Walt Bateman arrived on time to check our home for seismic security. After explaining what TerraFirma could do, he gave the exterior foundation a close inspection. We appreciated that he pointed out a couple of things needing our attention but not having to do with the home's stability in case of earthquake. He then gave equal attention to the crawlspace, taking photos to show us what was down there. It was great to hear that our builder in 1981 had properly attached the upper construction to the foundation so that it didn't need any further reinforcement. We wanted to pay him for the two hours spent with us, but he refused saying it was part of the company's offer of a free inspection. Pretty disappointed. We contacted them about needing an engineer to come look at a crack in the foundation to confirm if it came from a tree root and would need it in writing. They told us they would be happy to and would also give us a bid. Cool. We would have been happy to pay and they said no need. It was a complete WASTE of time. They came out, spent a little over two hours in the crawl space. We got an email saying they can't tell if a tree root cracked it or not but the foundation is lifted and here is $20k bid. Even though he told my significant other he couldn't even begin to give a bid as pulling the tree root out would cause more damage so there was no way to know. Totally came off as a used car sales man pitch. This is why we wanted to pay. Won't use their business for the repair and would never refer a friend or family member to this company. Update to owners response: -You did not send an engineer as promised when making the appointment. -a bid was not provided for the area we requested. The bid was on the rest of the foundation. -you failed to deliver what was promised as confirmed by your manager when he pulled the call from our initial conversation. read more

Moving to Oregon after living in the desert Southwest brought issues I never realized were something that was normal up here. We had a house inspected and he found there was some water in the crawl space. This freaked me out a bit but there was no other damage and they reassured me this was normal for this area where the water table was close to the surface. This was a condition to purchase the home so the previous owner called in Terra Firma to have the issue handled. Patrick came out and did a thorough inspection of his own. He said it would be good to have a system to route the water to a location and pump it out. The previous owner had the work done and we came to see what was being done. James, Josh and one other worker (that I missed his name) came out the day the work was being done. They came on time and were professional. They dug a drainage area around the outside of the crawl space, filled it with a trailer full of stone and installed two high-powered pumps to move the water out of the crawl space. We had the drain cover pop off after they were finished but they came back out and fixed it right away. The only slight negative is the vent they had the pipes come out from under the crawl space was left without coverage so any creature could get down there. We fixed it but it seems to me that they could have made the pipes go through the wire venting so it's protected-but maybe not. Terra Firma is definitely the company to chose when having this work completed. They keep you up on the problem, create a timeline to fix it and have professional staff on hand to get the job done right. They also send photos when the job is done. I was a first-time home buy about 2 and a half years ago. we have a older home which already adds difficulty to the situation. we had a slight slope in our home and called Terra Firma. They called back and scheduled a free assessment. Once arrived they took measurements and did some crawlspace evaluation. Due to the house not having up to code, crawlspace access was limited. No fault to Terra Firma. I was told i would get an assessment and a quote for Crawlspace cleanup and dig out. 2 and a half years later, I never received the information. I followed up and called for another evaluation to see if measurements have worsened or if i could get the information originally assessed and or quotes for work. It took me 2x and two weeks of asking the receptionist to have a specialist reach out. When the specialist finally reached out and asked what they would like to do, I explained i needed information on the original assessment or re assessment and potentially a quote for dig out and crawlspace clean up so we can have access for further assessment. I had already been referred to Terra Firma by 3 other companies being bounced around that they couldn't do the work. TerraFirma response to the work was that they are moving away from dig out and would need that accessible for further assessment. Proceeded to refer me to another agency. Terraferma was able to take an extremely large driveway 34 x 50' that had fallen due to a neighbor's excavation lowering his driveway causing our driveway to begin to fall what would have caused us about $24,000 to replace they were able to do it at a fraction of that. The lift job was okay, the cleanup was not. The cut out sprinkler and now they have blocked the water. They redid a small deck outside backdoor. Very poor with open spaces between boards. All the boulders they broke up when digging they left in our garden. All of this we have to deal with. Should not have paid the bill. read more

