You had to pay $20 at the door and that did not include the stein. The Berliner Pub in Renton hosted it and they provided the beer and food. I go to the Berliner for happy hour a lot so I knew the food and beer were going to be great. If you want a great HH, go there! This was the 2nd time they hosted Oktoberfest and it was not too crowded when I went Friday night. They had enough seating, the lines were not to long for food or drink, and they had outside seating too. Outside was covered with tents and came in handy when it started to rain. They also had a mechanical bull that you could ride for one ticket ($3). They had a M.C that was great. She was an extremely tall lady who had great presence in the room. She sang a lot and got the crowd involved. It was fund to watch her walk around and work the room. She also had some competitions on stage that people got to volunteer for and get free beer and shirts. I will def be coming back next year if there is another living social deal. Some Oktoberfest's are too crowded and you have to wait 20 mins for a drink....I like this one b.c is it still small enough to not be too crowded but large enough to meet new people and have a great time.

I hated my first couple hours Saturday afternoon and even smugly updated my twatter ( yes twatter) "If you're not a hipster or over 17 you're going to have mixed feelings. #iwantmymoneyback" Low and behold, get some booze in me, tell me I'm beautiful and suddenly I have my dress over my head and a smile from ear to ear... Turnaround story here, the Capitol Hill Block Party won me over. Full disclosure, I didn't have to pay for my ticket (I think theyre about 50 bucks a pop) which probably increased it's likeability. What an incredible experience and well worth the trip from Alaska!…read more We have friends and family that have been traveling to the Flower & Garden Festival for several years and we finally had the opportunity to attend in Feb 2019! We already had some insider information, so it helped us a bit. We stayed a mere two blocks away, bought a ticket package in advance and so glad we did. The week days were definitely better for less crowds and there is soooo much to take in. Booths galore, food, bees, bugs, gardening, decor, classes and the completions; it's was absolutely wonderful and we are looking forward to going back in 2020! Out of all the spectators and vendors, we only found a single person in a foul mood and we quickly moved on from him! It was such a great atmosphere and dare I say difficult to take it all in. It was awesome. It was a great break from the snow, excellent prep for spring and had us craving landscaping and gardening from the moment we arrived. We personally chose to make the first day a 'look not buy' day. We took flyers and business cards back to our room in the evening; taking out time to look things up online and discuss what we loved and couldn't live without. If you're traveling from out of town, I highly recommend traveling with an empty suitcase. We put our smaller carry-on luggage inside our larger cases and came back with boxes, checked baggage and a carry-on each!

The NWFGS is an annual pilgrimage for us. Rain or shine we are there. Actually I don't remember…read moreanything but rain since the show is in the winter. We make a day of it and head to the "Big City" for some flower and garden fun. The exhibits are plentiful as well as the vendors. We always spend a small fortune buying what have you's for the upcoming gardening season. If you have a step counter device you will definitely get your steps in perusing all the booths and garden exhibits. I don't find pricing is any cheaper at the show but the convenience of having everything you can possibly imagine for gardening under one roof makes up for it. We always walk through then go back and start buying as we start the exit process. It's about 3.5 hours in total. We always incorporate a trip to the Public Market because no trip to the 206 is complete without it. It's just a short walk there and back from whatever parking garage you find around Pike and 6th. We always like going there even though it's jammed with people. I get the seafood cocktails from random seafood stands. Good stuff. We always buy some kind of fresh bread or produce to bring home to "the sticks" as well. I have to say this was the first time in recent memory I wasn't forced to walk through a cloud of someone's pot smoke walking down the street. That was nice. All in all our trip to the 206 was pretty good. Hoo-Yahh Seattle!

The festival was at the South Lake Union Discovery Center and park, which was a great spot for it, especially on a sunny day. It was awesome that they allowed people to bring their dogs, and though it isn't as large as other festivals, it had a massive amount of ciders that I discovered and bookmarked. The selection goes beyond Washington and the Pacific Northwest, so it was especially cool to check out ciders from all over the country. And each vendor had about four different ciders for you to try. A lot of the vendors will allow you to have a sample of their ciders before they fill your 4oz. souvenir glass with it. You can get tickets at Whole Foods, which saves on the processing fees online. The early bird ticket price is $30, which sells out quickly. You get eight tasting tokens and a 4oz. souvenir glass with your ticket purchase, and can purchase more tickets at the event if you run out. When my friend and I got there we noticed there were a ton of people getting tickets at the door - so good to know if you ever make the last-minute decision to attend this. There was a line of food trucks outside of the park, as well as the Capitol Cider vendor inside the festival, offering food items. There were porta potties, booths that offered water and live music. It was such a fun event that the three hours we were there went by so quickly, that we didn't even have a chance to check out all the vendors there. I will definitely make this my annual September shindig.

