Going to repost on Best Alterations as she's the same wonderful seamstress for both businesses. I picked up my dress from a bridal salon in Westminster a month ago and was on the brink of spiraling as the dress ordered was massive. I previously requested to buy the size down as the bust/waist measurements of the recommended size were way bigger and my dress wasn't fitted on the hips, but the Westminster Bridal salon persisted... alas the dress was too big and I was too flabbergasted to complain. All to say, I drove straight to Tomato Wedding / Best Alterations to get things fixed and a few weeks later, the dress is now already in an incredible state. The seamstress has so much integrity as she prefaced from the get that the project might be a big one (and $$$) if she needed to fully redo the bodice, but once the first fitting happened, she let me know she was able to avoid doing so and maintained the structure of the dress as closely as possible. She added in an inner corset and also recommended me to wear higher heels to make sure the dress stays proportionate and flattering - purely based on a plethora of experience. I already trusted the seamstress from Best Alterations as she did an amazing job with all my hemming for day to day and now know I can trust her with any alteration, big or small. Highly recommend! I had a very upsetting experience at Tomato Wedding. I traveled from Northern California and invited my family to be part of what should have been a special dress-shopping experience. When I called ahead, I was told they rent dresses and was offered an appointment, so I assumed they would have options for me to try. When I arrived, I was greeted at the door and was not even allowed to sit down. Within seconds, two staff members told me, "We don't have your size here." They had not asked my size beforehand, nor did they measure me, they simply looked at me and repeated that they had nothing for me to try on. When I questioned how they could be sure, they asked if I was a size 10. I told them I wasn't sure of my size. After visiting other bridal shops later, I learned I am a size 12. At that point, they told me their largest size is a 10. I asked why this wasn't communicated when I booked my appointment or listed on their website. I was told it would be "rude" to ask someone's size over the phone. In my opinion, it is far more disrespectful to have someone travel long distance, bring family, and then be turned away immediately at the door without even being welcomed inside. I felt humiliated, especially in front of my family. The interaction felt unprofessional and dismissive, and the customer service was extremely poor. Her dedication and integrity truly impressed me. Ellen is organized, communicative, and detail-oriented. She personally sent appointment reminders and made each fitting feel special and unrushed. What truly sets her apart is her exceptional talent in alterations. We made nearly 20 different changes--ranging from small tweaks to more involved adjustments--to make the dress absolutely perfect for me. Every single detail was executed flawlessly. She even made my custom veil and gave thoughtful feedback on all my accessories--just like a trusted bridesmaid would. I was so impressed with her work that I brought in my reception and after-party dresses too, and of course, she made them perfect. Ellen is kind and patient. She's genuinely professional about her work, and it shows in every detail. She also offers a lovely selection of rental veils and bridal accessories, which made planning that much easier. While I did not end up choosing a dress from here, I liked Ellen so much that I decided to do my alterations here even though Buena Park is like 45 mins away from me. So a little background I discovered is that Tomato Wedding was a business in Koreatown, but then Ellen's Sewing Cafe in Buena Park purchased the business. Ellen previously just did alterations. She really knows her stuff though. They have a few racks of wedding dresses to try on for rental (or purchase) and there is ample room to change behind the curtain. They allow 2 guests to come with you. (I think simply because they just have 2 chairs lol.) I did not feel rushed at all. In fact, they kept pulling more and more dresses for me to try that they thought I would like/look good based on previous feedback. I definitely felt like I was the only customer that mattered compared to some of the busier K-Town spots. They even let you use a platform heel for height, veils if u want to try certain looks (available for rental/free with dress rental), jewelry, hair clips, etc. In the end I found another dress via my sister-in-law and thought Ellen was so nice had a good eye for look and alteration that I decided to bring my dress to her for alterations. It was super affordable too! We had an initial measuring day, a check in after those alterations were done, then I was able to try it on a last time when I picked up. I definitely recommend you check out Tomato! Also FYI it is in a mini mall with other shops, so they have a parking lot. I also recommend getting Atoyobu down the street for lunch! read more

I was looking to rent but was eventually sold on purchasing a wedding dress along with the pre-covid package of free alterations, rented veil, and hair piece. I ended up using my own hair piece, but it was very useful to have a veil to rent. Pricing: The whole package was not significantly more than renting a dress. Plus, I didn't have to worry about renting and potentially causing wear/tear to the dress upon return. The price was very reasonable considering how expensive alterations can add up. - Comparison to other stores: - Bella Wedding has a nice selection of dresses but the cons for me were that the owner was pushy and only allowed to take 1 single photo of the dress. Felt rushed and parking lot is small. - Wedding Time - the rental gowns were not for me and look more outdated. Workers were nice though. Wedding Dress Choice & Alterations: the main regrets. After having some time to reflect post-wedding, I can't say I'm completely satisfied with how I picked the dress and