1-STAR REVIEW -- WARNING TO OTHER CUSTOMERS…read more I had an extremely disturbing experience at Tom Thumb involving a refund request. I purchased three items and requested a refund. Instead of simply processing it, the cashier, Ms. Carmen, repeatedly resisted, delayed the refund, and ultimately called the police. I was not threatening, physically aggressive, cursing, or touching anyone. I was expressing my opinion that I believed I was being treated unfairly and questioned whether the treatment was racist. I was also dressed in clothing reflecting some might mistaken for being Muslim faith, including a head covering and long dress, which caused me additional concern about possible racial and religious discrimination. Other customers witnessed the incident. One customer became so frustrated with the delay that he left. Another customer can be heard on my recording stating that she did not see me yelling. I also witnessed two other customers leave after paying approximately $1 each for their drinks, while my legitimate refund request resulted in police involvement. The responding officer ultimately required the refund to be processed and had the supervisor contacted. I received my refund. I am a disabled woman, and this unnecessary escalation caused me significant emotional distress. I have video evidence and witnesses documenting what occurred. I am asking Tom Thumb to investigate this incident, review its surveillance footage, speak with the employees, supervisor and responding officer, and address what happened. Customers deserve dignity, equal treatment, and to feel safe when spending their money. He still charged me "for the cup". Even though he told me to go get a new one, which means I would have thrown the cup away, anyway. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SEVICE BY STEVEN (clerk) AND CHRISTIAN (I think that's the mangers name). Whoever was working at 6:00pm on September 15th. The clerk wouldn't tell me the mangers name and I couldn't see his shirt because he spoke from across the food at the other register and never came over. EDIT: after I picked my van up, I decided to go back and get a new coffee because the sweetness was too much. The manager said "go ahead". So I asked him if he'd changed the French vanilla to the half and half. He said no. Mind you, 20+ mins had passed since I told him it was the wrong cream. I went though the effort and dowloaded the GoodRx coupon to have it convenient for the pharmacy rep., and sent it in the drawer at the window. She said it did not ring up at what GoodRx had. And I had just printed this GoodRX coupon 5 minutes before I got to the pharmacy. I also had it on my email and text and showed her. No use, talk to a wall and get more satisfaction. The rep/pharmacist would not accept my Goodrx. She said the meds was 40 dollars more this time. This was for the same meds, same quantity, nothing changed. The same meds I got filled last month and the month before for approximately the past 132 months straight. All of a sudden no longer recognizes the GoodRX discount, with the actual current coupon or the Goodrx card according to the rep/pharmacist. But on Goodrx it shows plain as day the lower amount no matter how many times you pull it up, even a 5 year old can do it. It Makes zero sense. Walgreens at Beal and Racetrack. I H had to cancel my script and go down the road to Publix where it was even 48.00 dollars less than Walgreen's was trying to get. Thanks for the favor Walgreens.