There are already people signing up for next years event. BunnyCon is the Bunny Bar Hop that you've seen in previous years hosted by David LeClair. I have attended many of his meet up events in the past and he shows that he has years of event experience by the amount of people he can manage and yield as well as communicate and coordinate with the local bars in the area. Because there was such a great turnout of over 1,500 people for this years event, many bars that were on the listed hop areas were overwhelmed with bunnies. I felt it was a successful event and because it is Seattle; many bars were available to take the overflow of bunnies from neighboring restaurants that were on the list. Entertainment was fun and tastefully presented as well as the control of crowd. Even though Sakura-con was going on, parking was still to be had and there were no messy situations (that I know of). Everyone seemed to be respectful and wanting to just have clean fun. I attended from 3pm to midnight and followed the rules to stay fed, hydrated, and well full of energetic fun. Because this is a large festival, the experience is what you make of it. There are all possible options and venues available to choose from as well the whole geographic area of downtown Seattle at your fingertips. it could be as exciting or as boring as you wanted since it was up to you to go further from or closer to the action of BunnyCon as your legs could take you (in case you needed a break from the crowd). Although this is a bacon and beer festival, I don't think I was truly prepared for the volume of…read morebacon and beer at this event. There's a big variety of beer and food vendors that incorporate bacon in their dishes. There were even vendors who would pile straight bacon up for you. Eating beforehand was a mistake because there was so much food to try! While this was a beer event, Hochstadter's Slow & Low whiskey was there giving out generous (strong) cocktail samples, which was probably my favorite. Lines: I heard from someone who had attended last year that there's tons of lines. While this was true, the lines moved relatively quickly. Walking up to Safeco Field, the line was massive and intimidating! While it was very long with people excited to pig out and drink on, it only took about 15 minutes to get through. Once you're in, there's lines at almost every table (though the longest line we were in only took about 5 minutes to get through). There's certainly an advantage to upgrading your ticket to get in the doors before everyone and bypass the line at the gate. Overall, I had a good experience and enjoyed the event! I do recommend the VIP or power hour passes more to bypass the lines and get access to the field in the future if you have the extra spending money.

If you enjoy standing in line in the sun all day long with hardly any shade or seating, and literally not a single water station to be found at an event dedicated to sampling alcohol and salty foods, then this is the event for you. Also, some of the food vendors didn't have enough food prepared - there were 2 that had wait times of about 45 mins while they made more food and huge bottleneck situations were created that ultimately caused longer wait times at every booth after them. You only have but so long to make your way through the course, so this definitely creates a barrier to receiving the full value of your ticket, and the tickets aren't cheap. Full disclosure: I had bought the tickets pre-pandemic and we were supposed to go for my birthday in April 2020. Obviously, it got canceled, but they wouldn't issue a refund because they said they were going to be rescheduling. A year and a half later here we are, and I had a feeling it was going to suck now due to changes they had to make in both venue and various logistics, but since they wouldn't give me my money back we felt kind of obligated to go. Sometimes it sucks to be right. This was an expensive mistake we won't be repeating.

It is free admissions to this small art gallery. They have a beautiful whale skeleton with an…read moreautomated tail. There was a nice volunteer there that gave us a short story about the whale. She also taught us more about whales with fun facts and let us hold a real whale bone too. It was much lighter than anticipated and I believe our first time holding a real whale bone. They had a nice gallery of local artists' works for sale. There were beautifully crafted hand baskets, pottery, and repurposed aluminum can artworks on sale when we were there.

Your failure to attend means you have donated the fee for the ticket to their "charity". Don't buy your tickets in advance if you feel you might have change of plans. They were incredibly rude and discourteous when I called to ask for a refund or exchange, and they showed no empathy for the "donation" i made to their "charity". Its claim of being a world class venue is laughable and their movies are just a blu-ray being shown on a large screen.