with the final alterations. Looking back, perhaps it was not the best sized dress for me. They wanted to sell me dress off the rack, which I believe led to more need for alterations. It'd probably would've been better to size up but Vivian assured me before purchasing it that she could add alterations to help it fit better. This would include a corset tie up (since the zipper couldn't zip fully) and sew additional lace into the back for further coverage. My mom accompanied me during my 3 fittings and told Vivian the straps seemed to flare outwards. Vivian assured us it would not be the case when finished so I decided to trust her. She then also seemed to blame the strap flare on me gaining weight. While I'm not the typical petite Asian, my weight was unchanged so it wasn't the greatest comment to hear - even if it is a common Asian aunty thing to say. Now looking at the wedding photos, it seems my mom was right in the end. The straps along my back were not altered enough and flared outwards so it enlarged the shape of my back, unfortunately. For the shop owners, I hope they can take into account the customer's concerns about alterations more seriously, instead of brushing it off or making jokes. For future brides, my advice sounds straightforward and common sense but I feel it can be forgotten after trying on multiple dresses day after day. - Don't feel pressured to lock in the deal same-day. It's okay to take some time to think about it. Even if you lose the deal or get frustrated with decision paralysis, it might be worth it to take some time and have the peace of mind knowing you made the best decision. - Make sure the wedding dress size is actually something that can be altered well. - If there is a concern, it's better to speak up and even ask for an additional fitting prior to the big day. All in all, my experience was decent! It was affordable and I still loved the rest of my dress (minus the back straps). read more

I loved Tomato Wedding and I'm so glad my sister recommended me. The only thing I wish was that the front of my dress was a little shorter so it didn't look like it was dragging in my photos. If it wasn't for that, I would give it 5 stars. Honestly, probably wouldn't bug anyone else, but it started to bother me. There is a free small parking garage under Tomato Wedding. Depending on when you go, parking is random. I was unlucky the first time I went and it was full, but the 3 other times I went, there was a handful of spots left. The customer service was great. I bought my dress in September 2021. I looked at so many different stores and the girls here was one of the best with customer service. They were okay with me coming back since I like to mull things over. They also gave me options to alter my dress for a different look. They told me if I wanted my dress to be more backless, they could do that, but I'm glad I chose to keep the original look, buttons and everything. I was super happy that when I bought the dress, Vivian said she will also do the alterations. All I knew was the dress was wayyy too long and needed to be hemmed. Since I have never had alterations before, I trusted her judgment fully. She is the expert after all. She told me to bring my wedding shoes and she would do the rest. So I did and she bustled and hemmed the dress, but I wish I asked her to make it shorter now that I think back on it. I wanted my dress to look like it was floating from the front... But on the plus side, the alterations were very quick. I was also sad since, due to COVID, I couldn't borrow any accessories just like my sister did. I got two dresses from Tomato for my wedding in July 2019. One was a mermaid style for the ceremony, and the other was an a-line for the reception and I totally loved both! The mermaid dress was originally a trumpet style that Vivian transformed by making it hug from my waist to my knees, and she made it fit like a glove! It was quite large on me the first time that I tried it, but she magically made it fit me just right to my body and it hugged all the right places. The a-line dress that I wore for my reception originally had sleeves that hung off the shoulders, but I wanted them to have a different look so I came back multiple times for fittings so that it could look the way that I wanted. I'm extremely satisfied that I got my dresses here.. For reference, my husband and I had also checked Bella Wedding (I did not like the owner ) and Beautiful Wedding (was okay..), but this place was THE BEST in terms of dress style, price point, and service. Because of Covid, they stopped offering dress rental package. BUT the total price for my dress (with alterations) + free veil + hair piece + grooms tux (with alterations) ended up being around same price/cheaper than the two other places I looked at. TLDR: I paid rental price package but got to keep everything!! This place is super reasonable! Vivian was very friendly and welcoming, it made the dress shopping experience very enjoyable! I did not get my wedding dress from Tomato Wedding, but was in desperate need of quick alterations. (Literally a 2 day turnaround). I had gotten my dress altered by another seamstress, and unfortunately was left with a dress that was too large and did not fit correctly in any of the right places and required A LOT more work. Given my time restriction, I was feeling pretty hopeless about getting it altered and was resigned to just wearing a dress that didn't fit. I took my dress to Tomato at the suggestion of my sister. And I am SO glad I listened to her because Vivian is an ALTERATION MAGICIAN. While she admitted that none of the fixes were going to be easy, she managed to fix everything in ONE DAY. She is a true perfectionist and has a great eye for wedding dresses. She had me come for the initial consultation, and secondary fitting, and a final fitting to make sure that I was satisfied. One of the choices that I was most happy with is going with Vivian at Tomato Wedding for my wedding dress alterations. I had purchased my wedding dress elsewhere and it was strapless, and I wanted to add straps to it to feel more covered up and feel more