When we arrived, I definitely was not expecting the alpacas to be free roaming!! They were so cute and obviously well taken care of and loved. I bought some alpaca food for $5 and it was a big portion that kept me and my family busy. All of the staff was friendly and very accommodating. It was a hot day without shade but we didn't have much of a problem.

If you have food they will definitely come! It was so much fun interacting with the animals on this farm. We camped for the night and in the morning we were greeted at our van by the old donkey on the farm. The alpacas are the main star though, so friendly and adorable! We brought our dogs with us and the alpacas were very curious to meet them. They followed us around the farm for quite a while. I literately fell in love with this place and I can't wait to go back!!! There were even twins goats born the hour before we arrived. What's not to love about this amazing place. I feel lucky to have experienced it!

We watched them being weighed and fed. Glenn was very informative and showed us their fiber room. They also have a wool shop where we bought a saddle rug, alpaca socks, dryer wool balls, and a white alpaca shawl! Such treasures! His wife helped us in the gift shop. They also had a 14 year old girl who was quite helpful with the alpacas and all around their 5 acres... from operating the tractor, to bailing hay! What a great experience!

They had 30 amp service for $10. They own 5 acres of property that you're free to walk around with your pets. They were very helpful with anything you needed. They had a store that had alpaca goods, blankets, socks, scarf, and much more. I would really recommend this place to anyone who would like to have an alpaca farm experience.

Communication was prompt and Beckie was super hospitable at every moment. She was kind and calm, and we all felt welcomed and comfortable. Thanks to her, we learned about alpacas and took some adorable photos. We even got to take home some souvenirs from her cute shop (get the alpaca socks-my husband LOVES his!). As a cherry on top to this fabulous experience, my toddlers got to pick a delicious Fuji apple from Beckie's farm. Wowow, what a fun and unique adventure! Well, their umbrellas were NOT secured, there was a strong gust of wind that lifted the heavy umbrella out from the table, knocked-over drinks, spilled drinks on my girlfriend and our food, the umbrella could have hit and injured her and their response was just "Are you okay?" AFTER I asked my girlfriend if she was alright. No "was anything damaged?" or "Can I get you a towell, or at least replace your drinks?" No, they just took the umbrellas away in a golf cart. Thanks for the mess, the ruined food, spilled drinks from your unsecured umbrellas, and not offering to compensate us at all.

Tickets for the lavender bloom are seasonal and opening dates can vary based on the timing of the bloom each year. They do a great job of posting their bloom updates and open hours. Buy entry tickets in advance and be ready to show them on your phone. On the day I visited, they had a local coffee vendor who was serving lavender infused products and some local makers on site. The farm is not far from the Sacramento and Folsom areas and you can spend the day visiting other local growers or businesses not too far away. What I really enjoyed about the farm were their strategically placed benches and lawns. You can sit in the shade and enjoy the fields from afar after taking time to walk directly through them. Photo ops abound! There's also a farm barn with their wonderful products such as lotions, soaps and culinary items made from their own lavender. If you missed their opening in 2024, be sure to check them out in next year's bloom. Such a pretty and peaceful place!

So there we were, out enjoying a bike ride on our new electric bikes and we ran across this sappy…read morefarmers market on Esmeralda Street in Minden, Nevada. Oh what a treat it was. We bumped into Jay Frey and his desert stream farm booth and I could've stayed there for an hour. They had heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes in four or five different colors, it seemed. Friendly faces that answered questions were available. Heck, it seems like Jay was the tomato whisperer as he pointed out to my wife, which tomato to eat tomorrow not today. He also had a small supply of greens, that we never even tasted, and that's another reason for us to return. Here's the good news, this was Tuesday night, August 19 and Jay let us know that the farmer's market has got another six weeks and then it will be done for this season. It's your chance to come taste some of the best tomatoes of your life. The Minden farmers market is open Tuesday evenings and there's a lot going on here that makes it a friendly fun stop. It's a lot like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting and who wouldn't like that. We enjoyed a cocktail, we sampled potato chips and dip, which we ended up making a purchase and we met many friends while hobnobbing around the market. So you've got the chance to eat tasty, locally owned and grown produce purchased about four miles from the farm. That is something to celebrate these days. We ended up eating one of the four heirloom tomatoes as part of our dinner last night. It was delicious, and I was particularly proud of the fact that I resisted eating every bit of the tomato prior to it getting added to the dish.
