IMHO I love Tommy Bahama! So much so, that I ask for Tommy Bahama gift cards as gifts! Tommy Bahama clothing and accessories are very pricey. That's why I only buy when I have a coupon deal or gift cards to redeem. I had a "$50 off $100 purchase" coupon to redeem before the end of the year and chose to spend it while on a day trip to Carmel. The Carmel store currently had some construction going on outside their store, so it was difficult to find. I knew exactly what I was looking for and pulled out the page from a current catalog of the specific quilted Aruba jacket that I wanted and showed it to the sales lady. She thought she knew what I wanted but couldn't find it. She assured me that it could be ordered. I wanted to try it on first before ordering. Another sales associate, Joseph, went in search for me. He found the new Aruba jacket I wanted! I tried it on in the normal size I usually purchase (I have at least 5 of these Aruba jackets in size small.) but it was way too small. How could this be? Anyways, I tried on the medium and large sizes, but they didn't look right on me. So, I tried on the solid color Aruba in my usual size, and it fit perfectly. The slightly quilted version is sized differently. This will be a big surprise to other Aruba jacket lovers, especially if they order online... I was so grateful that Joseph went the extra mile for me to find what I wanted, and for his patience as I kept trying on different sizes and colors. I eventually decided on purchasing the Aruba in a new color rather than the quilted version which had to be ordered. We also found some oil diffusers and oil on sale! They didn't register on sale at the register, so Joseph overrode the price to accommodate us! Great customer service from Joseph! Thank you!!! read more

I usually only buy Tommy Bahama brand pants, shoes, shirts, and cologne. I love all of their stuff. It may cost a bit more, but the quality is far superior to other men's clothes, and they seem to last forever. The store in Carmel Ca. Is always a "must" stop into when I'm in town. I miss their old location and the old staff. Very cold and pretentious. I was even wearing a TB T-shirt when I visited on Tuesday. No greeting no hello while one lady steamed clothes and two other workers (seemed one was newer being trained) were chit chatting away. A few minutes into my browsing I was looking at a nice lightweight jacket. The lady proceeds to come over and say "oh that is a popular item we can't even get it anymore and we definitely don't have it in your size so don't get set on it" Like whattt??? No hello, no can I help you? Just by judging on my larger build (yes TB does carry size 3XL and I was wearing one just fine when I visited) and went back to steaming and chatting away. I walked around a few more minutes as other customers were asked "what's your name can I start a dressing room for you?" I was ignored and size shamed. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I have never been so taken aback or felt body shamed after being in the store for a few minutes. I get it Carmel is a more affluent area but I have never had an experience at any other store nor TB location. I will never patronize this location again. read more

Really upset!!!!!!! Long wait due to one person working the floor sept 13,2021. This is my second time coming to the store horrible.

i was just there this past week and found a nice looking and fitting pair of pants. No one helped me other than showing me the fitting room. As we were walking to the fit room a group of lady's standing there also wanting to use the fitting time rooms.. . this lady talks to them then walks them into a fitting room first then tells me u can use any fitting room i want. ok fine. ignore me. then i want to pay for the pants at the register. this lady says i want to give that other lady credit because she helped me... i was like fine... but she made no attempt to tell the other lady i was there waiting... she rung up another customer behind me.. finished the transaction and still didn't tell the other lady i was waiting... i guess because I'm Asian and the ladies were white... but i won't be going back to this store.. the ladies working there have a problem with me because they were old enough to know what customer service is.. so i am pretty sure they were doing this to me on purpose... i left without purchasing the pants ...The Worst Service Ever with a store that had only 3 groups of customers in the store total.. them ladies have a problem with Asians read more

My usual experience with Tommy Bahama is seeing their merchandise in other stores. My husband is a huge fan of their shirts (not the loud Hawaiian style which can be over the top), sweaters, shorts and trousers. Their women's clothing is also quite nice - high quality with a relaxed beach style. We were both excited to check out this store. At first impression the store appears somewhat small, but when you have an opportunity to start browsing, it's pretty amazing how much product they are able to display all without feeling cramped. The prices are high, but you can find items on sale. You get what you pay for when it comes to clothing and Tommy Bahama clothing lasts. The sales staff is attentive without being pushy. In fact they were quite helpful when I was searching for a last minute Christmas gift for my husband. I usually get a coupon in the mail just before the holidays so that takes a bit of the sting out of shopping full price. All in all, this is a great addition to Carmel Plaza and I will stop in again. read more

This location is pretty small compared to other Tommy Bahama stores that I've been to, so I am amazed that they're able to have so much merchandise in there without the space feeling cluttered. Someone has done a beautiful job organizing this shop. The two gentlemen working were very helpful, professional, kind, etc. They established a very friendly rapport with us without being unprofessional. Quality products cannot stand alone without quality customer service. Other shops should take cues from this one. Being a person obsessed with all things that smell good, I made a beeline first for ladies' fragrances then on to home fragrances. Their fragrances are delicious. If you like them, right now they have a 3 roller set that's absolutely worth the money for what you're getting. People always think rollers look small, but you cannot forget that when it comes to higher-quality fragrances, a little goes a very long way, Plus they're great to shove in your purse or makeup bag for a quick freshening up when you're on the go. This would be an excellent gift for the holidays and I'm sure they'll have plenty of holiday sales soon enough. The home fragrance options are great too. Of course, with my basset-hound-like nose, I sniff out this little basket resting on the floor in an inconspicuous spot. What is this? A basket of brand new home fragrances candles just released and dropped off literally hours ago by a district manager? Yay! I went for Sangria Sunset, Tropic Seas, Island Breeze, and Coastal Cruiser. Very high marks for the outstanding service from the two gentlement in the store - think Nordstrom service! I don't live on a Tommy Bahama budget, but I love their printed tees. only the second Tommy Bahama I've been inside over the years. Love the merchandise quality, don't always love the big, bold designs on their products. i went in looking for a specific shirt I saw on a gentleman who was my customer at a competitor of Tommy Bahama. The guys working were playful and professional as they recognized i work for a competitor. But my store has a very limited selection of TB shirts..... since Valentine's Day is fast approaching, I went to see if they could order the shirt for my bf. sadly, it is an older style that can no longer be ordered. But the guys were good enough to check in the back and in the system to see if it was still possible. I appreciated their checking when they probably knew full well it would not be findable! the store is very well-organized and looked very neat and tidy. i just wish i had seen someone wearing that shirt earlier so i woulda known to start searching earlier! foiled by father time again! doh!! read more

If I was just rating Tommy Bahama the product - I would give it 4 stars because of the price. BUT, shopping in the Carmel Tommy Bahama is such a treat because of the very helpful and friendly staff. I buy for my husband and sons in this Carmel store, and I can never remember which size I purchase for which person (Tommy clothes tend to run a bit large). These folks always look up my past purchases for me, and then help me find the suitable size and color match, etc. They always go the "extra mile" which keeps me coming back! read more
