The Service: The woman taking our orders was dismissive and seemingly unable to communicate effectively. I had to repeat the word "Greek" three times, and she still didn't understand what I was ordering until both my wife and son intervened to repeat it for her. When I tried to explain that we were a party of three and had more items to add to the ticket, she cut me off, slightly raised her voice, and demandingly repeated, "Name!" To top it off, she still managed to get the order wrong. My wife ordered the PB+B Bowl, but was served the PB Crunch Toast instead. The Value: The portions are incredibly small and do not justify the high price point. For a breakfast spot, the value proposition just isn't there. We left the establishment still feeling hungry and actually had to go to a second breakfast place immediately after just to get a full meal. The Tipping Culture: I deeply regret leaving a 15% tip. This is a self-service establishment where we picked up our own food and cleaned our own table. There is no additional service provided to warrant an expected tip, especially when the service we did receive was so poor. I've been meaning to come here since they opened, and I'm so glad I finally did! Toastique not only offers healthier options, but they also have some incredibly unique choices. When I first walked in, I thought the prices were a bit steep, but after tasting the food, I realized it's well worth it for the quality (and those enormous portions). Toastique opened and I was really excited to have an acai bowl shop right in San Pedro especially bc there was a Starbucks there before and I'm not a fan of Starbucks. We went for breakfast on Sunday, and there we actually a good amount of patrons there. Ordering was quick where we got an avocado toast, green smoothie, and acai bowl. The avocado toast had a large whopping of whipped avocado, and the small tomatoes + salt were quite good. Green smoothie was very solid, and acai bowl was to my liking! Goodness, I did not think San Jose would really come out to this particular event on a morning where it was literally 35° outside for the grand opening! My foodie friend and I arrived at 7:45 and goodness we were in a huge line at least a block away!! It took us 2 1/2 hours to order our avocado toast and açai bowl with this delicious turmeric juice but goodness! We really wanted to get some of the freebies, but we were customer 115 and 116 in line! Lol Oh well, next time! This particular café was very clean and modern, and I loved the map on the main wall with a mural of San Jose! So cool to see it and figure out exactly where we were! Great addition to San Pedro Square, especially taking over the old Starbucks location. The smoothies were excellent--the Iced Brew (banana coffee smoothie) was a standout: smooth, not overly sweet, and perfect if you want something that feels like coffee and breakfast in one. The açaí bowl was fresh, well-balanced, and nicely topped without being overly heavy. The kids menu is also a great touch--it's nice to have a quality, kid-friendly café option for hanging out in the neighborhood. The outdoor seating was great for my son and I! Found this place on a whim and totally worth walking in the rain for. First the staff is super friendly and made us feel welcome. I got the tomato burrata toast and my daughter got the pb crunch. Didn't wait long came out within 10 or so minutes. Very fresh ingredients! I like that the ricotta wasn't thickly spread on the toast. Not only was it visually appealing but tasted great. The tomato was nice a firm. The burrata was delicious and creamy. I finished the entire toast and left me wanting to try another one. My daughter liked hers as well and she ate more three quarters which is big for her as she usually only has a few bites when we go out to eat. She did say that it was a lot of toppings (kids take). This was my second time coming and I sat outside which was a whole vibe. The outside seating was such a nice area, I can't wait to go back and repeat this outing. Customer service is just so good and friendly. Visited Toastique this past weekend, as Saturday was the grand opening, and they were offering promos and giveaways all day. I took advantage of the first 100 guests receiving $50 in Toastique Reward Dollars. There was already a small line on Santa Clara Street an hour before opening time, which extended more than a block long by 8am. Staff was friendly even before the doors opened, making everyone feel welcome as we stood outside on this cold morning. They also reminded everyone to download the app to get their rewards points. I appreciate their efficiency and efforts to make things run smoothly. There was only one order counter in the cafe. I was probably the 10th customer and reached the front of the line about 15-20 minutes after opening time. Drinks were ready in just a few minutes, and my food items took ten minutes. There were only about 4 tables inside, but the place was clean and cute and offered more seating outside, with patio heaters turned on during winter and a DJ booth in the corner. There was also merchandise for sale, like shirts, totes, and candles, as well as various packaged snacks on display, adding more options beyond their unique and tasty food and drink menu. I ordered an iced mocha with 2% milk, green machine smoothie, avocado smash gourmet toast, and 3-cheese italian with an added poached egg for $2 extra. Everything was delish! The iced mocha was