The new ring will be worn often! Atef thinks of artistic designs that I would not think of. At the same time, he is not glued to his own opinions, and he works with his client to create a piece that suits the client's taste. I was very happy to see all the diverse items that she promotes and inspires in the middle of what might be a less than liberal area, She sells and donates the proceeds of Haitian art back to the Haitian communities. Some of my finds from Junque include an art nouveau-style orchid pin ($3), an old silver hairbrush ($6), and an enormous swathe of velvet and lace damask from the '20s ($20). The bakery and café next door (Nova Mae) is humble and quaint, but offers some of the best and most inexpensive food in town. I'm more accustomed to fancier places, but have always been happy with the food and service here. Their pastries are especially good.
