A new discovery today, that made me very happy. June 2015 the tolbar has reopened. It now calls itself the second huiskamer/living room where you can work with your laptop.
And yes, it does feel like I entered one of the student houses from my time studying. Inside the restaurant/bar, furniture is vintage and most areas invite to just hang out. The crowd is arty, from 20-80 and mostly Dutch. Friendly customer service.
I tried a tosti-of-the-week and a coffee. The tosti was yummy. All very affordable.
What makes this place special is that it also offers a cultural program with open podium and movie/dinner combos. This is rare in de Pijp, and a well kept secret for even locals.
Tips:
- The terrace is nice, large. On a sunny day, there are plenty of benches outside to soak up the sun at noon,
- The menu card has only very limited choice for dinner.
- Check out the website for the programm of what if upcoming.
- For 15 Euro you are offered a 3 course meal and a number of short movies (cinema bouffe, at irregular intervals), read more
