I have seriously not been on Yelp for quite some time; however, I had the worst dining experience today at Tokyo Steakhouse. I called ahead of time to ask about their Tepanyaki, and got really excited because the lady told me they were open for lunch til 2:30 p.m., and so my friend and I decided to drive the 20 mins for Tepanyaki. When we got there, they tell us that they are no more seats for Tepanyaki. How funny! I called ahead of time, and let the gal know that I am not from Fresno, and obviously, I was asking about having Tepanyaki, but she forgets to mention that we should get there fast, but she tells me they are open for lunch til 2:30 p.m. If she kindly explained that it was a first come, first serve style with limited spaces for Tepanyaki, we would have come sooner. We asked why they didn't tell us how the Tepanyaki works, and the gal, which later I find out is the manager, tells us that they can't tell us how it works because when we called there were a lot of seats available, and they can't ever know if there will not be seats or some weird explanation that didn't make sense at all to the average consumer. Seriously, it would have just been nice to hear a "Sorry, I guess we forgot to tell you." Because we were under the assumption that as long as we got there at a decent time before 2:30 p.m., we would be able to get some Tepanyaki, based on my conversation with the gal I talked to.
We had no other choice but to do dine-in as we were starving! The gal, the manager, told us to take a seat anywhere in the dining area so we took a seat at the cleanest booth we could find as all the booths were DIRTY. The seat we chose was right by the hostess stand, and although our table was dirty, not one of the employees or the manager could spare some time to greet us or clean the table. It was quite some time before another hostess came to take our drink order. We asked her to clean the table and she took a wet rag and seriously, I think she made it more dirty. I ended up using one of those sanitizer wipes I keep in my purse and wiped the table myself. LOL! The hostess delivered our drinks one at a time. I ordered tea, and it took about 15 minutes after the other drinks were on the table until I got it. Oh, and we didn't even get menus right away.
When our waitress finally came over, we ordered an appetizer, and were still deciding on the rolls. She rushed us and told us we had to order NOW rudely. I asked her for a minute and she basically hesitated to give me the minute!!! She was so rude about it too!
The miso soup was delivered cold. Our appetizer came after our dinner. Oh, and on top of that, when we received our first roll, we didn't have any silverware, no napkins, no ramekins for soy sauce, and no or chopsticks. They gave us chop sticks, then we had to wait for the soy sauce plates. At this point, we still didn't have plates, and we tried to get their attention, but everyone just kept ignoring us. It took them awhile to give us plates so we were eating on napkins....and our table was right by the hostess stand, yet no one could offer us any plates. I don't get why not one employee figured out that we needed proper silverware and plates. And I don't get why they came in piece mail when we asked from them.
Oh, and get this! After eating a roll and our appetizer and waiting another 20-25 minutes, our waitress gives us our check. She doesn't ask us if we would like dessert, or care to see that I've drank all of my tea, and that I need a refill! Oh wait!!! We haven't gotten our main roll!!!! I'm seriously astonished at the service we received!!! I felt really rushed, and the waitress and staff were so oblivious.
As far as the sushi, it was only okay--nothing special. The night before we were at Sakura Chaya, and that sushi is bomb and the ponzu sauce is amazing!!!!!!! I will never ever go back to Tokyo Steakhouse! The rudest service, and the manager was just clueless. read more