comfortable in the dress. I had looked into a couple of seamstresses in Ktown on Yelp, but of them, Vivian stood out as being extremely skilled and had many brides who were happy with her work. After going for a first visit, the quote was higher than I originally expected. But for that price, she also included the hemming of 2 other dresses I had - a bridesmaid dress I had for another wedding, and also my reception dress. She also included a veil and jewelry rental, so I felt the price was worth it. In the end, the money was well worth it because she ended up doing a lot more work than just adding straps, and did 3 fittings to make sure that it all fit perfectly to my body. She created straps for the dress from cutting out beaded embroidery off of a wedding veil she had - and it matched my dress PERFECTLY. She added a sheer mesh to the top to stitch the straps to and create the illusion look that I liked. To the sheer mesh she added, she added a row of buttons to the back, which also was a look I really liked. The back of my wedding dress also had sheer corset boning and she added some thin fabric to make it less see-through. She altered the dress for length as I'm quite short and added a button to bustle the train of my dress. For my wedding, I used one of their fingertip veils and a beautiful delicate hairpiece with metal leaves and small pearls. After a short chat with Vivian, her confidence and excitement told me she was the person to go with! Although I didn't get to say 'yes to the dress' here, I would definitely recommend checking out tomato wedding for future brides! I was referred to this place by a friend who got her wedding dress here and I can see why she was so excited for me to check this place out. Parking Underground garage parking available (unfortunately only a few slots available for tomato wedding). There is a security guard but if you tell him you're there for tomato, he'll allow you to double park. Dress shopping For a small shop, there's a good amount of dresses available to look at! They also have mens suits/tux's available to rent. Prices here were VERY reasonable for both the bride and suit/tux (which includes accessories and alterations). Unfortunately they don't do bridesmaid dresses. The ladies here were also very sweet. They didn't make me feel pressured to get my dress here (Other Korean dress shops do feel a bit more pushy), but not at Tomato. I was really close to getting my dress here since the prices were way within budget and the service was amazing. I came here to rent my dress for my wedding ceremony & reception. Note- you will need to make an appointment before coming in. There are only two ladies here that take care of fittings/alterations. Tomato carries a large variety of dresses that fit your body and your style. They don't limit you on how many dresses you can try, so it was nice to try on several designs. After trying on several dresses, I did not find "that dress". But Vivian selected a dress that she felt would be what I would like. And to my surprise... I loved it! They take care of alterations and dry cleaning, so it was really convenient for me. I wish I lived closer though, because you do need to come in at least 2 times prior to your wedding for final fittings and pick up. They recently moved to a new location. There is a small parking structure available, and I have never had trouble getting a parking spot. read more

I initially came to get my husband's tuxedo rental here, but fell in love with a wedding dress on display as well. Due to COVID concerns, the owner gave us very generous and affordable pricing to purchase the suit and dress instead of rental. Okay, so originally, I wanted this Vera Wang dress and my fiance said NO. =( LOL. I guess spending $10k on a dress I would only wear once does seem a little crazy (although if you gifted me $10k dress, I would take it in a split second). Many of my friends who got married before me told me to rent a dress since they regretted buying theirs. They have no use for it again and it's just sitting in a box in storage. So onto Koreatown I went! I found myself at Tomato Wedding at the recommendation of my coordinator. I showed Vivian the dress I wanted and she pulled out a dress that looked almost exactly like it. I tried it on and fell in love: of course they had to make a few adjustments. For example, I wanted the ruffles to start a little higher on the dress (to hide my belly! LOL). She was super nice about it and very accommodating. I went to 3 dress fittings, the last one being a week before my wedding. My weight tends to stay the same no matter how much I work out, so not many alterations needed to be made. Vivian provides everything from the dress, sash, veil, jewelry, under garments, etc., all inclusive in the cost. During my last fitting, I told her I wanted a sash...she was very patient with me while I went through every sash she had. She was also very nice when I changed the sash I wanted when I picked up the dress. She was easy to work with, nice, and professional. What more can you ask for? I received compliments, comments and questions throughout the entire night about my dress...and not just the expected, "your dress is gorgeous", but people actually asked about the details of my dress...like where I got it, where Tomato is located, etc. In the end, I was super happy with my dress and my fiance didn't have to kill me for going over budget. New location! Free parking in the underground structure and so quick and easy to hop in the elevator and practically straight into the store! Both ladies are friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. I've been multiple times with different to be wed friends and relatives and they almost always end up saying "yes to their dress" here. You feel at ease to try on the multitude of varieties of dresses here. To make it even more of a "one stop shop" they offer suit and tux rental for the grooms. A nice little waiting area. Pretty dressing rooms. Tons of accessories and veils and jewelry. They have a restroom in store. Fair pricing. Beautiful products. Alterations on site. What's not to love?!
