As my father in law is now approaching 102 (next month), the level of care is now essential and "round the clock". With us living on the East Coast and for my wife's father to be able to remain in his own home, having a fully reliable and conscientious service was not only very important but now has become a true requirement. Because of the commitment and dedication of the owner and a number of also extraordinary staff members, we believe that the care provided has most often been truly excellent. Over now more than 2 years, Assisting Hands has earned our Trust and Confidence. When a caregiver was unavailable, Assisting Hands has always been agile and "there" to assure continuous "on site" coverage, without exception. We thank the owner and a large number of caregivers for their fine efforts, often exceeding high expectations, and delivering a level of service that has permitted my father in law to be able to stay in his home, as he very much wanted and currently desires. Should there be any questions that could be addressed by us, kindly contact the owner of Assisting Hands for our Western, New York contact information. It is true for us that a partnership with an organization such as Assisting Hands works best when there is an active family support person(s) in full contact with the service provider. The owner of Assisting Hands has gone well beyond more than both normal and high expectations to personally do everything possible to provide quality, timely, and proactive service. We have been very impressed and appreciative for the excellent overall personal services received. We very much recognize what Assisting Hands has provided for our family. We are grateful to my wife's sister for finding Assisting Hands and initiating its services, and to Nina for her caring approach in running her business. JGU

While still able to get around with her walker, she needed assistance for many of her daily functions. As we are both in our late 70's, we determined that some in-home weekly assistance would be needed. Relying on Yelp reviews we contacted San Diego Home Caregivers and met with the owner Sterling Miles. It was clear from the start that finding the right caregiver and meeting all of Mom's needs was his top priority. He even gave us information on other options in case his services might not meet our needs. He is genuine in his concern and commitment to providing top level care. We could not have been more impressed when we met Mom's new caregiver Jasmine. Her cheerful, warm personality was a perfect fit, and Mom was immediately comfortable with her. She went out of her way to not only care for Mom but to also help us in any way she could. Unfortunately, by the end of January Mom was at the end stage of her life. Because she was so comfortable with Jasmine, we had her continue to come even though Mom also had Hospice care by that time. As 20 family members came to say their goodbyes over the final two weeks, they were also very impressed with how caring Jasmine was and how much Mom appreciated having her there. We highly recommend Sterling and San Diego Home Caregivers.

I saw the great reviews for San Diego Home Caregivers and reached out to them. They set up a quick home evaluation and Sterling came out to the house. My mom told me that he was so kind, gentle, and full of compassion. He then called me to fill me in on a plan to get them help. Sterling went above and beyond to provide us help. It was clear to me that Sterling is in this business because he cares more about people than simply making a dollar. If you are looking for a company that cares about those you care about, I highly recommend San Diego Home Caregivers. You will be as thoroughly impressed as us when you meet Sterling at the free home evaluation. Hope this review is helpful to you in choosing the right caregiver company!

She was exhausted and he was uncomfortable. We were referred to Huntington Gate by the hospice social worker. Placing a loved one in a facility can be overwhelming and Huntington Gate made us feel comfortable, safe and at peace with our decision. The owner, Phillip, knew all the right things to say and helped us along the way. He made us not feel guilty about or decision by explaining the round-the-clock care and how we could now rest and focus on being his family. Our caregiver, Tess and everyone else were so kind and knowledgeable. It's hard to be around such sadness, but they made us feel good. I wish we could have known them longer but my father-in-law went peacefully because of them and we are forever grateful.

Food was exceptional, healthy and delicious. I will miss my daily visits there but have promised to come and be a regular visitor. My hubby Lew had a beautiful room with a private bathroom. In fact all the residents had their own bathrooms. The location in Poway was in a very beautiful neighborhood of luxury homes with tree lined streets. With only a maximum of 6 residents, the care was very personal.

(Days were good) Dad needed more rehab than nursing care and OT/PT was awesome. Melissa and Theresa stood out, they were very engaged with my dad challenging and encouraging him nonstop and they stayed consistent with him. He always talked positively about them. Marlene I believe her name was as a RNA that was good. Pawan was very attentive as well even though I don't think he was really assigned to his room. Appreciated him. Amy in the dining room was so attentive my dad didn't care for her in the beginning but he quickly learned she was just persistent and was looking out for him. Jamil I think his name I was also good. Brandi comes to mind too. Areas they could improve in was not just response time to red button sometimes taking 30-45 minutes but also many times they would come and ask what was needed but didn't return with what my dad would ask. Some (guys) were also rough with my dad and he would call them out. I think they thought he was out of it? Many times my dad would need to use the restroom and they would tell him to just go in his diaper. This happened A LOT. I had to speak up multiple times saying he needed to practice transfers and get on the toilet. It was obvious they just didn't want to do it. Also he was to get up for each meal and I'd catch him in bed many times and they would say "oh he didn't want to" and my dad would say "I was never asked". I should and would expect patients CNAs to just do it every time making the most of patients time there. Seeing or talking to a doctor was a lot harder than it should have been. Maybe they had staffing shortages but this place has a lot of potential if they were just more consistent with care.

