End Zone Hobby Center - My favorite place to visit when in Utah!

I have shopped at End Zone for about 16 years as a well-stocked store for German-style board games…read more There was a time that if you told them what games you liked best, they would recommend a purchase to you with a money-back guarantee that you'd love it. The few times I tried it their recommendation was worth the purchase. Now with almost 500 games in my collection and using BoardGameGeek for most game news, reviews and players' community, I only stop in for board games occasionally if they happen to have something new on hand for as fair a price as anywhere--sometimes works out, sometimes not. Today the stock on hand in the Clearfield store is quite impressive--less so in Bountiful. Indeed the 10% off MSRP prices are less common now than they once were yet I still recommend End Zone for its generally reliable effort to put some 'friendly' into the Friendly Local Game Store shopping experience. That said, if the small staff are tied up chatting with anyone else, the huge amount of stock can be challenging to navigate and find what you're searching for among the stuffed and cluttered shelves. I stop in End Zone more often now for the large LEGO store that now occupies half of the former retail space -- with the DnD and collectible miniatures/card games that one were there having expanded to the retail space next door. Their business has grown a lot! As a frequent LEGO buyer I find End Zone is an awesome store for adult fans and kids. As a 'gold' account member they get to stock many of the large and exclusive sets one normally only finds at LEGO brand stores or online. In pandemic times LEGO exclusives have frequently been out of stock online, so End Zone has proved to be a worthwhile stop for finding what I was seeking. Not always, but regularly. It's unfortunate that one doesn't earn any of the gifts-with-purchase or other loyalty rewards that LEGO offers for purchases through their brand & online stores--which tempers some of my purchases here--but at least End Zone prices their sets at MSRP. Retired set availability can vary widely of course. And End Zone doesn't carry any of the Build-A-Minifigure kiosk exclusives. But at least they are not like the Teton Toys store at Farmington Station who price their LEGO retail stock far above MSRP.

I walked in to one customer and one employee, the employee off the bat looked visibly annoyed by my presence but given the fact he was sorting through things, and I'm also sure that he has a lot of people like this come in without much knowledge about cards in general, knowing this I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt, but then I gave him my cards to look through and I didn't expect much at all and if not I would've just given him the cards and left but he just had his attitude and annoyance that overtook it seemed, he told me he would just give these cards to kids. I tried stacking them all nicely to not make is such a hassle for them to look thru before leaving my home and all I could find was this Velcro wrapping on the floor before leaving in a rush, he later made an observation about it jokingly saying "it was interesting". It was actually a bit funny but I'm not really sure why he'd say that. At the end of it he just tossed my stuff on the counter didn't say anything to me, and talked to the other customer as the customer was asking a question but no thank you or have a nice day. Just overall a very awkward and bad first impression

Whether you're playing DND or Pathfinder or whatever they have it. Great selection of family friendly, and cooperative games as well. There are cute little mystery gifts all wrapped up and ready to go, in case you forget it's your niece's birthday! (She absolutely loved it by the way!!!) There's always some tabletop games going. You can check the Facebook page for the calendar or call ahead to see what's happening. There's Painting nights. Adult gaming nights. Loads of other activities and events. Affordable dice. Cute little snack area. Jewelry and gifts. Lots of little things you wouldn't expect at a gaming store. I've loved every purchase I've made here. The best part is that everyone is welcome, it's like a loving little family hanging out there. Tons of support. The owner goes out of her way to make sure that people with disabilities, are on the spectrum, etc. have a safe place to enjoy their hobby. If you're looking for a place with a sense of community, whether urine experience player or have never played before but want to learn, or just love geeking out ... this is the place!

There are a lot of places to play games as well, and one of the largest in-house game library I've seen. A great vibe with trading card games, board games, table top RPGs, wargames, and a special event featuring Binary Cocoa's upcoming game "Shadow Brume" all sharing space without being crowded.

Obviously, this isn't a big box store, so prices are a little higher. The spectrum of toys more than makes up for the higher prices, in my opinion. Lots of "old school" toys, like their awesome marbles section, and plenty of new age educational toys as well. Indoors...outdoors...board games, puzzles, books...they've got it covered!

They have a little bit of everything here, but they especially stock a lot of puzzles, games, Beanie Babies, quality animal figurines from companies like Schleich, along with a healthy selection of marbles. They don't carry many dolls or action figures, and are thin on plush toys. I was hoping to find some Uglydolls, and carrying some vinyl collectible toys would be nice for us older kids. Service is friendly and helpful. The store could be more kid-friendly, with more kid-centric decor, maybe a fun mural, kid colors..more character. I can tell the owners are a bit anal-retentive here, with a dozen plus signs around the animal figurines that say not to play with the toys. How about just letting kids be kids? Or make a designated Kid Zone with a bunch of sample toys to play with. It feels a bit like a library, like I should whisper, probably due mostly to lack of customers and no background noise. While it's nice having a locally owned toy store, Red Balloon is geared toward an adult clientele. They really need someone to come in and help them redesign the place with kids in mind. FAO Schwarz it is not.
