I haven't been to this library in a long time, since I was in college and avoided paying the extravagant prices the school bookstore charged for the classic literature books. The large windows and the construction of the library make it obvious, it has been here for a long time. The library first opened in 1853. I first went to the children's department. This area of the library was filled with kids playing with wooden blocks and legos, as well as a plethora of books categorized by interest. I selected around five brand new books for my class. They also have computers and movies in the kid's department. The adult section was much quieter and I couldn't hear any of the noise coming through from the adjacent children's area. I took the third floor on the elevator to find the area with the books that interested me. This was a super quiet space with shelves and shelves of organized books. I found two. They also have a selection of magazines, puzzles, CDs and DVDs available to borrow. I was very pleased with my experience at this library today.

And their children's department is one of the best I have visited. Sometimes I like to take my laptop there, sit by the big windows, take in the natural sunlight and get some work done. It's a great place.

The membership fee is $10. The place has useful resource for those people who work in the human service arena. Teachers, health professionals, parents, and consumers who know someone who might have mental health issues should utilize the resources available here. The literature you find here are the mini books many of us might have been given when we were in grade school. I've recently read a few of them and the content is amazing. It's great for parents who want to educate themselves prior to sitting down and talking to their children about drugs, bullying, anxiety or suicide. Whatever the issue there seem to be resources available you can take with you and read in the comfort of your own home. They have books and audiovisuals that you can borrow for 21 days. Great for school projects or a confused parent seeking information. They also offer tons of information on seminars for health professionals. Seriously Yelpers if you have children who are being bullied or wet the bed there will be material you can find to help your child get through it all!! I think this place is great and wish more people knew it existed. I know this is the age of computers but some of the printer material here can't be found on the internet. I like having the resources here available for patients because it makes life easy and it is a nice review. Reading material is available in both English and Spanish for most topics.

Wasn't for us. Which is why you take visits, right!? However, admissions rep who gave the info session was as good or better than others we've seen in the state university system. Note: bookstore inventory for gear is boarderline embarrassing for a D1 school. Clearly want to push you on line. We were not buyers today - in general - but wanted to see. If you're a fan or want gear for your student or athlete - look on line only.

The bursars office and administration are some of the rudest people I have ever met in my life (and I work in an ER) if that says anything. They are the least helpful people. All they want is your money and that's it. 2.The teachers are not kind whatsoever. They don't help the students at all. They don't respond to their emails. My math teacher (she was the only russian math teacher there) literally bullied me the entire semester I was there. During finals, in the middle of the class she word for word said out loud "i don't know why you're here when you're going to fail it anyways." to me DURING MY FINAL. 3. When trying to withdrawal from a class, I had to email my professor asking her to sign the form. She responded to my email "Who are you?" when I had already went to about 6-7 of her classes. When I responded, she never responded back to me which resulted in me getting charged for the class. 4. The president of academic affairs literally got arrested for kidnapping and assaulting the students on campus. Look it up. 5. The school in its entirety, is an absolute dump. It's extremely depressing. (Oh and for the students that are reading this that are thinking about coming here, I'm just going to let you know now that there are literally no parties, NB police shuts them down before they even start) 6. I really hate to say this but CCSU has a very bad reputation of sexual assaults occurring on campus. A lot of my friends went here as well and every single one has gotten sexually assaulted here (some even more than once.) The school has done nothing about it. (You can look this up as well) So parents, I would reconsider letting your daughter go here. 7. OH AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST! When you are done attending CCSU, they tell you you need to pay your tuition in 6 months otherwise it goes into collections. I'm sorry, but I did not have $10,000 laying around nor was I going to be able to come up with 10g's in 6 months. (What a Joke) They also did not even try to work with me or help me they gave me that one option and that was it. AND if you don't pay in full, they will not release your transcript to you. (if you were transferring schools/going back to school, etc) All in all, this school is absolutely terrible. I would not go back here or recommend this school to anyone. It's not just me who didn't like it either, everyone Ive talked to hated it and had an awful experience. I basically summed up what had happened to me while i was at CCSU and sent it to the president of the school and all she responded with was "would you like to give me a call" literally that was it (and the email I sent was probably 3 paragraphs long) Terrible staff, terrible campus, terrible FOOD, terrible extra curricular programs. Everything about this school is awful. HOWEVER, I did like my advisor a lot, she was very caring and kind and really tried to help me. Other than that, they should shut this school down with how many complaints and sexual assault cases that occurred here.

