Small little restaurant in a strip mall, doesn't look like much, maybe a dozen total tables and booths, walked in and sat down right away. Onion soup was amazing, ordered an array of sushi all was great, one of the best spicy tuna rolls I've ever had. They didn't serve alcohol at the time i went but food made up for it. Only had a couple of things but continue to get them over and over. Chicken bowl is simple but great. I don't care for the pink sauce that comes with it so I usually sub a side of teriyaki instead. My wife, daughter and I have already been here a couple of times. The food is great, friendly staff and reasonably priced. The place is really new so there are bound to be a few bumps along the way. The sever we have had both times is wonderful. If you're going for sushi you will enjoy the effort that is put in for presentation. If I were to be picky, the menu doesn't have a ton of options and doesn't allow you to modify the order. For example if you prefer soup, which is yummy, you cant substitute it for the salad, also great, that comes with the meal. All and all this place is great and closer to our home which makes it even easier. We will come here often. read more

Been here a couple of times. First time was with my wife. Sushi was made with care by a skilled chef. We had a couple of rolls as well as some sashimi. It was all excellent. We also both had a hibachi dinner. Again, it was prepared very well and taste was excellent. Second time we took my 90 year old mother. Set is not much for sushi but she did have egg roll appetizer and the hibachi chicken. She absolutely cleaned her plate. Service is great, food is great, price is reasonable. I'm a big sushi fan so based on the good reviews thought I'd try it. I got takeout from here last night. Let me break my review into two different sections. 1. Hibachi chicken - good value, good flavor. If this is up your alley, I'd try Tokyo Grill. 2. The sushi - they don't have nigiri or sashimi on their sushi menu which is troubling. That's what I prefer. I thought heck I'd try a couple rolls anyways. The spicy salmon crunch roll was ok. The tuna and avocado roll I was not a fan of...as you can see in the picture the tuna had a grayish tint to it. Didn't taste very fresh. I ate one piece. Based on the different experiences between the two I averaged my rating. I'd give the hibachi a 4 and the sushi a 2, hence the 3. If you like hibachi or are a cooked roll type of sushi person, then I think this would be the place for you. read more

My main gripe is with the Hibachi food. My wife and I both got Steak and Shrimp with fried rice. I never judge a place after just 1 visit, so after 3 visits (two dine in and one carry out) I can give this place 5 enthusiastic stars. I'm not a sushi fan so I can't comment there. However their hibachi steak and jumbo shrimp is delicious. I'm a bit picky about steak because it can be tough, but each time it was tender and cooked medium to medium well-perfect. Food is also fresh tasting. The prices are great at meals around $12 so if you like Japanese Steakhouses but not the price, this is your answer. Dining in, the restaurant is clean and both the times the waitresses have been attentive and friendly. Well it was just a bad night for sushi in Lees Summit. After a bad experience at Mint I decided to skip across town and try this place. The menu seemed a little limited but it is a small place. I was hoping for some sushi and a couple rolls. I don't like the fancy rolls just the simple rolls with the fish. So I ordered the Maiki A which had yellow tail salmon and tuna. It was delivered in a timely manner as expected but after a few bites I gave up. The fish had no flavor other then a lukewarm slightly fishy flavor and the tuna was tuff. So tuff you could feel almost crunch as I sheeted through the pieces. The seaweed wrapper was chewy and had a stale fishy taste to it. I gave up after eating a piece of each of the 3 rolls and tried a 2nd piece of the tuna and just wanted to pay and leave and the server came up and asked if everything was ok. I provided the feedback and was asked if I wanted something different. I was over the attempt that night to eat sushi so I politely declined. The server left and came back with the check and told em I needed to order the soy paper wrappers since I don't like the seaweed. I then explained that I familiar with sushi and that I like the seaweed wrappers. it was the quality of the seaweed/stale flavor of the seaweed and the lack of flavor of the fish and the tuna was so chewy that it felt like I was eating a piece of raw beef and chewing through the muscle fibers. Such a cute little jewel, tucked away in a shopping center by Price Chopper. Each time I have eaten there I have tried different items [of which there are many] and have never been disappointed. The service is exceptional, and you can tell this is a family owned business, with family who truly cares about it's customers. Tried this place on a whim with my boyfriend. Cute, quaint and overall solid choice. I started with the seaweed salad. Very tasty and savory. I went on the safe side with the sushi since this was my first time here and got the california roll and spicy crab roll 6 pcs each. Both good. My boyfriend had the hibachi steak. It came with zucchini, broccoli, and mushrooms (skipped the onions) with fried rice which was a little more on the salty side but hey I love anything salty. However another palette might feel differently. The steak came medium to medium well which was a nice surprise. I know other patrons have mentioned the steak being overcooked but not this time!
