All of their nail techs are incredibly kind, chat with you if you're in the mood & ensure you're love your nails. I am EXTREMELY picky and have tried almost every salon in ankeny. To preface my review, I have been a loyal customer of this nail salon for the past 3 years and always leave excellent tips (up to even $40) because the work that they used to do was amazing. Today, I went in for an appointment wanting acrylic nails with a fairly simple nail design, but the lady could not even do the basics. She did not remove cuticles, sloppily cut my natural nails, gave me wrong-sized fake tips that were too big for my nail beds, could not do a simple french tip, and created a polish mountain with the acrylic powder. When I politely pointed out that the acrylic was WAY too thick and that the lengths were not even and asked if she could file it down, she started getting aggressive and saying, "if it looks ugly and it breaks, it's your fault not mine, all your fault". She also started filing my nails super aggressively to the point that my nails were starting to hurt and even nicked my skin with the nail drill. I don't know if the management changed or something, but I did not recognize any of the nail ladies from previous visits, and I eventually just had them remove my acrylics because I already knew that I was going to just end up going somewhere else, to which the lady did not even remove all of the acrylic properly. I do not expect my nails to look exactly like any inspiration photo or to be perfect, but given what I know that this nail salon WAS capable of and the poor customer service, the nails I got done today were below sub-par. I have attached photos of what I got done today, how my damaged natural nails were left afterward, and the type of excellent work I have received in the past. The manager graciously gave me a refund, but only after telling me that I should have been more picky about how I wanted my nails (but when I did today, my nail lady got angry with me). My experience with TK nails today was unacceptable, and unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

I have had a hard time finding a nail salon that did the dip powder well, I started to think I was just being too picky but I've gone to TK Nails twice (and will be back again this week) my dip manicure has been nearly perfect and has last nearly 3 weeks both times. With my current set I'm at 3 weeks and they still look fine, they aren't starting to separate from my nails at all. Other salons I've gone to it's started peeling off within a week. You can walk-in but I'd make an appointment if you can as they've turned people away both times I've been there. read more

Not a good experience. I had booked an appointment at their salon for 5:00. When I showed up 4:55, they had decided to take a large group of walk-ins at 4:45 and asked me to wait. I'm a patient person, but they didn't finish with the walk-in group until 5:30. I was getting a regular pedicure and gel manicure, which on the website is listed as 30 min and 45 min, respectively. The pedicure alone took 70 min, and when they realized it was so close to 7:00 (when they close) they did my manicure in 15 min. I have no idea why my appointment took so long. 2 other ladies who came in after me and had the same services as I did were out the door before I was. My gel manicure also started peeling and chipping within 5 days of the appointment. Felt very little respect to my time and a great lack of quality in service. Will not be coming back. read more

Was looking for a new shop closer to home after my last shop messed my nails up. I get very nervous when going to a new shop but I really liked the reviews and pictures I seen from other people. Called same day and booked a pedicure for my mom and I along with a dip manicure for myself. Boy was I impressed. They were packed when we got there and there was a tiny wait but once we were seated they took their time and made sure everything was right and correct to our liking. Everyone was super friendly and they truly did an amazing job. They also gave us the gel on our toes for our pedicure for free since we had to wait. The technicians attention to detail at this nail salon is incredible. And who does not want a perfectionist doing your nails? No one!
