Libraries and lawyers…read more The very first West Woodstock library was started was back in 1806. As usual the books moved around to different places over the years and decades but eventually found a home in small building that was originally used as a law office. Not a very large building but the law office served its purpose well. The books ended up moving into their permanent home in the present library but a wise person decided that the cool little law building should move along with the books. So now the cool little library has another cool little building attached to it. Not a whole lot of room inside the library, kind of reminds me of a big hallway, but it has to be one of the coolest little libraries anywhere. The library and law building serves the community well and all kinds of events and programs take place here. No, it doesn't have a whole lot of books inside but it does have a very cool librarian, some great history and a whole lot of uniqueness.

She always has wonderful themes and activities for the kids and they LOVE it. Storytime is well attended by other kids and parents and it and the library itself are such a wonderful resource for the community. It's the kind of place you dream of taking you kids too. Great books, wonderful environment and dedicated and talented staff - all for free!!! We love our wonderful little library!

The new library had a grand opening on Monday September 14. I visited that library that day…read more It's nice, beautiful and spacious with three stories. A lot more space than the old library. It's located down the street at the former Webster Bank building. There's amenities at the new library which include the patio on the rooftop, drive-up pick-up window for books, a massive collection of board games for people to borrow with their own library cards, and atrium. I love this library. I miss the old library at the Mary Cheney building up the street but I think it looks beautiful in and out and I appreciate how there is enough room for everything and some more good stuff under one roof. The patio area outside is a welcome addition to the new library. People can read and relax outside with a chair to sit on during a beautiful day. There's a lot of chairs in the library plus elevators and bathrooms in a handicapped accessible library. You should stop by and check it out if you're around the area. What a wonderful institution for the Manchester community!

This is a review for the board game section of the library sporting so many games I've lost count…read more The borad game section has a lot of different types of games with varying age, group size and time frame. Donated from different walks of life the library does well to ensure eveything is there for your fun time ahead. You can borrow the games up to 3 weeks and they even added in renewals which is a nice feature. The only thing is that the games have to be returned while the library is open and sadly here is the only place that carry an extensive selection but hope that others hop on. Do you part and support the local library and try a free new game before purchasing or having a great time. With so many games for so many different type of people and groups drop by and see what they have.

The Aldrich library was built back in 1893 and is a beautiful Victorian house. Certainly not the largest library or the most spacious, It makes up for some inconveniences with oodles of charm. Lot of cool old furniture and old stuff to look at, the library still is a place to find a book or do some research. These small towns love history and have tons of local information and genealogy. The librarians were wonderful and gladly helped up on our search while still managing to deal with other patrons and hosting a kids party. The beautiful house could use a bit of TLC but it is still a lovely building. Cozy, warm, friendly and inviting. Just the place to spend a cold December afternoon looking for dead people.

A very versatile…read morelibrary The Bracken Memorial Library actually is two libraries in one. It serves as the high school library for the Woodstock Academy but also functions as one of the four public libraries for the town of Woodstock. It's a modern and very pleasant library with a cool balcony and lots of room to spread out. A rather unusual floor plan makes finding stuff easy and there are little nooks and corners that allows you to find a place to study or relax. Some cool old pictures of rather stoic looking fellows grace the walls. The librarian there was exceptional friendly and seemed to enjoy telling us about the history of the town and academy. The old, original field stone library is just around the corner and can still be observed. This is a library that will continue to serve the academy and people of the town for many decades to come.

All the…read morelibrary staff are very professional and usually there will be someone on staff knowledgeable about your concerns. The environment is calm and peaceful, with sealed glass group activity rooms for which to carry on without distraction to patrons. The restrooms are male - female separated by 30 feet, well ventilated, paper supplied and clean. The computing stations are powered by up to date Dell Inspiron small computing networked hardware. Wifi is sluggish though rated at gigabit speed, with average password security; however, the hardline backbone network is fast with very little downtime. Printer services are expensive and require mild technical expertise and paper stock is not premium either. Parking is adequate with an allowable overflow into the adjacent strip mall. I enjoy this place.

The location of the library is great too- right in East Longmeadow center. There's a Starbucks right in the plaza Their children's room and programs are WONDERFUL. Miss Jennie and the other librarians are so helpful and creative! They've got tons of holiday programs, the summer reading program, and always are involved in the community. I highly recommend this library!

The Librarian was very friendly and greeted us when we walked in. You can't miss the book tower in front of the librarian desk; my toddler and I were in awe looking at it. The children's section had a big fake tree that a child can go in. There were computers, Legos, train table, dollhouse, and other toys. There was a tween reading area. Although, this was not the biggest library, it was indeed lovely. I noticed a trail out back and had to check it out. The trail is called Doreen's Nature Trail and it was peaceful and neat. It is in memory of the former Library Director that tragically lost her life. Overall, this was definitely one of my top 10 favorite libraries I've been to. I wish my local library had a trail in the back!

This is in honor of East Granby originally being named Turkey Hills. The inside of this library is very well kept, with a grandfather clock that immediately caught my eye. There are some beautiful plants and a nice amount of sunlight coming through. They have a self serve coffee and tea station. The books are nicely organized and there's a substantial amount under every author. They also have an area for kids and teens. As well as quiet areas where you can work on your computer. The kids area is a lot of fun, with a large "tree", the kids can go inside of to play. The books are also plentiful in this area. They also had a selection of books for sale. Here I found a book that I was very interested in a number of years ago. It probably would have been $1 if I wanted to purchase it. I sat down and read about 20 pages, and decided it's a bit too sad to fully involve my self in it right now, so I put it back. This library is quite a nice one in the small town of East Granby. Be sure, you're going to the library not the town hall, as they're right next to one another.

A good book is the…read more best of friends The Brooklyn Town Library is a strange place, but then most of the libraries around here are pretty strange. That's probably because most of the buildings that the libraries now occupy were originally built for something else. The building that the Brooklyn Library is now in was built as a bank way back in 1821 and it still looks kind of banky. Huge walls, small rooms and not really much open space. The building received an addition a few years after it was built but still looks a lot bigger on the outside than it appears once inside. The building was bought and donated to the Library Association in 1913 and has served as the town library ever since. The library does have a unique charm to it due to the banking ancestry but it does make getting around the library difficult. Small hallways, very crowded areas and strangely shaped and very cluttered rooms makes navigating around a bit of a challenge. Of course this is pretty cool if you are just looking around but makes doing any real work a bit of a bother. It seems this library has a lot more stuff than room to put the stuff. Everyone I met here was extremely nice, very friendly, talkative and accommodating in the typical small town way and the library offers some very cool programs and events. The library itself has a decent collection of books, magazines and the usual library items but finding a comfy spot to sit and read might be hard. Definitely not your ordinary type of library, this place has be serving the town for decades and will probably continue to do so for a long time. It still has that massive banky and secure feel to it. It's a cool place to look around, get information, find a book, or do some local research. It's not the place to spread out and occupy space, you might end up in a swarthy corner or tenebrous hallway with a ghost sitting next to you.