I guess the very busy Berlin Turnpike of today used to be an Indian path…read more Welcome to Berlin, CT!! It's the geographic center of the state, and its historic heritage includes the manufacture of tin pots and pans and pistols. For centuries it has been a popular stopping place for weary travelers. This is a two-sided marker from the CT Historical Commission, with the familiar white lettering on a blue background. The marker dates to 1982 and is in pretty good shape. It's located on a grassy hilly green with benches known as Deming Park on the corner of Kensington Road and Main Street. The full inscription reads: This land, granted to settlers in 1661 and 1668 by the General Court of Connecticut, was also purchased from the local Mattabesett Indian tribe. Founders of the community include Sergeant Richard Beckley, who came north on the trail from New Haven before 1660 and built a home in the northeast section; Jonathan Gilbert, owner of a tract of land along the Hartford-New Haven path; and Captain Richard Seymour, who led a group of families from Farmington in 1686 to begin the settlement at Christian Lane. The area was named the Great Swamp Society in 1705, when it was granted a distinct ecclesiastical unit. Portions of Farmington, Wethersfield, and Middletown were included in the reorganization of 1722, when the name became Kensington. The Worthington Society was later separated from Kensington, but in 1785 all parts were incorporated as the Town of Berlin, including Worthington, Kensington, East Berlin and New Britain. Known as the "Town at the Crossroads" Berlin is the geographic center of Connecticut. (Reverse) Here in the birthplace of the Yankee Pedlar, the Pattison brothers started the tin industry in 1740, when they began manufacturing and selling tin pots and pans. Simeon North, official pistol maker for the United States Government, developed a system of standard interchangeable parts here in his shop c. 1800. Other citizens who brought fame to Berlin include: Emma Hart Willard, educator; Robert Brandegee, artist-poet; Elisha Cheney, clock maker; James Gates Percival, poet-geologist; and General Selah Hart, regimental and brigade commander in the American Revolutionary War. The period from 1850 to 1900 saw the New Britain section grow from a farming village to a thriving industrial center after its separation from Berlin in 1850. Some factories still operated in Berlin, however, and the brick industry flourished well into the 20th century because of the excellent quality of the local clay. The Berlin area has long been a major stop on the main routes of travel, from Indian paths, to superhighways. The first time I was nearing graduation they found an excuse to deny my financial aid so I became unenrolled. When I became eligible to re-enroll their catalog had changed and there were more courses for me to take. A couple years later I'm graduating, and they tell me I got a "D" in a class I needed a "C" in. After doing everything I possibly could (which was nothing because it's a set-up) to get the grade changed, the provost refused to help me out. I spoke with the president of the school who offered to waive the course fee if I agreed to retake the course. I agreed, but informed him that I needed a break first. I was really exhausted from all they had put me through. Plus I needed some time to focus on my family and get my head right after a few back-to-back tragedies we had experienced. I was feeling like crashing out. Eventually, about 18 months later, I retake the course and pass it, but the catalog had changed-- and once again, I've gotta take a bunch more courses. Only now I'm at 129 college credits (3.0 GPA) and I won't qualify for financial assistance towards this degree, ever again. I have offered professional certificates, real-life work projects, letters from employers and businesses partners, but nothing has been sufficient. I'm a single mother with two daughters, what do these evil people expect me to do now? I don't want their "next catalog year" degree, I want the one I earned and paid for. This is gatekeeping. It's sick to think they get away with this. Reading these reviews is infuriating. I wish I had done my research.

The course load for these is astronomically obscene. Not sure how the professors expect students to work full time while taking these courses and being able to pass. Trying to get a hold of any other department besides the advisor was like pulling teeth. They do not work with students who are trying to get clarification or help in dropping a class. It seems like this institution only cares about their money and not the academic aspect of the student life. Highly disgusted that I wasted money and still can't get any answers in regards to the program(s). Waste of time and money.
