chicken pad thai
Ethan S.

The pad thai is one of the best I've had and the thai milk tea was also really delicious. while the prices aren't cheap, the food was very filling and I would say well worth the price. we went at around 6:45 pm and they managed to fit us in at a table even though we didn't have a reservation. the restaurant has a cool dining room although it was a little bit cramped but nothing unbearable. if you're looking for thai food in frankfurt, especially if you are specifically looking for pad thai, this place should be high on your list.

Was greeted right away. Sat down at table!! Comfy chairs! Lighting was good. Made me pretty! Ordered drinks, drinks came quickly. Malbec was warm, but made my heart happy. Appetizer crab dish was 10/10!! Pad Thai was wrapped in egg!!! Flavor was excellent !! I will be back here ! It's very vibey !

My first time having "Fried Ribs"...I just hope I can find some as delicious as these back in the USA.

Panang curry with crispy duck

Let me just preface this by saying that this place would have been a three-star if service was better. The food was a solid three in my opinion. I ended up here on a Sunday night at around 8:30pm or so with a group of four other friends. The place was fairly busy and had about five occupied tables outside and most booked inside (small area, but packed). I had been wanting to try this place for a while based on the recommendation of my friend who happens to be married to a Thai woman. I was craving Thai food, as I always do, and was stoked to finally eat here! We were seated inside and it was sweltering. We were given menus and about fifteen minutes later, our orders were taken. I will make note that there is a 'special' Thai menu that was handed to us, but given that every single dish on it had more or less the same description and photo, I was hesitant to use it. I just wanted some good and solid food, regardless of whether or not it was deemed 'authentic' or not. I ordered a panang curry exra spicy. My boyfriend ordered a basic pad thai and we also ordered a starter to share (the satay mix starter). The main dishes costs us around 8,40 each. We both ordered crispy duck as the protein. Nearly an HOUR later, the dishes came to us. A little cold. The duck, what there was of it (not my money's worth, that's for sure), was no longer crispy. While the entrees made it out, the starter never did. Finally, after I was already digging into my food, the starter came out. Here's the thing with Toh-Thong- the ONE guy who was waiting tables was busting his ass. I've never seen someone work so hard. But why there were a bajillion people in the kitchen cooking and not assisting him was beyond me. Clearly they were able to get the food out quick as mine was rather cold. It would just take a manager to help the poor guy run food to tables. Or hell, be daring and hire another person. This was just the most absurd wait and service I've ever had. Thank gosh I was with friends or I would have been pulling my hair out waiting. The food was just alright. I was so pissed at the time that I claimed it was awful. It wasn't terrible but I will never go there again. All I could think as I was eating my meal was that I could make it better myself at home. And I'm sure I could. No way in this world would I go back to subject myself to that lousy of service again. Aroydee is the better choice with better service- even if it is difficult to get into and loud.

Yummy pad thai with chicken, despite the brown edges on the bean sprouts

We saw this restaurant walking around and decided to try it. They were nearly full on a Tuesday evening around 8pm with a very diverse, international clientele. Our food came out pretty quickly and was quite tasty. My chicken pad thai was delicious and my husband enjoyed his beef dish (#55, I forget the name). * Minus half a star for the noise (to be expected with a full restaurant, but could be mitigated for greater ease of conversation). * Minus half a star for the beef portion (seemed a bit small) on my husband's dish Overall we would go back if we lived nearby. Nice thai place!

Came here based on the positive reviews. Not a bad option to meet your Thai fix in. Prices are reasonable and portions are filling. Went with the duck pad thai which looked wonderful but the noodles were just ok. The duck tasted juicy. The dried beef is their version of jerky? Salad was a bit salty. Overall 3 stars because everything ranged from OK to great (duck)

As I could notice by pictures and reviews, this place is very consistent. The food was great, fresh and very flavorful, and you can ask for it not to be too spicy, people where friendly, the place was clean and the food came out quickly. You know its a clean place when you find the cook eating the same food on the table next to you :). I will definitely come back here.

It started off with the front girl not being very pleasant to deal with....but who cares as long as the food is good. I ordered the Khao soi and requested it with beef. Was told no can only have with chicken. Fine chicken it is! Asked for a thai tea and a water. I get the Thai Tea and it is not Thai Tea. It was some form of disgusting americanized sweet tea. I have had hundreds of thai tea's and this was not it. I spoke with the girl to let her know and she said this is always how it is made....nope its not. It's brewed black tea with spices with condensed milk added to sweeten. The drink that was given to me was nowhere close and all I got was a condescending tone from her when I tried explaining this wasn't what I wanted. I sent the whole thing back full. Now to the Khao Soi. Maybe the people working are not from Northern Thailand because this was the furthest thing from Khao soi as well. No egg noodles were used. No crispy egg noodle on top. No pickled greens. No lime. And served on a plate not a bowl. No spice or flavor, very bland. The water was delicious though to wash the bland taste out of my mouth. Waste of 15 euros.

Also gallons of weissbier and enough alcohol to last through the Christmas holidays (it's only September!). The restaurant is in a quiet area with an inviting atmosphere. The server noticed that we were not native and combined 2 tables to create a 4 top for the 2 of us. (Would NEVER happen in NYC or Paris...never!) The steaks were very good, well marbled, flavorful, tender and served perfectly medium rare. Appetizers were good, but the scallops just a touch underdone, more like warm sashimi. Our server Alina, originally from Armenia, was warm and shared a bunch about her 20 year German journey. An amazing evening, we walked the 3.5km back to our hotels to prepare to head home. Perfect end to a good trip.

Ordered an original Thai green curry, the Thai spicy level, it was spicy for sure! But nothing that special about it. The place is, i would say, more for business dinners. It was packed with international visitors that looked like they were coming from the Messe that day. Also groups of people wearing business attire, maybe having annual dinner parties. Definitely not a typical romantic date place. It's a bit too noisy.

There was a generous amount of duck and the noodles were tasty. My one critique is that the mushrooms were very undercooked. The restaurant has 2 floors with a good amount of seating available. It is a clean space with a casual vibe. The service speed is decent and the staff are friendly. They have lots of different menu options to choose from. Overall, I think Der Thai could make for a good casual meal spot, but I wouldn't really go out of your way to come here.

The place has a neat modern décor. I think there is a second level upstairs but it roped off, perhaps for VIP or parties? There were Thai people eating there and touristy folks. All in all the first level could maybe seat 15-20 people, so I guess not that small. I had the Gaeng Kua Ped Grob, what? You heard me. It's a mild dish served with a tropical fruity sweat like sauce. I order mainly because I wanted the "Knusprig Gebackene Ente", one of my favorites. Does it live up to it's name? Yes and no, I wasn't disappointed but I didn't like that the crispiness didn't live up to it's part... meaning not so crispy. The meat was slightly on the tough side. And the sauce was sweat and that's it. I could make better. Did the sauce come out of a can or did someone just concoct ketchup with orange and spices? It had peas, peppers and the one piece of Lychee fruit in the mix. Presentation-wise was decent. With a side of rice. The meal was average. For 8.80 Euros. The only funny thing is I asked for water and she asked me with gas or without gas. Perplexed for a second, oh! She meant sparkling/carbonated or not. Yes, with gas please.