I decided that I needed some supplemental help once he returned home. I researched several agencies online checking Yelp/Google reviews, BBB information, licensing information and company websites. I developed a list of three agencies to contact based on my research. I contacted the first agency. It did not go well. I was shuffled around to different people; meetings were set up, then cancelled; calls/texts went unreturned; interviews were set up and candidates never showed/cancelled at the last minute; etc. After two weeks, I had had enough. Next up, Family Matters. I re-visited their website and downloaded the free In-Home Care Guide which required me to input my contact information. After fully reviewing the guide, I picked up my phone to call them and my phone rang before I could dial. The caller identified himself as Andrew from Family Matters. I laughed and told him that I was just about to call Family Matters. We spent the next 30-45 minutes discussing my father, his likes/dislikes, his personality, the qualifications that we were seeking in a caregiver, and the list of tasks/responsibilities the caregiver would perform for my father. Andrew indicated that he had a caregiver in mind and would call me back within the hour. I asked him to e-mail me a copy of their care agreement to review in the meantime. Within 5 minutes, I received the care agreement. Within an hour, he called to inform me that they had the perfect caregiver for my father and that she could start shortly. The caregiver, Marcia, that was placed with us was EXCEPTIONAL!!! She was a perfect fit for my father and was highly qualified. She was with him for about 15 months, and we cherished the time that she was in our home caring for my father. We would have loved to have had her with us until the end of time, but she retired. We were very happy for her, but sad to lose her as we had both grown very fond of her. Following her departure, Family Matters tried to find a replacement, but they were unable to find a good fit for my father in terms of availability to work the schedule that he needed, personality, skill set, and qualifications, so encouraged us to work with another agency. Although we were sad to no longer be working with Family Matters, we appreciated them being up front with us and putting our needs above their own. We engaged another agency who placed a caregiver with us for about 5 months. When she left, we contacted Family Matters to re-establish contact and query them about a replacement caregiver. We were told that Andrew had moved on and were introduced to Ashleigh, the new Account Manager. As before, we reviewed all of our requirements with her and within an hour, she had a great caregiver for him who started with my father the following week. That was a little over two months ago and his new caregiver, Elsie, is FANTASTIC!! Ashleigh maintains close contact with us to ensure my father's needs are being met, inquire about his health, and visit us in our home. There are a lot of independent caregivers & caregiving agencies out there. Some are not good, some are reasonably good, and others are exceptional. Family Matters and the caregivers that they employ, in our experience, are all exceptional. If I had to summarize the reasons I would recommend Family Matters to others in need of a caregiver, I would state the following: 1) The entire staff including, Account Managers, Staffing Managers, Receptionists, and Caregivers are extremely friendly, caring, polite, professional and responsive. If they say they are going to do something, they do it and do it within a reasonable amount of time. If a problem arises, they are on it quickly and it is resolved swiftly. 2) The staff does an exceptional job of listening to all requirements, qualifications and needs to best match a caregiver with the client 3) The caregivers have very good professional experience, qualifications, training, certifications, and licensing 4) The agency does all of the leg work, so you do not have to do so. As caregivers are employed by the agency, the agency conducts all recruiting, interviewing, background checks, references, licensing, training, benefits, liability insurance, time keeping, and manages the caregiver's payroll. They also handle billing, so you receive an invoice for each period which can be paid in several ways, including autopay. 5) They communicate in several ways and will accommodate their communications to the method which best suits the client 6) You can tell that the employees are treated well and that the management cares about their well-being. Everyone really enjoys working there and it shows. 7) Family Matters has many resources available on-line We highly recommend Family Matters to any person or family member looking for in home care for a loved one.

Finally, WHY ARE YOU SHARING PATIENT PRESCRIPTION INFORMATION on a public site? This is not only incorrect but also highly inappropriate. ORIGINAL REVIEW We had a terrible experience at Melrose Senior Care. Under the current administrator, Justin, my father was dangerously over medicated for two months due to a failure to track doctor orders. I had to move him to another facility for his safety. PLEASE NOTE - Grace owns a hospice & nursing company called Comprehensive Health Care Inc. She does not disclose this information when pushing un-necessary services on residents' families. Grace showed zero regard for HIPAA, discussing my father's condition in a public room to solicit her own hospice business when it was not medically necessary. I also found thousands of dollars in unauthorized Medicare charges for services never requested or received. The facility is poorly managed: staff turnover is high. My dad was always wearing someone else's clothing. Various smoke detectors chirped for nine months without maintenance. This is not a safe environment for seniors.

My father who is in late stage Alzheimer's was in the Pomerado Hospital Geriatric Psych ward for a few weeks and upon his release it was determined that we couldn't bring him back home. He couldn't walk and unfortunately his Alzheimer's had only gotten worse and he had become quite agitated on a regular basis. Upon his release from Pomerado, we began searching for an affordable location in Poway mainly because that's where he's lived for the past 50 years, but also because that's where I live and my mother is close by, but now in Carmel Mountain. Huntington Manor is a very quaint, quiet and peaceful campus. It's surrounded by walkways, gardens and groves which made for a very nice environment and one that we thought my dad would enjoy. I believe it's family owned and all the staff members that I interacted with were all very sweet and patient. My father's residency was very brief as I mentioned because I think he was further into his Alzheimer's than any of us realized and unfortunately his episodes were quite disruptive to the other residents which I understand is not fair for them. We ultimately ended up moving him to Silverado in Escondido who I think is a more appropriate place for him and we'll more suited to tend to his needs, but I appreciate the care that Huntington Manor briefly gave him.
