The most recent issue has been with my younger child who needs, per their recommendation, to have wisdom teeth removed, so when I made an appointment with an outside Oral Surgeon that we have great experience with in the past, they refused to send any of his records to the Oral Surgeon's office, which I have been told is not uncommon for this dental practice.

When she arrived, and after waiting 20min, they told her they had overbooked and they couldn't see her at all today, so she needed to reschedule. This experience cost her 1 day lost income from her job, plus she wasted the 2 hours commuting back and forth from Boston. Very disappointing and upsetting. If they needed to reschedule, they should have called at least 24 hours earlier. Once she was in the office, they should honor the appointment and see her, so this was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Stay away from this office.

Donna the hygienist was outstanding. She was animated, fun, interactive and thorough in explaining the process to my daughter, step by step. Dr. Brandon Ladeau was, as usual; kind, compassionate and very informative in explaining how adolescent teeth and hygiene impact adult teeth. He explained the importance of proper or hygiene to my daughter. I have been a patient for 3 years now and each visit has been better than the last. I never expected to feel so passionate about expressing how impressed I have been with a dental practice. They are honest, professional, pleasant and personalize the experience for each patient. My mom and I have been patients of Dr. Wagner's (Moeckel's business partner) for more than 15 years and he is one of the most caring health care providers I have ever met. I've had the pleasure of working with Dr. Moeckel as well during the times when Dr. Wagner is away and she shares his warmth and dedication to their patients. The entire staff is positive, friendly and kind - and it's genuine, not forced. That kind of mutual respect & regard is cultivated by great management and compassion - Dr. Wagner, Dr. Moeckel and their entire staff from the front desk to the dental chair deserve kudos and more for their impressive work. And while I've waxed poetic about their personal touch, it's important to mention that they are precise and committed to getting it right. After suffering a recent "dental emergency", I had the occassion to interact with many different members of the staff - each one was careful and patient at every step from drilling to creating a temporary crown (they took great pains to make sure the color would match my teeth and it's only a temporary fix!). The lobby is a relaxing sage with wainscot everywhere... I feel like I'm waiting for a massage at a high end spa instead of a cleaning. Every staff member there is happy and friendly. I've only been twice so far, six months apart, so I only feel so bad that I don't know everyone's names yet... but they're great. The hygienist is first rate. Yes, she scolds me for not flossing enough. I know I know. (Actually, I HAVE been flossing more lately but I don't really credit the scolding.) Besides the scolding, she really is gentle and precise. I remember having a cleaning in Canton once and the hygienist kept stabbing me in the gums, which hurt, and then had the nerve to tell me I probably had advanced gum disease since my gums were bleeding so much. (If you prick me, will I not bleed? Bitch). But not here. All gentle and full of love, well, as much love as you can give whilst scraping tartar from a person's teeth. The dentist is great. Okay, she's never done more than poke around my mouth for a few minutes 'cause I have the good teeth, but she's also never tried to push unnecessary cosmetic teeth stuff on me that other dentists have in the past. Since my initial visit, I've had a root canal by Dr. Ostlieher(?), and that was as pleasant as root canals get. I had to get a crown lengthening done, and this is what caused me to update my review. Dr. Moria was the guy who performed this particularly nasty bit of dentistry, and apparently he specializes in doing incredibly painful things in such a way that you can't feel a thing. I explained to the doctor again, how much I don't deal well with pain. After he finished numbing me up, I could have taken a shovel to the face and not noticed. He went about his business, which was unpleasant, but not painful. After he was done, I was a drooling, saggy faced, lispy, mess. I got asked out 3 times on the way back to my car. It was hot. Anyway, I can suggest this Dental Office with all my soul. If you hate the dentist, you'll be fine here, because even though they still root around in your head (being dentists) they make it so you have no idea what is actually happening. Just how it should be.

There's a running theme in the way Dr. S manages her practice as it's run with long time, dedicated, kind employees. Brandon, the hygienist, I give tons of praise to! He does our whole family's cleanings. He's patient, very dedicated to his craft, gentle, he gets all the junk out & is thorough. I have a small mouth, so chickens out there, he's very gentle. My oral hygiene improved after he started doing my cleanings, as I floss more. They r ok if I don't do X-rays every yr. Prior to him, I had Phyllis do my cleanings for 15+ yrs, she was personal, kind and very thorough w cleanings. We switched our kids from a pediatric dentistry practice down the street and our kids say the cleanings @ Assabet Dental are more thorough and the hygienists pay attention to you (and not to ea other and talk over you).