one of the best I've had, smooth and chocolatey. The 3 cheese italian toast was yummy, especially the fresh tasting cheddar jalapeno bread, wow! The green machine smoothie had a nice balance of flavor. And the avocado smash toast was loaded, my bf finished every last bite. I got the Avocado Smash Toast which I promptly smashed into my tummy! It was delicious but the portion size is a little small for the $$. The chilli oil was a nice touch tho. I also ordered the Purple Heart Smoothie which took close to 30 minutes to be made and arrived after I'd eaten my meal. Another spot I had added to my "want to go" list, that I do not regret adding!!! Went in with high hopes, left with even higher satisfaction. The place is small and cozy, but the vibe and design is very modern and chic. It was very packed, but once I got face-to-face with the girl behind the counter taking orders, I started to get a sense of why this place was so packed with people. She was just one of many pretty girls working that day, but oh my goodness was she SO sweet. Immediately complimented me when I walked up, and it seemed like she was genuinely a kind person- not the "fake nice" vibe you might get from an employee working in the food industry. She turned around and asked a man that I assume is the owner. He recommended "Radiance" as the sweetest. I read the description and it had listed: grapefruit, orange, blood orange, pineapple, and basil. Against my best judgement, I trusted him and got it. It's sour... To be fair, it's not airhead candy kind of sour, but you definitely taste the sourness coming from the grapefruit. Was it a bad drink? No, it's up someone else's alley, just not mine. I really did not like the sourness though...just not for me. It's all the more disappointing when I chose to trust them after clearly saying I don't like sour things. -I had looked it up online and thought the $8 bottled juice was a better deal than the $9 fresh cup, but I was wrong. Maybe I missed the disclaimer, but I was not expecting the $4 charge for the glass bottle. Not to mention, if you do use their recycling program, they'd credit you $1 for the bottle return. -On a more positive note, they filled the bottle to the brim! They were on day 3 of opening the day I went (2/3/26) so I'm willing to look past some things until they're more on their feet. read more

Just by looking at Toastique's interior, full of greenery, I could tell this place is all about serving healthy, nutritious food. My friend and I got their Green Machine smoothie, Matcha bowl, and the Tomato Burrata toast. For the Green Machine smoothie, I must say the kale, spinach, and lime flavors are more prominent than the other fruit ingredients, but not in a bad way; it tastes more refreshing and has more of that zing than other smoothies I've had at other stores. But I do wish the fruit ingredients stood out as well. For the Tomato Burrata toast, I like how it strikes a good balance between the burrata's creaminess and the tomatoes' tang; overall, it offers an even mix of flavors from all the ingredients. The situation with the Matcha bowl was pretty unique: during the order, the manager had already told me they had run out of frozen bananas for it. Therefore, the bowl will not be as thick as it should be, and he asked me if I was okay with it. I said yes and still ordered it. As I had received the Matcha bowl, sat down with my friend, and was eating it, the manager came to our table a while later and gave us a second Matcha bowl because this one now had the frozen bananas (they had been able to get a refill). It was in the house as well; I really appreciate the manager for taking the time to make another bowl so I could get the proper taste. As for the taste comparison between the two Matcha bowls, the one without the frozen banana had a taste profile similar to the Green Machine smoothie: zingy and refreshing. With the frozen bananas in it, it's less zingy, a bit more creamy, for sure thicker, and surprisingly, less sweet. Personally, I prefer the one with the frozen bananas. I do think they lacked the matcha flavor, so they would've been better with more of it. For all three items, I really like how I can tell this place actually makes them with just healthy ingredients, since they were simple-tasting, refreshing, and didn't have that artificial sugar taste. The blue mystique - this is an eye catching blue drink that sparked my curiosity. It's a smoothie made of banana, pineapple, mango and blue spirulina. It's made with almond milk so it's dairy free. The avocado smash - I was able to try the gluten free and the regular avocado toast. The presentation was pretty. The watermelon radishes give it a really nice color. The egg on top really brings together all the flavors. I can't wait to try the other menu options. Customer service could use some improvement. I found myself leading the entire interaction from greeting to placing the order. They were busy, which I understand, but a 35-minute wait for two drinks and two toasts felt excessive. When my name was called, I was asked what my order was, which caught me off guard. Only part of it was ready, and my final drink added another 10 minutes to the wait. They did offer a drink upgrade and energy bites to make up for it, which I appreciated. At that point though I just wanted to grab my order and head out. We visited during their grand opening and the service and food were fantastic, so I'm not sure what changed.
