Privately owned and a non-profit, Rockville Public Library has been around for over 100 years! In late Spring of 2014, the 110-year-old library held a grand reopening to celebrate the renovations it has undergone. Books (available on tape and CD), VHS, DVDs, magazines, and public WiFi: what else could you ask for from a library? RPL is working on providing downloadable books to the public, as well as an improved and updated website. Also in the works is more programming for after-school activities and job-seekers. The way the old and new aspects of the Rockville Public Library have been merged together, it's nearly impossible to tell that there are now, technically, two separate buildings. Clean and very well-maintained, the library is able to honor the historic aspects of the building and the community while incorporating technological advances. It's really no surprise that many locals consider this to be a focal point of the community and why I appreciate coming here.

The new library had a grand opening on Monday September 14. I visited that library that day…read more It's nice, beautiful and spacious with three stories. A lot more space than the old library. It's located down the street at the former Webster Bank building. There's amenities at the new library which include the patio on the rooftop, drive-up pick-up window for books, a massive collection of board games for people to borrow with their own library cards, and atrium. I love this library. I miss the old library at the Mary Cheney building up the street but I think it looks beautiful in and out and I appreciate how there is enough room for everything and some more good stuff under one roof. The patio area outside is a welcome addition to the new library. People can read and relax outside with a chair to sit on during a beautiful day. There's a lot of chairs in the library plus elevators and bathrooms in a handicapped accessible library. You should stop by and check it out if you're around the area. What a wonderful institution for the Manchester community!

This is a review for the board game section of the library sporting so many games I've lost count…read more The borad game section has a lot of different types of games with varying age, group size and time frame. Donated from different walks of life the library does well to ensure eveything is there for your fun time ahead. You can borrow the games up to 3 weeks and they even added in renewals which is a nice feature. The only thing is that the games have to be returned while the library is open and sadly here is the only place that carry an extensive selection but hope that others hop on. Do you part and support the local library and try a free new game before purchasing or having a great time. With so many games for so many different type of people and groups drop by and see what they have.
