I had a great experience at TLC! The staff is extremely qualified and know their stuff- I was getting over a stye which was affecting my vision and the doctor recommended pushing my treatment to fully heal and get an accurate assessment of my vision. That really gave me confidence because they weren't just looking to get another surgery on the books. They cared about doing it right and had my well being at the top of the list. The day of my treatment I relaxed in the waiting room with HGTV to calm my nerves. After an additional vision check I was ushered into a futuristic, clean and impressive room with the doctor and two techs. About 6 or 7 minutes later I was reading the clock on the wall !! The treatment did NOT hurt- at most I felt some pressure. During the next 5 hours of resting with my eyes closed I occasionally felt some burning/stinging but would not even describe it at pain. Discomfort would be more accurate. I recommend TLC without hesitation. My only regret is not doing it sooner! read more

I had the same issues as the other people with 1 star reviews here. I have been rescheduled 3 times: first time 30 minutes prior to my appointment I received a call telling me that doctor won't be at the office , funny - cuz day before they called to confirm this appointment and told me to make sure I file paperwork online, then second time they said they had to reschedule because of some confusion on the schedule, and third time they called 2 days before my appointment and said that morning won't work for them - seriously?!!! It's not that complicated to run a schedule in a clinic, get your things together! People make plans, I literally had to reschedule my plans twice to get to you in the morning and of course you don't care. Very disappointing! read more

It's been over a week since my LASIK surgery and I'm so thrilled that I did it! I've worn glasses for 22 years and contact lenses for 15 years. I've never felt so free since LASIK! The day after my surgery, my vision was 20/25 and is still there a week later, but I am still healing. I'm a Type 1 Diabetic and my doctor is very pleased with my results so far. TLC Laser Eye Center is wonderful and I will recommend them to anyone! I'm so excited that I will be able to see for my wedding in April! No more worries for me!! read more

I'm so sad and disappointed to have to put a one star review, especially when this place has rave reviews and all of my friends recommended this place to me. However, after the treatment I received, I will NEVER recommend people here. Being a teacher, I made an appointment online for a day I had off at 10am. I received a call within an hour confirming my appointment, but then changing the appointment to 10:30am the same day. No big deal. I confirmed a ride to the appointment (I was told my eyes would be dialated that day), and was very excited! A week later, I received another phone call, telling me the doctor would not be in on the scheduled appointment day, and that I had to make a new appointment. I told her I needed to confirm a new ride, in which I was told I would NOT be dialated that day (so now I am getting different information). I made a new appointment for the next day. 24 hours PRIOR to my new appointment, I get a phone call telling me the doctor will NOT be in that day either. At that point, I was very upset and cancelled my appointment. I can't keep changing days. This is time off of work I have to keep putting in for, and is very difficult to do. For 2 days after, I kept receiving emails asking "why did I cancel my appointment". I get a phone call, to which I tell her my appointment was changed several times. She said "well you used the internet service to create the appointment, of course it was going to get changed." At this point, I felt like I was getting blamed, and they were not seeing the other changes that had been made. I told her of them, at which point she offered me $400 off of Lasik to reschedule. I told her I had taken my business elsewhere, and ended the conversation. Not only am I frustrated that this place kept changing my appointment and having no regards for my time, but then the lady that called me tried to blame the appointment changes on me. I never got in for a consultation, and I'm very disappointed. I also never got a reason for why the doctor couldn't see me (and yes, I did ask). read more

