Ralph Stover State Park and overlook is quite honestly one of my favorite places on this earth…read more We go every year once the squelching summer heat and humidity leave us and the breezy fall days arrive. The overlook provides acres of hiking lands, scenic overlooks and peaceful vistas, There is a lot to see as you wander the park. Hawks dance in the skies over the Tohickon creek. Rock climbers ascend and repel the massive rock formations. Squirrels and chipmunks scurry about. There are paths but not so much paved trails, but it is easy to roam without fear of loosing your bearings. Fences and rails provide safety if children are afoot, but fear not there are plenty of access to areas to climb and explore for avid hikers seeking a challenge.

The views of the gorge into the river at the beginning are really pretty. The trail we took went down to the river too. I'm not sure we followed an actual trail, but we walked around for 1-2 hours. If you're looking for hiking and very scenic views, this probably isn't your place. It's a good place to get outside and get some fresh air though.

There's some open areas, nice views and a bridge to the PA side. I'm at 4 stars is for the bathroom and water fountains. Those are crucial considering how long the Delaware Raritan Canal Trail is, unless you bring your own water or don't mind finding a tree and some leaves in the woods to use as a toilet.

Next, I took the Wetland Meadow Ramble until I reached the double bridge and enjoyed views of the stream. The entire hike took less than an hour, making it a quick adventure. Can't wait to return, probably in the Fall, to experience the spring and the ruins.

There were some vendor booths (Dog book author, professional Halloween themed dog Photo Booth , dog themed goods & baked goods for humans too. The fundraising event for the pet charity ANIMAL ALLIANCE. The money raised goes for pet care. Everything went smooth! What fun to see all the neighbors in good cheer. Lots of chuckles and sassy puppy pageantry. What a hoot!

Peace Valley Park was quite busy when we stopped by for a quick walk. Being one of the first nice…read morespring days in PA, the path was quite active with dogs, walkers, runners, and even a bike passed during our brief visit. Six miles of asphalt trail surround Lake Galena. It is handicapped friendly. Plenty of benches along the path to sit and watch the water activities. We will be back later in the season to check out the wooded trails. We took a short walk then drove around to the other side where there were pavilions and a nature center whcih I will discuss in a separate review. From our brief visit, this Doylestown park has a lot to offer. Fishing, boating, picnicking, birdwatching and more. We will be back for sure to explore more.

My first review by campfire light…read more I came along with my boy scout son for a weekend at Tinicum Park in Erwinna, Pennsylvania, just across the Delaware River from Frenchtown, New Jersey. It is not a big park, but has a simple camp facility in an Ash grove a few hundred yards from the water. I remember campout food as being oddly delicious, even with the extra grit and rustic outdoor kitchen, but these days with lightweight stoves and propane flex lines, the campfire is just for night stories. Cooking is much easier, if somewhat less rewarding. Still, I don't think I'll ever get accustomed to deep fried Oreos. The Chicken Tenders and Penne with Ragu were decent after a hike into Frenchtown, and several hours of scout skill training, football, and boys being boys. I even found about 90 minutes to break away and return for R & R at the National Hotel and The Bridge Café while the boys were off on another adventure. Those reviews to follow. Tinicum may not be the first place you think of when considering an upriver jaunt, but if you are into a night or two of roughing it (with a run to Ftown for cocktail and lunch overlooking the river) than it might be the perfect spot to make magic happen.

Stunning views of Lake Nockamixon!! I came here to connect…read morewith my home away from home which is good ole mother nature! I decided to participate in a 3 mile moonlit hike which was hosted by our lovely park ranger Rachel. Lake Nockamixon is a large park with multiple hiking trails. Our partucular trail was paved with color poles to let us know we were on the right path. Throughout our walk we were able to gaze in the sky and see the stars and other constellations. There's also benches and two spacious parking lots. Lake Nockamixon also is a great relaxing place to go fishing and moon gazing! I look forward to returning!

We try to go in the spring and fall to avoid the crowds. It's empty during the winter but so peaceful and beautiful. Don't miss the marina area, especially in April when the Purple Martins come to nest. Fascinating. Nature is so important. We must take care of our earth.

This is a beautiful spot along the Delaware River in Hunterdon County. There is free parking and…read morerestrooms on site. There is direct access to the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail. You can walk, run or bicycle along the canal in either direction. Head south and Stockton is right there or head a little further into Lambertville. You can cross the bridge into New Hope or continue south along the canal. If you are feeling very energetic you can head north to Bull's Island. For the hard core cyclist you can go all the way to Frenchtown. Just remember, wherever you bike or walk to, you have to turn around and go all the way back!
