Back in the day, TK Barber Shop & Spa was my go-to groove and always made my 'do improve--and yes, that's my younger self gracing their Yelp photo. Years later, fatherhood has added some greys, but TK still slays. A spontaneous visit reminded me why this spot remains a gem. 4.5 Stars * Sunny's Sorcery Sunny's still got it! He understood my hair's quirks so quick and slick, wielding those rare texturizing scissors like a magic trick. Left looking fresher and younger--pure wizardry. * Budget Brilliance At $31, my bucks stayed sound, while my look was crowned. Exceptional value for top‑notch service. * Swift Service No appointments, no waits--just in and out at record rates. Walked in, sat down, and was out in under 10 minutes--efficiency that's destined to win it. * Park Street Perks Located amidst Alameda's vibrant Park Street, where eats and treats make each visit complete. A haircut here fits perfectly into a day about town--one cut, one strut, never a letdown. 1/2 * K-Pop Poster Play The Big Bang posters still adorn the walls, and matching members across posters takes brainy recalls. ------ 1/2 (-) Cramped Quarters Caveat The shop's narrow layout feels snug and tight--if it gets packed, comfort takes flight. Thankfully, I visited during a calm spell. read more

Tony and Kelsey run a full service hair salon in Lyons. Their services cover a wide range and the quality of their work is consistently excellent. My wife, always watchful of my haircuts, has never had anything but good things to say about them. The vibe is casual, unpretentious and comfortable. The shop is cozy and wonderfully bright on sunny days. If you like to chat, both are good conversationalists. The pricing is extremely reasonable. Parking is always available in front of the shop. I've been going to TK for three of four years now, and I give it my highest rating. read more

They never open on time and are always late. Has happened many times. Today, a Saturday, I waited 45 until 9:45 AM and they were still not open. Hours posted on the door state that they open at 9 on Sunday. When they are open, haircuts are average. read more

Stopped in 1st time ever No scan of Yelp. The professional gentleman sat me down and asked what was in need. He did an excellent job on my fade, harder now that I'm balding, LOL. Took the massive beard down too. The fellow spent 45 mins on me with all the attention to detail that other barbers lack. 5 stars hands down. read more

So I show up with PHOTOS of what I want my hair to look like (in addition to my hair nearly looking that way). The guy is like yeah, Il I'll do it just like that!! As the haircut progresses, I keep reminding him of what I wanted and in broken English he's like "yeah, yeah, I do just like that!" well... he didn't "do anything like that" (the photo's, the explanation, None of it!) Then I get ready to leave and hand him a Visa card and he says cash only (printed on a 3 x 5 card hidden on a covered up section toward the bottom side of the cash register). So I end up calling my wife, waking her up and then waiting an hour for cash to arrive. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!!! read more

Came back here today after several years and got Sunny to do both my boys hair and he did AMAZING!! One of my kids prefer short hair and the other prefers long and he nailed both to perfection. I appreciate the precision and attention to details of how he cuts hair. He will definitely be our go to barber from now on. read more

Doesn't take cards in this day and age of contactless payments and no cash. Wish they did.

Guy Eddy did an awesome job with my haircut. It's taken me a long time to find someone who can do a decent fade that's almost skin without using the razor. He spent time to make sure my haircut was right and there were nothing missed. The cost for a men's haircut is $25, which is not bad and it's in a part of alameda I like read more

I was there in the afternoon on a week day and there was no wait. Bring a picture from your last haircut if you do not want any misunderstanding The pictures posted above the mirror might not be exact so it is better to bring your own. Make sure you err on less hair removal and you can always make it as close step by step. If more customers come in after you the finishing touches suffers from the pressure of time. So it is important to be there in the least busy time. I have not yet figures that time myself. read more