I had an awesome experience with TLC, from setting up the initial consultation all the way through the procedure! Scheduling consultation: I noticed there was a feature online that allowed me to schedule a consultation through the website which I found to be helpful. Picked a time and date, and was all set. Unfortunately received a call from TLC shortly after saying that day was not available so they helped me find a different one that worked. I had a few questions that the call center couldn't help me with, so they were able to transfer me directly to the center I would be going to. I believe I spoke to Jennifer on the phone, and she was AWESOME. Very informative and thorough to make sure i knew what to expect for the consultation. She gave me the center's number so I could call them directly if I had any additional questions. Consultation: The office was not hard to find, parking was okay but that's completely out of their control. The staff is incredibly friendly. The office itself was very clean, bright, and welcoming. They also have Fixer Upper playing on all of the TV's so that's a major win for me. After I filled out initial paperwork, I was brought to the back to have scans taken of my eyes. I met with the tech, John, who is so funny! It was nice talking to everyone while they got the information they needed for my eyes. After all of the scans and learning that I was a good candidate for LASIK, I met with Julie (i think) who went over all of the technical details like scheduling a procedure date, financing, and a brief overview of post-op care. I had my pre-op appointment with my regular eye doctor about two weeks later (roughly 6 weeks before the procedure) and everything was all set. Procedure: Due to a scheduling issue, my procedure was moved up a week earlier than expected! But TLC was so accommodating to the time wanted to come in and made it work perfectly. The morning of, I went in, signed the paperwork, took some last eye scans, took the Valium they gave me, and watched Fixer Upper for 15 minutes while I waited for it to kick in. The staff checked in on me to make sure i was good, and then they prepped me to go into the surgical suite! Music was playing which helped me kind of time the whole procedure. I think we got through one song, and barely finished the second when they said it as all done. Like simple as that. What I loved was that nothing they did was unexpected. They told me when they were putting drops in, when I would feel a lot of pressure on an eye, when I wouldn't be able to see out of an eye for a minute, and when I would smell the burning scent. I had been warned about that part, and one of the staff was really helpful by counting down from 10 so that I knew when the smell would go away. After procedure: they looked at my eyes through the microscope one last time to make sure everything was good, put my first round of eye drops in, put the eye shields on me, and had me rest for about 20 minutes before telling me I was good to go. I truly couldn't have had a better experience, and am so glad I chose TLC for my LASIK! read more

The aggressiveness and lack of listening comprehension in their initial phone calls was a total turn off. I received calls on back to back days after a routine eye exam. The eye Dr said he'd pass along my email address and they'd reach out with information. On the first call, they refused to give a ballpark for price after asking a few times, so we left it with me saying I'd reach out when and if I decide to seek out lasik. The employee was extremely pushy on the phone. The next day I get another call for the same purpose. When I explained that I had been through the same conversation the day before, and I would reach out if I decided to seek them out, the response was extremely defensive and in an accusatory tone asking if my dr had told me they would be calling (this happened 3 times without acknowledging what I was communicating). I said they were being pretty aggressive with these calls and she kept on her script until I just had to hang up. read more

I tried twice to schedule a consultation and both times I needed to reschedule. Both times I received a call a day later, let me know the time slot (that was posted as available) was unavailable and I needed to look to other days. Incredibly annoying and lack of respect for my time. If they can't master basic scheduling, it's doubtful I'd trust them with a laser and my eye. read more

Everyone was so incredibly friendly here and made me feel comfortable. I got Lasik in April 2019 and after 2 months I'm so happy with the results. I experience dry eye, as expected, but it has been life changing to not need contacts or glasses anymore. Arrive early to our appointment, so we may fill out paperwork. When scheduling the appointment I was told to bring my insurance card so they could check for discounts. However, when the receptionist didn't ask, I brought it up. He response to me was *this is elective, it doesn't go through your insurance". My wife hands in paperwork, skipping over questions on activities she wants to do Lasik for, as her vision is pretty bad and would simply like better vision for everything, without the use of glasses. We were brought into the back, where testing was being don't by an assistant. The assistant wrote my wife's prescription down, at which point I asked if we'd be getting a copy. Her response was of course, the doctor will make you a copy. At this point we're waiting for the doctor. When she walked into the room, after the introduction, her first comment was "you didn't fill out the why page, do you not want Lasik?" I was unaware a silly survey would determine if we were serious about Lasik. I thought the 45 minute drive made our intentions clear. She then continued with the exam, and told my wife she would need her vision to remain consistent for 2 years, and per the record they have, from a physician my wife has NEVER seen, he vision is slightly worse that that. We told her we've never seen that provider, but her response was, "well, that might be someone who works at Lense Crafters". I asked if we could get a copy of my wife's prescription, which the doctor refused, stating since it did not go through our insurance she's cannot. I did tell her, we knew my wife's prescription, and it's been stable for years. If I left and we went to get an exam, how would we be able to compare results. For all we know, TLC may have gotten her prescription incorrect. Her response was, I can't give you her prescription. At this point, while we were asking questions and trying to talk to her, she walked us out and walked away from us while saying "come back in 6 months". Side note, I work for the clams and appeals department of my insurance provider. I know Lasik is elective. I also know my insurance provides a 15% discount. If the office maybe communicated with customer service, maybe they would know what is asked of potential customers. Once I asked about the prescription, we were treated as if we drove 45 minutes for a free exam. This was a was of our time, and we would never go back to TLC. read more

