They have changed their front desk staff who seem to be much friendlier as well. Also, they now have an in-office therapy dog who is SO cute and always comes to greet when I am in the waiting room! Their dental hygienists (their past ones and current one) are always so friendly and kind, and you can tell they are very passionate about dental health and they are always happy to explain what they are doing and educate how to maintain dental health. It became difficult to distinguish between ethical care and aggressive upselling, which ultimately eroded my trust. The turning point came when I agreed to replace a perfectly functional crown based solely on its age. The procedure was uncomfortable, but what stood out most was what happened just before the new crown was placed: while sitting in the chair with exposed, sensitive dentin, I was handed an electronic signature pad and told to sign a form--sight unseen. The dental assistant couldn't explain what I was signing, only that it was required before continuing. In pain and vulnerable, I felt pressured to sign what turned out to be a release of liability regarding the crown's fit and color--before it was even placed. That didn't meet my expectation of informed consent--it felt coercive. I insisted on seeing the form, and after nearly 20 minutes, they finally projected it onto a wall. Still, the message was clear: sign now or remain in pain. Under duress, I signed as no alternative was offered. Afterward, I voiced my concerns to Dr. Sandler. Rather than taking accountability, she blamed the software, dismissing my experience. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the distress caused. I've never sued anyone and don't plan to start now--but this experience crossed a line. I understand the need for legal protection, but demanding a release at such a vulnerable moment, without explanation or opportunity to review it, felt unethical. Since then, I've had unexpected difficulty scheduling cleanings--something I've seen echoed in reviews by others who didn't leave 5-star ratings. I can't say for sure it's retaliation, but it fits a troubling pattern. SFD may work for others, but based on my experience, I'm not comfortable with their transparency or consent practices. Not taking responsibility at the time--or addressing it since--has broken my trust.

Somewhere between February and August baby came and out of network provider and while we are required to let them know any insurance updates, they do not do the same. Out of the two times I had went they offered fluoride treatment, and did not specify it would be an extra charge. The first time I declined, and the second time I agreed because I had come across the coupon on yelp. I didn't notify the woman that I would be using this coupon and as you can see it had been used. However, she decided to go ahead and run it through my insurance so that they could collect the money on it rather than honoring the free service they offered. In addition to this, I was quoted for a crown and a filling without them checking my insurance. They asked if they could do that for me and when they did they came back with even higher numbers. When I asked if she had actually contacted my insurance, she said no. So I am confused about what was projected and how it continue to get higher between employees and the fact that she wanted to convince me that she had discussed this with my insurance prior to me sharing my knowledge of what is actually covered. This has been a fiasco, and I'm ashamed to say that I actually referred friends to this place based off of my first experience and find out that others are also having the same issue.

Most were closed, a few took messages, but no one could see me - until this office called me back within 20 minutes. Not only did the dentist offer to stay late so I could drive an hour to get there, but the entire team - Crystal at the front desk and Kim who took my x-rays and assisted in the work - was incredibly warm, kind, and accommodating. They welcomed me in with genuine care and empathy when I was in a lot of pain and feeling panicked. The dentist had me looking good as new in no time and went above and beyond by performing a comprehensive assessment to evaluate the overall state of my teeth. He even provided a second opinion on some recent recommendations from my regular dentist, which I really appreciated. I left not only out of pain but with so much value from this last-minute visit.