A great little barber shop located on Park St. I walked right in on Saturday expecting a long line but was greeted quickly and offered a seat. As many barber shops take cash only I made sure to ask prior to my cut. As expected cash was required but luckily there was an ATM down the street. I requested a 1-2 fade on the side, half an inch off the top, and tapered in the rear. I am typically very selective with how my hair is cut but TK Barber Shop did an awesome job at a price that didn't break the bank. I ended up paying 21$+4$ tip for the cut and definitely will be returning for future cuts due to the ease of walking in and price point. read more

My last haircut at TK was $16, and the price went up at once to $21. That, plus never knowing who will be available to cut my hair (skills vary widely) means good-bye to TK. read more

TK Barber Shop & Spa - Another happy customer and Jolyn. - Barbers Near Me - Alameda, California

Great haircut and beard trim every time. Even opens at 9 AM on Saturdays which is great. Wait is never too long. I will patron here as long as I still visit Alameda on my weekends. Highly recommend. read more

Love Jolene! Haircuts are such a good price and I feel that she does a quality job. I'd rather go here than those expensive $25+ barber shops in my respective area. I'm not actually from the East Bay but when I do visit occasionally and am due for a haircut, I always make sure to stop by here read more

I paid $25 for a haircut that only took like 15 min. I was disappointed by the barber's low effort and how much it costed me for it. Will not return here again. read more

Fantastic place to get a haircut - it was fast, affordable, efficient and exactly what I wanted.

Had a haircut and what was supposed to be a straight razor shave, on Tues. the 11th of June at this shop. Jolyn , had excellent ratings and had cut my hair many time at Al's on Webster St. I called on Tues. morning and spoke with Jolyn, told her exactly I what I wanted. Jolyn said "Oh, no problem, I take good care of you". July 11th. The haircut came out great. Now, the SUPPOSED straight razor shave. I had a very heavy beard which needed to be cut off prior to the razor shave. So Jolyn takes care of that "no problem". Then she gets out the electric hair clippers and runs that all over my face. Next she cleans all the hair off me and rubbed in some kind of snake oil. She then said that she was finished. I got up and said "what about the "straight razor shave" Jolyn say's oh, we don't do that here. I started to argue with her and then her English is poor, however not that poor. Now all of a sudden her English becomes indecipherable. Look at her ratings write up's etc. And note that she is the best razor barber in the bay area. She even has the prices up in the shop, and lo and behold "HAIRCUT & STRAIGHT RAZOR CUT" $30.00. Don't know why I was treated this way? But I do know that I will not darken the doorway of this shop nor any other barbershop in Alameda where she is liable to appear. BEWARE don't be stupid like me. After all of the research that I have done on this subject. (LOL).. I STILL GOT STUNG.......... read more

Been coming here for the past year and a half. Great service and the guys know what they are doing.

Joeline is amazing at cutting hair and she is very nice!!!! Rarely a wait and on top of that great price, 10 stars!!!!!!!!

Yelp has a "reported this business has closed" banner on its page. It is definitely *not* closed - I got a haircut less than an hour ago. I do prefer the owner's haircuts over the men who work there, but it's all good, cheap, and fast. Only thing I'd comment on is that the male barbers all want to know a haircut number to begin with, and while I've seen those charts on barbershop walls throughout my life, I was never asked for one previously, I'd just explain what I wanted. read more

My regular salon is always booked and getting busier and just need upkeep for my inverted bob. I was able to get a really clean fade and very even cut, my hair is exactly what I wanted. $15 is cheaper for a trim than my regular place and I was in and out in 15 minutes. I have a new place! read more

I have gotten haircuts in many places before. from $14 cuts up to $50 cuts. But when it came to quality and results, Joleyn is definitely one of the best out there. Don't be put off by the $16 price tag, thinking that its cheap and not good. Joleyn haircuts are very meticulous and she pays attention to the details (the tiny little difference in all our heads). She may not have the best command of English but she is still able to understand exactly what i told her I wanted and even asked me additional questions to make sure she is giving a haircut that matches EXACTLY what i want. Highly recommended! Oh bonus is that I don't have to book an appointment in advance which is something that I don't prefer. I want a haircut when I'm ready to get a haircut now, not in a week or two. read more