I finally decided to take the plunge and have LASIK done. This will probably be a long review but it will cover both a review of the Dr's office as well as the procedure itself. This review covers my Custom Intralase procedure. First a review of the office: The staff is like a well-oiled machine. They have a set procedure for both the evaluation appt as well as the actual surgery day. The office is VERY busy on surgery day but the actual waiting time isn't really that bad. You spend the first part of your appt filling out paperwork and making sure everything about the procedure is fully explained. You will see and talk to at least 5 different people that morning but every one of them knows what you are having done and is very professional. At any point you can ask them anything about the procedure and they will take the time to fully explain it. They have snacks and drinks available to help take your mind off of the procedure. The procedure: Everything that I saw and heard beforehand made LASIK look uncomfortable and kind of made me a little apprehensive about the whole procedure. That is not the experience I had. With all of the paperwork being done, you actually start to relax. They let you know ahead of time that a valium will be available to anyone who wants it. I opted for the valium just in case. Now here is the only issue I had with the procedure. I was given the valium less than 10 minutes before the procedure started and it didn't kick in until after the procedure was done. But as you will read below, that wasn't really a bad thing. What to expect: Before you walk into the room, you are asked a few questions that helps them to verify that the correct person is having the surgery. Study up, you don't want to give them the wrong info. (Name, DOB that kind of stuff) You are also given booties to cover your shoes and a cover for your hair. When you walk into the room for surgery there are two machines with a curved very comfortable bed/chair in the center. You lay down in the chair and one of the three people in the room put some drops in to numb your eyes. You are told to close your eyes until the Dr comes in and asks you to open them. Here is the only uncomfortable part; they put a suction cup like ring on your eye so that they can cut the flap. It is uncomfortable but doesn't hurt. They swing you over to the machine on your left and you look into what looks like a black wiffle ball. This takes seconds per eye and you don't feel a thing. They then swing you to the other machine where they put clamps to keep your eyes open. (Think Clockwork Orange) They don't hurt. You stare at a red light for less than a minute per eye based on what is being done. (My right eye took 31 seconds, left took 33 seconds) During this time you hear a little noise and people talking in the room describing to a recorder what is being done. They tell you that you are done and walk you over to a room where you sit in the dark for about 10 minutes until the Dr checks his work. After that you go home and you are done. Follow all of the directions you are given and you will be fine. It is uncomfortable for the first 5 hours after but starts feeling better soon after. Go to sleep when you get home and you will feel fine. read more

My experience was terrible! All "bait and switch". Scheduled one appointment, called next day told I had to reschedule as doctor had no hours "but they would be happy to reschedule". Went to rescheduled appointment and never saw doctor - was told I do not qualify for the agreed for exam. Instead they suggested I walk across the hall to the doctors other office ( the same doctor I was to see for free) and pay for an exam. When making my appointments I made it clear I had surgery 15 years previous. They knew that when they booked my "free visit". Only after they get me in the door do they tell me my exam is not free. I got Lasik done yesterday at TLC in Fairfield CT and I have to say that even though I was EXTREMELY nervous I would do it again a million times. It is a little over 24 hours since my surgery and my vision is unbelievable!!! Dr. Donnenfeld and his team and I mean ever single person that helped me throughout this whole Lasik process were absolutely amazing at their job. They made me feel so comfortable and relaxed during the whole procedure and I couldn't thank them enough. It has been 1 month since I had my surgery and I am thrilled and amazed with the outcome. I was VERY nervous prior to the procedure because lets face it, it's scary to have lasers reshaping your eyes! The procedure was painless and quick. When I got home I ate and then went straight to bed. My eyes were definitely watery and burning (like when cutting an onion) but nothing I couldn't deal with. Woke up the next morning and literally cried when I could see my alarm clock. I think I drove my husband crazy that morning saying "I can see this, I can see that"!! I had my follow up apt. at 1pm and was told I had 20/15 vision!!! They only thing I have noticed since the surgery is I see rainbows around bright lights, but have been told this will get better with healing. I still go to push up glasses on my nose that are no longer there! It's wild. Truly the best thing I've done, life changing sounds a bit much, but there is no other way to put it for me. I just had my 4 week follow up today and I'm still 20/15 and healing very well. The staff was wonderful in the Fairfield CT office and I couldn't be happier! I wore glasses/contacts for over 20 years, but no MORE!!! read more
