metal stools. Also another bar that must be used when they get crowded. A small playground for kids, two pickleball courts, a cornhole area. Karaoke is on Thursdays. They have an upstairs area where that takes place. Live music on some weekends. This weekend is their grand opening. They've been 'soft opening' for three months according to Carlos. We may go back to check out the karaoke. read more

The potential of this bar is incredible. It has everything that you want or need for a bar. We love the games and pickleball. On top of that the large tv's are great. I would recommend this place for a fun evening with your peeps. read more

I stopped into Tommy John's after a walk on a long McAllister Park trail. Olivia, the waitress, did an excellent job in working with my ever changing over strategy. After several happy hour beers, I settled on the Steak Quesadilla dish. So good!!! I loved the pickleball athletes getting into their rhythm from my outdoor bench. read more

The service and quality has gone way up with the new name. I almost didn't come due to my past experience here. But I had a feeling with the revamp things would be different and had some time to kill. We came in for some snacks and drinks and ended up with the tailgate margaritas and the chips and guacamole. The chips were generous and the guacamole tasted fresh made. The guacamole was so good, I will definitely add this to a burger next time I'm around. I love the build your own burger option for the picky burger eaters. The margaritas were delicious and very reasonably priced. The happy hour deals were great and they had many options on tap. I'm not use to seeing angry orchard on tap. Rock on! There were atleast 12 tvs in the area we sat and all types of games were playing. My only recommendation would be to have one on a movie channel or taptv trivia for those not into sports. That keeps a whole variety of people sticking around and spending. The patio area looked nice and it appeared they were setting up for a live band. Very cool! The service was very friendly and we were checked on in the appropriate manner of time and had great convo with employees. I will definitely come back and try some of their entrees. A great spot for food and family fun! During my weekend visit I was surprised to find the place almost empty with just a few people around. They do have plenty of seating areas, there's a second floor balcony and it also has plenty of outdoor seating and even a kids' play area. They also have pickleball courts, though I did notice that some of the paddles were broken. The loaded fries and burger were absolutely delicious, and they have a wide selection of beers, along with an outdoor bar seating area. It's a fantastic place to grab a bite while the kids play in the playground. read more

"Dined" in to have a beer while I waited for take-out. The space is clean, and servers seemed friendly. It was a slow weekday, and pretty quiet. I've been to this location before, and I will say that I like what they've done with the place. The food is just okay. I was looking for a little junk-food and I think I got what I was looking for, but it was nothing to write home about. Great casual sports bar. 12 screens over the bar - you should be able to catch up any sport you what to check out. Standard bar food options. My husband went for a Nathan's hotdog on a sweet bun - the cole slaw was a bit sweet for his taste. I had a make-your-own burger- I added cheddar, mushrooms and guac. It was all served up on a potato bun. The fries were nicely crispy, just the way I like them. Wait staff was very helpful We were greeted instantly and checked on by at least friendly 2 waiters and a manager. We ate inside but they also have a large outdoor area. A basketball game and pinball machine inside for additional fun. Bonuses - live music several hours a day. We love the outdoor setting! Great place for families, get togethers or team events. We came on a Tuesday so they were not busy. We opted for outdoor seating in spite of it being a chilly night. We ordered wine, beer, fried pickles (spears versus chips), fries and the cowboy burger. I initially asked for Pinot Noir and they were out, I asked for Red Blend and they were also out so I settled for their Merlot. The burger was great! I was expecting pickle chips versus spears but I obviously misread the menu. Service by Valentine was friendly, quick and efficient. This place was initially Momaks, a Mexican Restaurant, Hops and Hounds, Pups and Pals and now, it's Tommy John's Tailgate. I sure hope they stick around for a long while! read more

The service is horrible. The bartender never offered her name, although we introduced ourselves to her. The menu is basically burgers and hotdogs. I ordered a hotdog, plain, with onion rings. The hotdog was cooked on a flat top and was fine. The onion rings were blonde, mushy, undercooked. Also ordered the queso and chips. They spice it up, but there should be green chile or something in there to make it different from gas station nachos. These were gas station nachos with added spice... So, mediocre food with poor service. Not a great combination for success. read more

