***This review is from work that I had done in June of 2018, I just forgot to post it. Read the whole thing if you are even thinking about considering this company!!!
Once they have your money, this company could care less about you and the work they have done. Of course no one should pay unless they are 100% satisfied, but in my case, it was impossible to see the results immediately after the job was done. I had bushes ripped out, grass seed and a grass blanket laid down on an entire side of my house, new landscaping in the front, new plants, etc.
Grass is not growing in various spots where they laid the grass seed and blanket down because the crew left pea gravel everywhere. I watered that 2, sometimes 3 times a day. I should have just flushed my money that I spent on my water bill down the toilet because watering did nothing. They also did not level this area, so now when I water or when it rains, water settles near my house. I also had a mess of a disaster of bushes in the backyard. Originally (February 2018), I wanted them to remove it all, then once everything started to bloom in the Spring, I decided I wanted to try and salvage some plants if I could. When the crew got here, including Mr. Tomasello himself, they started hacking away at everything and left me with a splattered looking lilac bush that also had something else growing inside it. I completely understood why they had to cut it down so much, but the bush was growing sideways. By the time I saw the end result, the people that came with all the digging equipment were gone. Great.
Speaking of Mr. Tomasello...when he was at my house, he asked me why I had everything on the side of my house ripped up. I explained I had other plans for what I wanted to do (fence being put in as you will read below). His response was, "you must not have a green thumb." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! Keep opinions like that to yourself. So unprofessional!!!
I emailed about 3 weeks after the job was done because I was concerned with the grass seed blanket and the tree I had planted in the front. The tree was crooked because they didn't tie it down. Gina came out. She told me everything was fine. I did not agree, but how am I supposed to argue with her?
Here is the funny part about this. I am having other work done from another company in my yard. When they were here working, one of them commented on what a crap job that was done on the side of my house. They were referring to the grass seed and blanket. You know you're not crazy for thinking something was so very wrong in the first place when a stranger offers an unsolicited opinion to you out of no where. So, that is the quality and value of work that Tomasello's is proud of.
I then called to inquire about the lilac bush in the back that was growing sideways. Shannon the secretary was one of the rudest, and most demeaning people I have ever talked to on the phone. I told her I wanted it removed and she kept insisting that it would grow normally and that I just had to wait until next season to see for myself. How would you know Shannon?? You have never seen it! Then she kept saying, "do you know what next season means??? That means TWELVE MONTHS FROM NOW the bush will be okay. So, you will have to wait until summer is over, fall is over, winter is over, then spring is over." Seriously Shannon? I don't care how long she has worked there or how close she is with these people, no one should ever be treated this way by anyone and there should be consequences for her poor choice of words, aggression, and lack of customer service.
Side note: When I got a fence put in there were a couple things wrong after the job was done and after I paid. That company and all associates went above and beyond to come and fix the problem and made sure I was 100% happy in the end. Just to be clear, this was months after they had all of my money in their pockets. In comparison, this just goes to show you the people that work for Tomasellos don't have that kind of work ethic.
I had planned on using Tomasellos next season for Spring cleaning (see Shannon, I know what seasons are), but I am so happy to pay someone else to maintain my yard.
Oh, Mr. Tomasello did attempt to call me after I spoke with the unbelievably intolerable Shannon, but I refused to pick up after they sent me a quote for removing the lilac bush they didn't dig out and to even out about 10 feet of my yard. The quote to do that work was $500! Remember all that work I said I had done? The amount I paid to get ALL of that done was a little, and I mean a little, over double that amount. They must of thought I lost all my brain cells thinking I would even consider paying that. So, I knew he wouldn't be able, or would just refuse to fix what was wrong, so I chose not to waste anymore of my time with this company.
***2020 update: Tree in the front is still crooked and I still have so many patches on the side of my house where grass still hasn't grown. Thanks a lot, Gina! read more
