Once you walk in from the parking lot, take an immediate right up the stairs (I don't know if there is an elevator). This floor was huge! Biggest kid section I've seen. The Teens room had their own room. There were multiple study rooms which is pretty awesome, I haven't seen those in the libraries I've been to in the past. There's an art studio as well. The kids/preschool section was nicely decorated. The books were organized and they seem to have a huge collection of childrens books. My toddler loved the play kitchen; there's a puppet section under the tree, a play boat with fishing toys, blocks, chess table, computers, and magnetic blocks. We spent over an hour there and it's a great place to take the kids. I see that they have many events planned that's posted on their bulletin board. I will be back for sure!

So in terms of the actual library: parking was ample. It was an easy in and out. The actual building was impressive, it looked almost like a modern castle, and they had trash cans by their front door. I can't tell you how much time I have wasted in my life trying to find a trash can, and they have two within eyesight of the front door. The bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and the books seem to be part of a thorough collection. The actual author event was fantastic; they went above and beyond to make it as summery as they could, and were even playing the sounds of crashing waves as people walked in. Along Union St. is a place called The George Maxwell Memorial Library (known professionally as the Rockville Public Library). Housed in over 100,000+ books, periodicals, movies, & other resources, this is the place you might want to look forward into (if you haven't been there, I'm pretty sure you'll like it there). This is a reader's favorite place to read & relax! I have been coming here for many years. This institution is one of the town's most recognized landmarks in existence. Opened in 1904, it had been an independent library up until just last year. It finally became a town department (in prior years, it was operated by the endowment given in dedication to the memorial of the late George Maxwell) in July of 2018 so the town of Vernon now takes full control of this 115+ year old landmark. Now, once you walk inside the library by using the front entrance, you'll notice that they have a lot of historical, well-maintained elements from the time the doors were first opened to the public. Here, you'll see a lonely chair in the reading room (that hasn't been repurposed or recycled) that was there since 1904, along with a light fixture on the top of the ceiling. In the Adult's Department, they have a lot of selection of books, ranging from bestsellers to biographies to books on Holocaust in the dedicated section about its historical event. They don't just carry books, they also bring to you cupcake pans on loan. Then, in the Teen section, they have their room with a lot of selection of these books. Yes, they have a teen librarian who runs it! Next, you walk downstairs, and there you see a Children's room. A room that has a lot to offer for young children & tweens. There's a lot of children's books for all ages! Every time I visit this library (I go there every couple of weeks, considering it's my hometown library!), there is something new I want to get carried on in my hands. A book, a movie, or even a magazine may excite me a lot as I always use my library card to check it out. Annually, they bring in a month full of festive trees in December, a student art exhibit during early spring, etc... You might want to consider making your stop at the library the next time you head out! Just to either get a library card (and have a book checked out!) or attend a library event. The location was home to a General and it was originally built in 1777. It's a large and beautiful library with plenty of parking. My children and I explored the ginormous children's room. There was a computer area, a train table, a puppet area, a toy kitchen, blocks, and games. There were plenty of places to sit. I love that they have self checkouts. The librarians were friendly. I've said it before and I'll say it again and again; the library is a great resource! It has events, programs, museum passes, and more. My children and I are library fans. Overall, it's definitely up there with one of my favorite libraries.

Many interesting and fun programs over the years from craft projects to fantastic performances. The staff are amazing humans who put 100% into everything they do, not just for the kids, but the whole family. Very knowledgeable and supportive. Great books of every kind, including tough subjects and how to talk to kids about anything: bullying or bodies or big life changes. The adults area is great and I have enjoyed taking my laptop and doing quiet work by the enormous windows at the provided desks- that have outlets! There were two librarians there; I spoke to one and she was very friendly. The play area was very small and cramped. There were a handful of chairs for the adults. There were a few other children there playing; so not much space to sprawl out. Out of all the libraries I've been to, I think is one is average. There are great resources at the library; books, DVDs, audiobooks.

As I walked towards the computers, I found two elderly people complaining about how "they need to upgrade the whole system because nothing is working". I was thinking, why did I come here? I proceeded to print what I needed, and it printed out just fine and quickly. With my papers in hand, I decided to stay a few minutes and check out this library. This is a nice library, very well organized and has plenty of resources. They even have boxes of puzzles, you can check out. I also checked out the kids area. They have plenty of books categorized by holidays, like Christmas and Halloween. There was a very unpleasant lady eyeing me who was working at the children's department. She asked "may I help you?" a few times. I told her, I'm just looking, she kept eyeing me. Is it because I didn't have a child with me? Maybe I'm a teacher or maybe I have a child at home... For this discomfort, I'm l giving this library four stars. I went to the front desk, where I was greeted by a very pleasant lady who I paid 0.40 cents for the four pages I printed.

Occasionally I'll stop by when I have a book in mind that I'd like to check out. The Bishop's Corner Library is a branch of West Hartford Public Library. This is the smallest of the three libraries in town. Despite being small, there's everything here. A smaller library is so much easier to navigate. The books are well categorized, whether they're biographies, fiction or new releases. They have a quiet study area on the opposite end of the library from where the children's play area is. They have books for every child's interest. There's also computers that are marked by child's age. I stopped by the library for a specific book. It was in the new releases. It's actually a book that was released just a few months ago. And they had it at the library. You can check out with a librarian or at the self checkout. The checkout is very easy to use if you have your library card on hand. I have been going to this library for many years, I will continue to do so for many more.
