All barbers are experts in their trade. This is my boyfriend's second visit to OAKBarber Studios. However this review experience is with owner and master stylist, Justin. My boyfriend, Bill, called in 30 mins before for a same-day appointment and luckily landed Justin. He hooked up Bill with a close face shave, and a high fade haircut. Justin suggested a side part and showed some sample portfolio photos. Bill agreed and the outcome was impeccable. Haircut: At Bill's mature age, he is at a time where he is less floof, and more grumps. But Justin was able to find the perfect balanced look for him with the high fade and side part. Interior: aesthetic man cave vibes, light R&B tunes playing, beautiful Oakland attributed graffiti wall art, and comfortable waiting area Exterior: quiet neighborhood, ample parking, clear barber signage, and community grocers next door. Overall, Bill and I give this location a 5-star rating and will be back during New Years for a new look from any of the OAKBarbers! read more

Vibes were dope. I had a Saturday afternoon with Al and he made magic happen. I chopped off almost a foot of hair. He transformed me into my next best version of me. The pictures don't do it justice, but he collaborated with me along the way making sure that I was impressed every step of the way. As someone learning about personal care, he was knowledgeable to educate me on products to style my hair. I would definitely say these guys are solid barbers. If you're looking for a new barber, try this spot. All of them are good at what they commit to. read more

Went in to get my face cleaned up and came out with a line up too. Wandered into this spot and will definitely be coming back.

Justin was amazing! It was my 4-year-old son's very first haircut, and Justin truly went above and beyond. He made both my son and me feel completely comfortable from the start. He talked us through the entire process, was incredibly patient, and the final result was perfect -- even better than I could have imagined. We couldn't be happier with the experience! We will definitely be back. read more

Justin & Al were great with my kids (6yo & 3.5yo). Besides the great cuts, both Justin & Al were patient when my kids squirmed a little & let them get out the wiggles before continuing. Will definitely be coming back read more

I've gone from long hair to buzzcut to long hair multiple times over the past few years. But I recently got a buzzcut, and my 21st birthday was coming up. I never worried about how my hair looked when it was short, but for my 21st birthday I wanted to look the best I could. I booked a men's haircut with Al at Oakbarber Studios, and he was by far, not just the best short haircut I've ever gotten, but the best haircut point-blank. He took the time and quickly was able to understand my hair, my curl pattern, the way it wanted to flow, etc. I got a taper from him after he explained the difference between fades and tapers, and I couldn't have been more happy with my haircut. On top of that, Al was just great conversation and a very friendly and welcoming kind of guy. I'd highly recommend booking with Al any day of the week, I'm probably growing my hair out again, but for this short time of short hair, Al got me right! read more

Justin is ahead of his team. I have followed him to a few places and happy to know see him at a place of his own. What I look for in a stylist is consistency , attention to detail and time management, he never fails to cross those boxes. I usually get the presidential , Can seem pricey but definitely a great way to kick off the weekend . read more

I've been going to Oakbarber Studios since they opened and have been a client of Justin longer than that. I've always left feeling great about myself after Justin hooks me up. I have had the Presidential Service and would recommend it to everyone. The shop is always clean and the vibe is always positive. I brought my nephew here to experience what a high-quality barbershop is like and he loved the haircut he received. I will always be a client at Oakbarber Studios! read more

Ever since I moved to the West Coast I've been to a barbershop once. After having the same barber for several years I found it hard to trust anyone else. But I found Justin and Oakbarber Studios through Yelp and decided to take a chance. First thing I have to highlight is the simplicity and ease of use with scheduling and paying for services. The app is really easy to navigate and rescheduling is no problem. The shop is located in a quiet neighborhood in Alameda with plenty of street parking. Inside, the shop is spacious, clean, and chill. Justin is a excellent barber and a good thoughtful dude. Even though he knew what he was doing, he would ask for my input throughout the cut. My haircut turned out great and I look forward to returning and also bringing my son. read more

My son just got the best haircut he's ever had and he enjoyed the experience too! Getting him to get his haircut is like pulling teeth, but we finally found a place that makes him feel comfortable, happy, and look great too. I can't recommend them enough! We will be going back regularly read more

Hands down the best barber in the bay! Justin was referred by a friend after I relocated here from SoCal. He's professional & highly skilled! I enjoy the fact as a working professional he has created an atmosphere that is easy to get to (parking) his availability is transparent (app that you can schedule your service and even pay through). I appreciate the attention to detail and will continue to support! read more

Wonderful people, service, and business. Mr. Justin is very humble, creative, talented, and an excellent barber. He has accommodated my boys, extending his skills, patience, and services to meet them where they're at and to fulfill their barber shop /hair expectations. Al is also a wonderful, kind, and humble barber with top barber skills and customer service. Appreciate you. Thank you so much. read more

We had a picture of the haircut we wanted and everything was going great. We love the vibe and the location. We did have to pay up front along with the tip in order to book an appointment. A few minutes before the cut was completed, my son's sideburns we shaved off entirely and the top of his hair was cut super short. That was the exact opposite of the picture and what we verbally requested. Not sure what happened but it was not the result we wanted. We did reach out via email and no response was provided. For a $72 haircut, we expect more. read more

Made it there on time for my appointment which I had made a week before. Waited outside their studio for over 30 minutes, but no one was inside. I called the number posted on their front window multiple times, and finally someone answered. After I told him the issue his response was that there other barber shops in Alameda and hangs up. Terrible customer service. read more
