We appreciated that he pointed out a couple of things needing our attention but not having to do with the home's stability in case of earthquake. He then gave equal attention to the crawlspace, taking photos to show us what was down there. It was great to hear that our builder in 1981 had properly attached the upper construction to the foundation so that it didn't need any further reinforcement. We wanted to pay him for the two hours spent with us, but he refused saying it was part of the company's offer of a free inspection. We called him a few days later to come and look at it. He came and said he didn't like it, but wouldn't tell us why. He didn't pay for our services. I have made several calls to him, and left several messages telling him that we could fix whatever it was that he was unhappy about. Today, I finally got a hold of him on my personal phone. When I told him who I was he hung up on me. We just want the money he owes us. I don't imagine the quality of his work is that great, judging by his level of integrity, or lack thereof.
