That's my dog after being there for 13 days: all skin and bones and sores. He still has the scars.

Do not board your dog there. My dog was starving and pretty sure abused. They must have locked him in a cage instead of a room they charged me for. His teeth were all silver from biting the bars! I had to rush him to the vet immediately. He still has the scar on his leg. I left feedback for Tk9, but they never responded. I think they are somehow blocking my Google review as well.

My doggo, totally changed!! No more leash pulling

I don't understand the less than 5 star reviews.... this place and the staff are the GOAT. I've recommended this place to my coworkers and neighbors and they all fell in love. My GSD has completed the puppy training with Will and now unto obedience level 1 taught by THE owner Tecla. The difference in her behavior is out of this world! Don't expect a trainer who will cater to your needs but if you are looking for a trainer who sincerely cares about your baby, this is the place you want to bring your fur baby. My pup loves going to the day care and they even offer training during the day care AND provide you w a report card! I wasn't able to complete level 2 due to my accident and they not only fully understood but even called to check up on me. Talk about people who mAke you and your fur baby feel like a family. SERIOUSLY, recommend this place? I've worked w Will, Ashley, and Tecla and they are amazing!

My Hank loves going to Tecla's. In the morning as I am getting g ready he is just waiting for me to say TECLA'S. Then he runs to the door wagging his tail. I can't get him to go potty at home before we leave, he gets so excited knowing he is going to play at daycare at Tecla's. The staff is very friendly. I think they are a little pricy but with everything else going up. Hank is well worth it. I am sure it's not a cheap business to be running so my doggie treats go out to you Tecla I do like the fact they offer grooming as well as there nice long hours. The business has grown since I started several years ago and I would like to take a tour on the expansion or see their growing pains in a good way. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because in the mornings they need more than once person checking in the customers and their dogs esp. When someone is dropping their pet off for overnight. They fill out the form ask questions etc... they really need one door for day care And the other door for over night stays and have another person working in the mornings. It's not even fair to the person working muscles the dogs and parents. I hear many adults complain about the slow drop understaffed situation in the mornings. Either way I know Hank is in a fun safe place. Thank you all at Tecla's esp since I know how hard you all work taking care of our fur family.

We adopted a super high energy dog with some aggression issues from BARCS and the training team there recommended Tecla's K9 Academy to work with these issues. We attended a behavior introduction session where we met William, our trainer, to talk about what we wanted out of the training. He sent us two plans - one for private one on one training and one for a board and train. We opted for the board and train with William where our dog stayed there for 4 weeks and we had 4 private lessons. The first private lesson was in the middle of boarding to start learning some of the things that William has taught the dog. The second lesson was the take home class where we learned how to reinforce what he learned at Tecla's back at home. The last two were follow-up lessons where we got to ask questions, get advice, and continue to practice with William. Our dog was totally changed and continues to improve every day! We are still working through at home but now feel like we have the knowledge and skills to do so. Before our training started, we needed a place to board him and Tecla's was able to accommodate him. He takes prescription food because of allergies so we were able to pre-portion out all of his meals for him. They have a large play area and lots of dogs so our dog was super happy there. They bathed him before he returned home.

I can't say enough positive things about TK9 Academy. I've been taking my German Shepherd here since he was a young pup. We worked our way up from Puppy Class, to Obedience, and Rally. Toby loves to spend his days at TK9's daycare and it is a great feeling knowing that my dog has a place to go when I go out of town for an extended period. Even with the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, TK9 found a way to provide online training to individuals who were already signed-up for the puppy and obedience classes. TK9 Academy has it all, group classes, online classes, individual training sessions - they will even come out to your house if that is what your training calls for. Thank you TK9 Academy for everything! You have our continued support!

We rescued a puppy from Kuwait who ended up showing signs of aggression towards anything and everything around 6 mo, especially kids. We tried a few trainers (one who our pup attacked on day 2) before finding out about Tecla's. We wish we had known earlier - we have a whole new pup! Tecla has helped us gain our pup's trust and keep our loved ones safe around him. We are still working through classes and daycare but we would be in a terrible situation without TK9. It's also a bonus to have a safe place you can trust with your dog when you have to be out of town! Willie is MORE than excited to see his friends at TK9 every time we go. It's worth spending your time and money on a place that knows what they're doing. I was so surprised when I saw him laying on the floor surrounded by dogs! He used to never be able to relax around others. We love TK9!

Our very first interaction was great...his energy was wonderful...he did not disappoint! He was very methodical with his approach...explaining every step of the process...very engaging...constant updates of the Boyz progress...videos, photos...wait! The photos that I received were Ahhhhhhh-mazing, I mean impressive...only to learn that he's a photographer as well...but I digress. The Boyz are spoiled and I have no shame in stating this...*smile*. But they needed to learn manners. I have two large and very strong Standard Poodles - Mr. Brown and Max. They're extremely smart, pretty obedient in the house, but a huge challenge on walks...my poor dog walker. I wanted to be able to take them anywhere without the extended conversations of sit, stay, what are you doing? you know better... etc. At any rate, I'd been following OLK9 Maryland for some time online. I knew that training for two dogs was going to be a budget buster. Thankfully, I was able to take advantage of the "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" (can't remember which one it was). I cannot say enough about the great experience I had...the Boyz were happy to see Craig each day which was a HUGE relief for me. Yes, additional work/training on my part is required...to me that's a no brainer. As a responsible pet owner, I want to make sure that there is consistency and an expectation that my Boyz are well behaved and well mannered. Which means I have to do the work. Funny, as I was driving home from our final session, I was so tempted to take them on a short walk because I knew it would be enjoyable. But decided to wait until morning... I'm so excited to be able to have an enjoyable walk with these guys... less scolding and more bonding. Well worth the time and financial commitment. Thank you OLK9 Maryland for bringing additional joy to our home... things are definitely more "manageable". I'm really looking forward to our walks, especially since there will be NO more pulling! Can't wait to be able to take them to the "brick and mortar" with me once it's open! "Life Changing K9 Training"

I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

The sitter stays a while after the food, water, and paper are changed to make sure the birds aren't acting weird, and I hear that some singing goes on. If you're looking for a more supervised daycare environment, structured play, hands-on one-on-one,…read moreor group training, I would highly recommend them. It's very clear how much the staff knows, and how deeply they care about every single dog that walks through their doors. Over the past few months, this is the fourth daycare we've tried for our dog. The first one we chose to leave. The next two either wouldn't accept her or ultimately asked her not to return. Our dog is an over 80-lb American Bully, and she truly doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. We started daycare and boarding when she was about 8 months old. At nearly 50 lbs already, she was placed with the large dogs. In this large group play, the challenge wasn't aggression; it was that she was young, playful, and didn't always understand when another dog didn't want to engage. Two facilities told us they couldn't keep her in group play because other dogs would become reactive when she missed social cues and it wasn't safe for them or the dogs. After the second rejection, we reached out to friends and were highly encouraged to try Pet-U-Cation. We were told upfront that the training and care are exceptional, but as a small business with limited overhead and office staff, communication can sometimes require patience (which has also been our experience). Her evaluation went great. After two day-training sessions, she became a regular at daycare, and she absolutely loves it! The growth we've seen in her socialization and ability to read other dogs has been incredible. It's also reinforced the training we're doing at home and helping her overall learning and development (consistency really is key). We love that there is no more coming home from daycare with newly acquired bad habits.
