Turner…read more After her death, the land their home was located on, was donated to the town so a library could be built on that site. It was dedicated to Mrs. Welles, her first husband, and their family in 1952. Expansion continued throughout the years as the town grew. It looks like a large house with a giant tree out in the front. There is also a patio area. My family and I really enjoyed our time in this library. It's modern and spacious. We loved the children's area; there were Legos, mini playhouse, train set, toy kitchen, and computers. The librarian was very helpful and friendly. Similar to other libraries, they have many events, classes, and resources. It's a great asset to Glastonbury!

The new library had a grand opening on Monday September 14. I visited that library that day…read more It's nice, beautiful and spacious with three stories. A lot more space than the old library. It's located down the street at the former Webster Bank building. There's amenities at the new library which include the patio on the rooftop, drive-up pick-up window for books, a massive collection of board games for people to borrow with their own library cards, and atrium. I love this library. I miss the old library at the Mary Cheney building up the street but I think it looks beautiful in and out and I appreciate how there is enough room for everything and some more good stuff under one roof. The patio area outside is a welcome addition to the new library. People can read and relax outside with a chair to sit on during a beautiful day. There's a lot of chairs in the library plus elevators and bathrooms in a handicapped accessible library. You should stop by and check it out if you're around the area. What a wonderful institution for the Manchester community!

This is a review for the board game section of the library sporting so many games I've lost count…read more The borad game section has a lot of different types of games with varying age, group size and time frame. Donated from different walks of life the library does well to ensure eveything is there for your fun time ahead. You can borrow the games up to 3 weeks and they even added in renewals which is a nice feature. The only thing is that the games have to be returned while the library is open and sadly here is the only place that carry an extensive selection but hope that others hop on. Do you part and support the local library and try a free new game before purchasing or having a great time. With so many games for so many different type of people and groups drop by and see what they have.

This is the review of the Rockville Public Library:…read more In the downtown section of good ol' Rockville, just across the street from the Rockville General Hospital is the place where the world of reading exists. Along Union St. is a place called The George Maxwell Memorial Library (known professionally as the Rockville Public Library). Housed in over 100,000+ books, periodicals, movies, & other resources, this is the place you might want to look forward into (if you haven't been there, I'm pretty sure you'll like it there). This is a reader's favorite place to read & relax! I have been coming here for many years. This institution is one of the town's most recognized landmarks in existence. Opened in 1904, it had been an independent library up until just last year. It finally became a town department (in prior years, it was operated by the endowment given in dedication to the memorial of the late George Maxwell) in July of 2018 so the town of Vernon now takes full control of this 115+ year old landmark. Now, once you walk inside the library by using the front entrance, you'll notice that they have a lot of historical, well-maintained elements from the time the doors were first opened to the public. Here, you'll see a lonely chair in the reading room (that hasn't been repurposed or recycled) that was there since 1904, along with a light fixture on the top of the ceiling. In the Adult's Department, they have a lot of selection of books, ranging from bestsellers to biographies to books on Holocaust in the dedicated section about its historical event. They don't just carry books, they also bring to you cupcake pans on loan. Then, in the Teen section, they have their room with a lot of selection of these books. Yes, they have a teen librarian who runs it! Next, you walk downstairs, and there you see a Children's room. A room that has a lot to offer for young children & tweens. There's a lot of children's books for all ages! Every time I visit this library (I go there every couple of weeks, considering it's my hometown library!), there is something new I want to get carried on in my hands. A book, a movie, or even a magazine may excite me a lot as I always use my library card to check it out. Annually, they bring in a month full of festive trees in December, a student art exhibit during early spring, etc... You might want to consider making your stop at the library the next time you head out! Just to either get a library card (and have a book checked out!) or attend a library event. Trust me, it's sincerely an awesome library, at its best. The best place in my hometown is here to help you make new discoveries, right HERE!

You can also sit in a Supreme Court hearing and take the tour of the state library, which contains state and federal legal publications dating way back to the late 19th century. The state library is open to the public and has wifi and outlets, so you can definitely use the space to bring your laptop/tablet and do some work. Great place for school groups to take a trip to, or even for families looking for something educational to do.

Currently on the interior walls are community quilts, and they lead to the older library built in 1902 (I'm pretty sure I remember that date correctly). I've frequented this library quite often since moving to CT. Mainly because they have a children's…read moresection at the lower level. We took the elevator to this level; there is a tween/teen, toddler, and baby section. The baby room is locked from the outside but you can reach over to unlock the door; this is for babies and crawlers. They had some baby toys and books in there. The toddler section has a mini kitchen, fake groceries, baby dolls, doll house, Legos, and toy cars which kept my toddler busy. We put away the toys we played with before we left just to be courteous. We had to print out some paper and it's 10 cents a page. Keep in mind when putting the quantity in the computer, it doesn't specify dollars or pages; it's actually quantity of dollars not pages. This location is nice because it's walking distance to all the stores and restaurants. Overall, a clean and organized library!