Sorry this was a terrible experience. Before they bought it this place was organized now it's real rough OWNERS HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT 1. You are literally having servers walk 75 yards to carry food super slow and inefficient. Even for a drink refill it took forever we had to get our own and we were a large party 2. Tommy's tailgate says we are gonna have fun and watch the game and drink and spend money. But there are no TVs in view unless you are literally upfront 3. Have you eaten at your own establishment and the previous one? Recreate their model of serving and friendliness for kids and pets no play area kids were just slamming rock together for an hour. The service has been 50/50. There have been times when the waiter/ waitress is absolutely amazing and others when we wait 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us and barely see our server. How busy it is has not correlate with the experience I have received. It's been busy and I've had great service. I think it just depends on who's working that day. The food also is hit or miss but it definitely rates higher than the service. I do enjoy my time here, it's very family friendly. My kids always have a blast. 7/10 read more

Reviews for Tommy John's are all over the place which indicates inconsistency in the service and food. We ate there on a Wednesday and it wasn't busy. Took a while to get service and our drinks. When we got our food, two of the entrees were pretty good. The hamburger was awful! No cheese on the cheeseburger, no condiments on it and it shouldn't have come out of the kitchen as it was so bad. I let the waitress know and she offered to put cheese on it. That wouldn't have helped this mess. She took it back and by the time the other one came out, it was 15 min later and the rest of the group had already finished eating. Though I must say, the second burger was great. I discussed our experience with our server and the manager comped the meal. That wasn't my intention but a nice surprise. Probably will go back but not for a while. read more

Double-booked their reservations for the pickleball courts. Instead of apologizing given it was their fault for not properly managing their reservations--which we would have understood and would have happily given up the court--their manager chose to engage us like an aggressive neanderthal. We contacted them before we went there, booked the courts for the month, showed up for our time and were minding our own business playing, when all of a sudden this aggressive jerk of a manager comes over and starts verbally attacking us out of nowhere. The whole situation could have been easily avoided if he had simply treated us like human beings and owned up to their mistake. This is the second time they've double booked timeslots on us. Instead of aggressively engaging patrons maybe they could try using a better booking system? read more

This place/location really sucks. Over priced food and drinks. When we were there it was 37' outside and walk into this place and it's actually colder. So when food arrives is actually cold. Bartender and waitresses actually were wearing hoodies and beanies. It was completely dead inside. I was the only patron and it was almost 4pm. Bathroom was bad. The smell in there was horrendous. Good drink selection. The bathrooms are nasty though and need to be cleaned! You can tell they haven't been cleaned in both the men's and women's restroom. All of the toilets are dirty and the men's restroom smells like urine. read more

Tried out Tommy John's Tailgate today. Onion rings were cold and had to ask for for fresh ones. The drinks were not good. Husband tried The Natural. Sweet and sour tasted odd and forgot the splash of coke. Bloody Mary was not drinkable and not sure what was in it. Didn't send back because already complained. I don't like sending stuff back. Simply will not last if current practices persist. I am routing for this place big time but we were told 30 minutes for chips and salsa, before we ordered waitress asked if she can take our menus because the restaurant was out of menus. Waitresses didn't know what seasonal drinks were served or what they consisted of .. we were told different items were out after we ordered, for example we ordered fish and chips and after we received the food we're told that there was not tarter sauce. Hostess told us "complimentary" ice cream machine had been broken for weeks and my kids were looking forward to it. Drinks took very long to get to the point where we left and went somewhere else. This place will fall into the line of another failed attempt at 13838 Jones Maltsberger Rd. We will not be going back, sad Friday night performance by Tommy John's Tailgate. read more

James' Cajun shrimp pasta was fire, def coming back very soon when I can and would order again.

We went there tonight with a group of friends and everything was awful. First, they sat us at dirty, dusty tables. The server said she would be right back with rags and took over 10 minutes to come back. When she did come back we placed our drink and food orders. Many of our group ordered appetizers that either never came or came with the rest of the food. Our drinks took about 15 minutes to come out as well. Once the food did come it was barely eatable. Multiple people in the group didn't even eat their food it was so bad. When it was time to pay no one was told that gratuity was included (you pay on a handheld device and the server handed it to us with the tip screen already up). One of the guys in the group when he got done paying saw his final amount and asked questions. The server said she didn't know so he went inside and asked and we were told it was gratuity after everyone had paid and provided a tip. Overall just a horrible experience and we will never return. read more
