The staff are caring, courteous and helpful. The customer service is great and the people served are good people. It's a wonderful place to spend time when you're in Hartford and need some down time. It was dedicated to Mrs. Welles, her first husband, and their family in 1952. Expansion continued throughout the years as the town grew. It looks like a large house with a giant tree out in the front. There is also a patio area. My family and I really enjoyed our time in this library. It's modern and spacious. We loved the children's area; there were Legos, mini playhouse, train set, toy kitchen, and computers. The librarian was very helpful and friendly. Similar to other libraries, they have many events, classes, and resources. It's a great asset to Glastonbury!

That building hadn't been occupied as a library for the last 5+ years. The library had a grand reopening to the public on Monday May 8. This library primarily serves patrons in neighborhoods where there's access to books at this library. As of now, there's no patron access to upstairs at this time but as more volumes will eventually be added to the collection, there will be more books upstairs and I think there will be children's room up in that level in the future. For now, there's a limited selection of materials from every subject, movies and children's books.

You can also sit in a Supreme Court hearing and take the tour of the state library, which contains state and federal legal publications dating way back to the late 19th century. I love this library because they have a lot of books that I like to read as well as cool events…read morelike art exhibits and book sales. The biggest pro is that they have an ongoing bookstore inside the library that the Friends Of The Library own and they're open on Tuesdays and Saturday mornings. There's also a free book section in the lobby as well. There's some cool monthly book displays as well as self-checkout station, scanner, chairs to sit, computers, clipping seed display and many more. There's also a really nice Children's room. The librarians are really nice people and they're helpful. The library services are exceptional.

I've frequented this library quite often since moving to CT. Mainly because they have a children's…read moresection at the lower level. We took the elevator to this level; there is a tween/teen, toddler, and baby section. The baby room is locked from the outside but you can reach over to unlock the door; this is for babies and crawlers. They had some baby toys and books in there. The toddler section has a mini kitchen, fake groceries, baby dolls, doll house, Legos, and toy cars which kept my toddler busy. We put away the toys we played with before we left just to be courteous. We had to print out some paper and it's 10 cents a page. Keep in mind when putting the quantity in the computer, it doesn't specify dollars or pages; it's actually quantity of dollars not pages. This location is nice because it's walking distance to all the stores and restaurants. Overall, a clean and organized library!

We were looking for a quiet cool place to read this afternoon after being in the sun for several…read morehours at the Wethersfield PorchFest on Main St. First we stopped by the Wethersfield Cove which was lovely by the water, but there was no shade. So we checked out their public library. What a beautiful place! The staff are welcoming and kind. The 3 floors of books are conveniently and hospitably set up, with lots of tables/chairs. Brightly lit, with several spacious study rooms along the sides. Basement is children's books, first floor nonfiction, and second floor fiction for the most part.

I always push my luck and stay until the last 3 mins... The man (who I presume is the manager) is a big pacer. Raffle tickets are sold for the houses and or scenes created as well as other items donated by local stores and businesses. The museum uses this as one of several fund raising events throughout the year. At the close of the event, raffle winners can pick up their items in plenty of time to feature them at home as part of their Christimas seasonal decorations. 2024 is the 14th year of this tradition; it is well worth a perusal as the quality of the displays are exceptional. Stop by and make this an annual Christmas event for you and your family.

I believe this is the only library in all of New England to hold a festival of gingerbread houses. It's one of the largest Gingerbread House Festivals in New England. In addition, they have an impressive permanent bird / natural animal collection as well! I love this historic library for reasons I think make it a special place to visit. You don't have to be from South Windsor to step foot inside to browse valuable treasures. That's one unique library for the community.