I live in Alameda and have passed this shop many times without noticing, but a sign caught my eye that said they do straight razor shaves. Ok first, I am a shaving enthusiast. I have straight razors at home and a vintage collection of safeties. Truefitt & Hill, Penhaligon, Trumpers...I know the whole bit. I just received a solid shave at literally a third of the price I'd be willing to pay for an expert to work their craft on my face. Jolyn is very experienced and you won't be disappointed. the chairs are vintage, sort of uncomfortable and the towel service is very basic. Product are old school Pinaud. But I'm telling you, Jolyn has real skills and if you want to know what a real shave feels like or if you want to take care of yourself like a real gent and less than half the cost of what you'd pay at some hipster joint then go to TK now! I know I'll be returning soon! read more

This place is great! $16 bucks for a great haircut! Very friendly, professional, and quick. I showed what I wanted and she knew just what to do. There was a bit of broken english, but that didn't stop us from chatting! Consider me a new regular! read more

Great work! I finally found a barber that listens when I say 'please don't cut any off the top, I'm trying to grow it out". Thank you so much for the amazing fade. read more

Great barbershop. I used to go to a barber shop that you had to make appointments and what not, and TK still does a better job as a walk in costumer. I've had my hair cut three times and they do a great job every single time. Will continue to go. read more

While I didn't get a haircut here, I tried to come in at 4:39 PM today when they were listed as open. I come in and two people are getting hair cuts/styles. A young guy tells me they are closed the moment I walk in. While I understand that it is near the 5 pm closing time, I can tell that the guy didn't think twice about giving me a cut. Maybe they should just close at 4:30. Hmmph. Clearly they weren't closed because it was before closing time and they were both cutting hair. read more

I take my 11-year-old son here for his cuts and they always do a great job! It's a pleasant service, reasonable prices, no frills kind of place. Best of all, they understand how to work with my son's curly/wavy hair unlike many places we have tried in the past. Highly recommend this place! read more

Great value and TK does a great job. The scalp massage is a nice bonus (if there aren't people waiting). I get my head shaved, which one might think is a simple process but other places have missed areas and my shaved head looks uneven. TK does a great job at a very reasonable price. read more

At last a real barber. Great haircuts do not start out with the question "What size blade do you want?" None of that here. Just a real good haircut for a great price. Do yourself a favor, give TK a try soon. read more

Maybe I was cut by the younger brother. I asked for it 3/4" on the top, tapered down to the ears, while pointing to the positions on my head. At first, he was only going to cut around the ears, so I pulled out 3/4" to show him what I wanted, and also showed him a 3/4" gap between my fingers. Then he took up the electric clippers; I thought he was going to cut the bottom first, but he swooped all the way to the top of my head with a half inch guard. At that point I let him have his way and just hoped that whatever length it would be even, which it is not. Stay away unless you already have a specific barber working in that shop that you know knows how to cut your hair. read more

First time to visit, known it from yelp. Good and quick haircut, according to the price. Apply for most asian men, I suppose.

We love coming here to get our haircuts. This is a great little barber shop. It's been a consistently reliable place to come for an inexpensive but very well executed cut. I've had great luck with walk-in turnaround time and the owner makes it a fun little venture. read more

Jolyn and the TK barber shop & spa is amazing. They are very accommodating and listen to you and provide excellent customer service. I've trusted her with my wife, and my newborn son (for his first haircut) and she has exceeded all our expectations. I now live in San Lorenzo which seems to be the Mecca of barber shops, and I still will take the time to drive all the way to Alameda every two weeks to see her. And... the after haircut head rubs are amazing. I recommend TK barber shop to all my friends and family. Now, I am recommending it to you. read more

Jolyn is amazing! I have been following her all over the island whenever she changes locations to get haircuts from her. I don't trust anybody else with my hair at this point and fear losing her. I hope her new shop, TK, is here to stay so I know where and when to find her always. She provides great value, so tip her big! She is talented, intuitive, and a ton of fun to talk to. read more