If you are a home owner, find a smaller local company that will take the time to give an estimate and do basic residential work. These guys ignore small jobs so they can take on larger ones that they aren't even qualified for. They advertise free estimates but don't come out unless it's a big job. Waste of time. read more

Yikes! our house had water in the crawlspace. TerraFirma walked us through a process over the phone (we are absentee owners) and provided us with options for necessary pre-work ) first use someone else to dewater the crawlspace.) the manager seemed quite patient and helpful over the phone. A price of $6300 was quoted. We were very surprised to learn that this price was for about 7 hours of labor total, plus parts, and didn't include providing power to the sump pump. We then had to separately find and pay an electrician ($260) to hard wire the sump pump. A list of electricians was provided. When my husband requested an itemized bill that might justify the seemingly very high charge, they balked. while we are happy that drain tile and a sump pump were installed, we are less than happy that the pump was not installed with a (promised) extension cord (they actually called the neighbor to try and beg one from her), and that the worker tried to sell us additional product to fix the water problem...why wasn't it installed along with the sump pump at the time of installation if it was needed? good work - so far. but a high price to pay. professional people, but unsatisfactory resolution to cost questions. read more

We had issues in the past with our crawl space. First was remnants of water that leaked into our crawl space leaving behind water and soil on the vapor barrier. TerraFirma is good at what they do and if it doesn't work as planned the first time, they are even better to work with the second try. That has been my experience. I had sunken drive way slabs that TF raised back to their original position. But they raised them on wet fill and they sank a little again. After letting the fill dry out over the summer, TF returned and raised them again. The have stayed put this time around. There was no argument about returning and re-doing the failed first attempt. While I initially thought their price to do the work expensive, their willingness to get the job done right is worth the expense. read more

Scammers. I guess they figured they got a senior citizen chump. I have a single pier supporting an over hang roof. Waited a 6 weeks for the guy to come and review the issue. He comes back verifying the pier had sunk 3.5 inches. They were willing to jack up this pier for a measly $6000.00 A local contractor said he would support the roof repour a new pier for $800. Mostly this was labor, it would take almost a whole day. read more

The presentation was informative, but took over an hour with a high pressure sales feeling. My precious old house was in dire need of foundation support. TerraFirma was my choice and I am very happy with the quality of their work. They arrived on time, in good spirts and got right to work. When they left the foundation was secured, they put everything back to where it was and left the basement clean of their concrete work. I paid the bill and they drove off. Then I noticed they also did something else. They went to the extra effort to notice and care. The drain pipe had come apart from the downspout and I wasn't strong enough to put it back. I was going to have to dig the pip up to be able to maneuver it back. But those wonderful men took care of that for me. We were doing a kitchen remodel and when the electrician was installing some wiring under the house, he found a lake in our crawl space. I called several different companies to get quotes and Terra Firma was very responsive. Walt came out to our house and checked underneath our house and even walked all around the outside of our house giving us pointers on how to minimize water drainage into our crawl space. They weren't the cheapest quote, but they also weren't the most expensive. What impressed me most was that Walt was way more detailed on how they would do the work and left me confident that their approach to the water problem was not only going to fix the standing water, but to prevent it from reoccurring. The three young men who came to do the work had great attitudes. They were soaked to the bone with water and mud, but they dug a trench inside the crawl space that circled the perimeter of our foundation and placed perforated pipe in the trench and covered with gravel (one 5-gallon bucket at a time). The crew did a great job protecting our floors and furniture as they had to slop in and out of our house all day long with buckets of gravel and pipes. The pipe all connected to the sump pump which was conveniently placed near the crawl space entrance for easy access and maintenance. The sump pump comes with a 10-year warranty and TerraFirma will inspect it once a year for ten years. So I would highly recommend TerraFirma to anyone who is having water problems under their home. We have an old 1926 home with a daylight basement in Seattle that needed an upgrade in appearance, so in researching we decided to use the ThermalDry flooring tiles as provided and installed by Terra-Firma. The tiles went in beautifully, and look great! Everyone at Terra Firma were really nice and professional. Since possible water vapor coming up through the old slab could be a problem for most other types of flooring, we decided to use the ThermalDry tiles since they have an air gap beneath the tile to allow vapor to escape.
