So glad Valerie, the assistant store manager, was working tn! I got a late night hankering for a sandwich and was so sad to see their cooler empty. Valerie saw us walking around all depressed and asked if there was anything she could help us with. We said we were looking for sandwiches and she said they're kept in the back because the cooler has been on the fritz since last year and she hasn't been able to get the powers that be to fix it. TLDR: Ask the person behind the counter if there are any sandwiches in the back if you find the shelves empty. And thank Valerie for her commitment to food safety! read more

Coke here all the time when out and about in the area and need something simple. Gets pretty busy during tourist season, but it's clean and well stocked. Always be careful entering and exiting here as the customers can kind of be rude and cut you off or take a hard turn to try and get in. The staff is great and the area is right in the beginning of the tourist area of Fort Walton. Pretty good place. read more

If you go during peak and Matthew is working just leave. He was. Total jerk to me and bunch of customers in front of me. I even helped a guy take his stuff to his vehicle because Matthew talked him so bad and he spent 160 bucks on groceries. He was mad because people was there spending money. Slamming stuff in bags and slamming cash and his drawer. I will speak to the manger before I leave this week. He is awful and I have shopped there for years on this island. read more

Great staff. Closer than Publix if your just looking for some light snacks and supplies. I did notice a whole section of empty shelves but was able to get what we wanted without the hassle of a big supermarket. read more

I have had some great experiences here. Usually, the staff is friendly and helpful. My last visit was very different. I am 42, and my wife is 39; my five-year-old son needed a band-aid for a cut. I grab a 12-pack of beer for the evening. My wife, who never touched the alcohol, went to strap my son in the car. The assistant manager, Valerie, started harassing me about selling me some beer. As she talked, she was bragging about all the people she had decided to sell alcohol. When it was my turn to cash out, she took over the register and forced me to bring my wife in to show her ID. We had to unbuckle our injured son. My wife had to come in and show her ID just for a 12-pack of beer. read more

5 stars even though the Ben & Jerry's ice cream pints were almost $7 each! I did get 2 Aquafina bottled waters for $2. Why 5 stars?!??? CONVENIENCE!!!!! Oh and it was a nice clean store with a friendly staff. No gas sold here. read more

Tom Thumb - Never seen that anywhere before! - Grocery Near Me - Fort Walton Beach, Florida

Flat out, "Kroger Family" Tom Thumb is (are) great convenience stores that are very well stocked wth essential, everyday, last-minute needs, including milk, bread, eggs, first aid ointments, etc. Moreover they always have hot coffee on hand (in several blends or varieties). You get a good deal on coffee is you use your Kroger or Tom Thumb rewards card. Buy 9, get the 10th free. (Yes, I know some other CSs sometimes have better ratios like BOGO. But those are usually periodic or seasonal at best.) Most TTs have roller bars (brats and dogs, etc) plus cold mammies line the refrigerator shelves. Drinks are available from the fountain or refrigerator. Beer and wine also are available in Florida (perhaps other states as well - I'm basing this review on Fort Walton Beach, specifically 656 Santa Rosa Blvd...open 6 am - 11 pm and 1209 Miracle Strip at the foot of Brooks Bridge...open 24 hours). Both are close to where we stay on vacation....and both have friendly staff. read more

Will not be coming back, ever. Worst service I've experienced in a long time. Workers were rude not only to me, but other customers. Would not allow the family in front of me to buy alcohol because they had their 14 year old son with them. Would not allow me to buy even ice without being 21 because they "suspected it was for alcohol." ICE. Nothing more. On top of the inconvenience of refusing to sell me or the other family our goods, they made a scene out of it. It was unprofessional and uncalled for, and I will not be back. I strongly advise against this store, and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Thumb Toms stores are fantastic when it comes to beverage refills. The average refill charge for fountain drinks is .95 cents (sodas) up to 2 liters. I normally fill my mug in the morning and it lasts me all day as I work in a closed facility and can not leave during day. It works out great for me! Well I recently had a displeasing confrontation with the clerk at the Tom Thumb Store on Okaloosa Island, in Fort Walton Beach over a price gouging incident where she insisted on charging me $1.57 for my refill. I informed her the price was incorrect and that I had purchased the same drink from other Tom Thumbs stores from the Fort Walton beach area, Destin, Niceville, Crestview and all points between for $0.95 cent. She preceded to tell me it was the owner policy and was it irreversible! It sounds like this store is doing a little bit of price gouging on the tourist and beach goers on the Okaloosa Island. Shame-Shame on you! Treat our visitor with some respect! All said and done I paid the price requested, as it is still a great deal, but I will buy my drinks elsewhere from now on.
